The
Salsa
Akademie
Heidelberg
(SAH)
is
a
dance
school
focusing
on
salsa,
but
also
offers
bachata
and
kizomba.
The
Salsa
classes
are
divided
into
beginner
and
intermediate
classes
and
within
the
classes,
there
exist
several
levels
(e.g.
Beginner
1,
Beginner
2,
...).
Each
level
lasts
about
4
weeks
and
all
classes
are
scheduled
at
a
fixed
weekday
(e.g.
Monday,
20:30-22:00).
Additionally,
the
school
also
offers
weekly
workshop+salsa
party
on
saturdays,
which
costs
around
12EUR
each
visit.
There
are
flexible
payment
terms
as
well
as
membership
plans.
In
general,
the
longer
you
commit
to
it,
the
less
you
pay
per
month.
Since
I
only
joined
the
Salsa
Beginner
1
class
(exactly
for
4
weeks),
my
opinion
is
limited.
Organization:
The
classes
are
very
well
organized
and
I
have
definitely
the
impression
that
they
follow
a
plan,
which
is
important
since
as
a
beginner,
you
dont
want
to
get
too
overwhelmed,
at
the
same
time,
you
also
dont
want
to
be
underchallenged.
Also
you
have
to
keep
in
mind
that
not
everyone
is
learning
the
new
moves
immediately.
Some
requires
more
time,
others
learn
immediately.
Another
aspect
is
the
ratio
between
male/female,
which
they
also
handle
quite
well.
(e.g
the
female
teacher
will
jump
in
if
necessary
-
more
on
that
later).
The
Class:
At
the
beginning
of
each
class,
the
basic
steps
are
practiced
together
in
front
of
the
mirror
and
1-2
new
basic
steps
are
introduced.
Then,
the
teacher
will
do
a
small
recap
from
the
last
session.
Most
of
the
time,
we
create
a
big
circle,
alternating
between
male
and
female.
This
way,
we
can
observe
the
teacher
carefully
and
at
the
same
time
we
can
easily
switch
partners.
At
the
end,
we
have
some
free
dance
time
in
order
to
practice
the
new
moves.
During
the
free
dance
time,
the
teachers
have
always
been
very
attentive(!),
for
instance
I
missed
the
beats
couple
of
times
or
made
other
mistakes.
The
teacher
always
made
me
aware
of
it
which
I
appreciate
it
a
lot
(you
learn
from
mistakes!!!)
The
Teacher:
The
beginner
class
1
is
hosted
by
OgĂĽn
and
Carolin.
They
both
are
very
professional
and
the
instructions
that
we
were
given
are
always
very
clear.
Furthermore,
OgĂĽn's
funny
German
accent
and
jokes
make
the
class
very
enjoyable
while
carolin
is
an
extremely
helpful
partner,
especially
as
male
lead,
I
found
it
very
enriching
to
dance
with
her
and
I
definitely
learned
a
lot
as
she
pointed
out
the
mistakes
I
made.
I
really
enjoyed
practicing
with
her
and
she
is
very
friendly
and
helpful
!!!
:)
Summary:
I
am
overall
very
happy
with
the
school.
Location
is
great,
there
are
plenty
of
parking
spots
(next
to
the
gym),
the
classes
are
organized
very
well,
the
prices
are
very
transparent
and
reasonable.
Most
importantly,
I
like
the
community.
Not
only
are
the
people
from
the
salsa
class
very
friendly
and
nice,
if
you
join
the
weekly
party,
u
will
notice
that
everyone
knows
everyone.
Salsa
is
fun
but
also
not
easy,
especially
as
male
lead.
Be
prepared
to
have
a
long-term
commitment.
For
this
reason,
I
highly
suggest
try
out
the
beginner’s
class
(4
weeks).
If
you
still
love
salsa
(like
I
do),
get
a
full
membership
and
practice!!
:)
