The place feels like you are in Paris, since Beirut was controlled by French back in 1929. The place is beautiful but strange in terms of lots of military around the area and check points. And strange is terms of being quiet cause by the economic depression left most of the buildings empty even though you will find high end, fancy restaurants and boutiques here. But still you need to walk around and enjoy the architectural beauty of the town.

Great little square in the centre of the city which is well maintained and has some lovely cafes with outdoor seating surrounding the square. The clock itself is one of the most recognised symbols of the city so it’s a must see when visiting and on the weekend. It’s a really calm and quiet area to escape the bustle of the city as long as you don’t mind being surrounded by a lot pigeons! Certainly worth the walk to take a look and admire.

A great historical square but alas the place is dead and buildings damaged and empty due to various reasons and the incidents of the recent past. There are armed guards for security at each end of the square. However, the architecture is exceptionally high quality and it reminds you that once it was a busy and bustling place.

Beautiful downtown of Beirut which looks like a ghost now unfortunately because of the broken windows, walls, destroyed buildings.. I hope one day it will be recovered and we can see a new Beirut like Phoenix! You must churches there and museum!

This square is very close to many restaurants and coffee shops, as well as other attractions such as the Mohammed Al Amin Mosque and the adjacent church.

Area is in a secure zone so very quiet and no traffic. Interesting to walk through with a few cafes and offers a good view of the nearby Roman Ruins.

تُفَّاحةٌ للبحر, نرجسةٌ الرخام Nijmeh Square is the heart of living Beirut, I have this personal saying: I did not visit Lebanon if I didn't visit the downtown Beirut during my stay. It is vibrant, magical, beautiful and words can't describe the feelings. The Nijmeh Square photograph I took back in 2012 and I added the poem of Mahmoud Darwish when he celebrated Beirut. Place de l'Étoile, located in Beirut, Lebanon, is a historic square surrounded by elegant buildings. At its center stands the iconic Nejmeh Square clock tower. Lively and vibrant, the square is a hub for cultural events, social gatherings, and political demonstrations. It encapsulates the city's dynamic spirit and is home to significant landmarks, including the Lebanese Parliament and the city's historical heart. With its rich history and architectural splendor, Place de l'Étoile is a symbol of Beirut's resilience and enduring cultural significance. Unfortunately, due to the latest situations the area become empty and no one practicing any work there!

It's a nice square. Unfortunately, after the bombing, your whole year is gone. It's a deserted place. Photo shoot is perfect. Soldiers are helpful.

Government needs to back off this area and stores should open there again, a beautiful location such as this one should not be ruined by the trash government

All of the shops here are closed and abandoned and the perimeter is guarded by the army but if you are a tourist they will let you pass and go in to take photos but that’s about it. Nothing is open…. The streets are empty save for the odd tourist here and there.

The place is becoming very vibrant and busy nowadays , unlike some time ago. It’s a nice walk in the evening, a lot of affordable shesha places and cafes around the place, kids will enjoy it a lot too.
