A small zoo with local animals. The zoo is supported through club work, so unfortunately there are no discounts for pensioners. Admission is 7.50 euros for adults. The zoo is on a hillside. Things are looking up for now. It is ideal for families with small children. There is also a playground. Parking spaces are advertised. Gastronomy is also on site.

We were here in mid-October and the zoo was beautifully decorated for Halloween. The children particularly liked that there were lots of animals to feed. The food can be purchased at the checkout. The children also made extensive use of the playground. Good food is also provided. The staff was super nice. The zoo is embedded in a wonderful landscape. We'll definitely come back.

Nice little zoo with a decent variety of animals considering location/size of zoo. Great playground, BBQ area and loads of shade which makes it a good place to visit even on hot days in the summer. Staff is friendly. It is quite hilly so make sure to hold on tight to your stroller ;) Recommended by!

A a very small zoo. Consider the season, some animals in winter are not there. The animals there are nice and you can feed them with special food you get for 1 eur. Nice place to visit! I recommend pay in cash as some cards are not accepted for paying (VISA, Mastercard).

Cheap (€15 for 2 kids and 2 adults) way to see some smaller wildlife, not much in the way of any wild cats for example. Bit tired looking but a pleasant enough way to pass a couple of hours. Get a burger or schnitzel from the cafe by the boating lake to make an afternoon of the visit!

I'm very disappointed about a few things! Some animals are not kept in a species-appropriate manner!! Foxes enclosure far too small and no or not enough places to hide! I also find the owls birds in too small a space. Maybe those responsible should go through it with their eyes open and think about what could be done better.

Really great zoo. Beautifully laid out. Many different animals. There is feeding to attend. Playground for the kids. Coffee and cake for the grown-ups. Dogs are welcome on a leash and there are dog filling stations. Entry is more than OK. The staff is very friendly

Beautiful park, great animals, something for everyone. Some animals can be fed with food that can be purchased in the park. Employees are very friendly.

Good if you have little ones. Animals were well looked after. Word of warning; if you're paying with a prepaid master card instead of having travellers cheques, take small change in euros. My card got declined. I'm assuming credit card will be okay. Nevertheless, a nice little place to visit if you have little ones.

Unfortunately we were very disappointed. In my opinion, the price of €7.50 for this small system is very excessive. The complex was very overgrown, partly run down, unkempt and there were too many construction sites. The playground was nice and food was also provided. Otherwise it was disappointing. Some enclosures were empty others were very small. Personally, I can't recommend it, at least not for the price. 2.5 🌟

Were there on a Monday; Unfortunately there is only limited parking space, but since there wasn't that much going on, we still managed to get a parking space. Entrance fee for adults was €7.50 (that's okay; after all, the animals have to be looked after and the facility maintained). Unfortunately, it has often been the case that the automatic feeder right in front of the petting zoo was broken; with a note that food can be purchased at the entrance. It would be nice if this notice could also be found at the entrance. The steep path to the entrance and back would have been too far with the children. Still, we're always happy to come back.

Very nice little "zoo", perfect for a leisurely visit alone or especially with the kids to switch off. Prices are completely reasonable and yet you can see a surprising number of different animals, and you can also feed some of the animals, which is especially great for the kids. The zoo has developed beautifully in recent years and a lot of effort is being made to improve/beautify it.

Surprinsingly large zoo, internet site did not give justice to it. I was especially awed by the aspic vipers, very active during the day. Very nice for families too. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the region.

Small but nice. You can get through it in 2-3 hours. Great for the morning or in between. Please note; it only goes up. No flat paths.

Enclosures too small, many enclosures empty, some run down. Unfortunately no recommendation. Donations are asked on every corner. The staff tries very hard to get the best out of it.

A small, beautiful zoo with many local animals, including a petting zoo and mouse house. Very friendly staff and good value for money for food and drinks. Always worth a visit every now and then. And then to the Stadtrainsee, let your mind wander, or you can also go on a pedal boat or rowing boat. There is also a Kneipp water treading pool as well as a mini golf course and other restaurants nearby

Small zoo with fish, birds, owls, goats, lynxes, chickens (small fighting rooster) etc. The facility is getting old and relies on donations. The city of Waldkirch could support this! Still worth a visit!

Nice little zoo with a nice playground. Kids also liked feeding the goats, sheep and alpacas. Unfortunately their website isn't very up to date. So some of the animals and events aren't available atm. Also food and drinks rather limited

As the name suggests, the zoo is located in Blackforest Waldkirch and takes care of Some of the rare animals and birds in Blackforest including some livestock animals. It can be easily reached from Freiburg im Breisgau via S bahn to Waldkirch and then a short walk from the Waldkirch bahnhof. Waldkirch , a small town in blackforest has some outstanding things to do for day trippers in Blackforest. A small lake to relax after Zoo visit and a Forest park on top. Then, you can also have a hike to Kastelburg hill ruin. The Zoo has several animals and birds of at least 50 different species , although some reptiles, amphibian species have been relocated. And Sadly, after spending 21 years, one of the Lynx has died recently. Special : Red Fox, Owls including Siberian, European and Snow owl, Alpine Ibex, Wallby, Antwerpner Bartwerg , Silkie Chicken. The Zoo is open during march to Oktober months with entree fees. Check out some images from March 2022.

Sweet little zoo. In my opinion, the zoo is particularly suitable for smaller children, there are goats to pet, a nice playground and it's not far to walk, just a little up the mountain, which doesn't bother me personally. There could be more parking spaces.

We really enjoyed the visit to the zoo. It is small, very cozy, many animals are very visible. Some animals are allowed to be fed and come quite close out of habit. There is a nice playground, snack bar and waffle kiosk. If you reserve a place in advance, you can have a barbecue. It's wonderful to feel the fresh air of the Black Forest during the hike. We will be back definitely!

Small as others have said but good entry price and really pleasant walk. Only takes a couple hours, found it by accident and loved it.

The zoo will be very difficult for us to rate. But first let it be said that we have been regular visitors to the zoo since 2021 (annual ticket). There are some animals to feed and pet, ideal for children, as well as a nice little playground. The zoo is suitable for children up to the age of 6 as it is quite small and older children quickly run through it, which quickly bores them. There are also a few "exotic" native animals :) The zoo is not suitable for visitors who are no longer able to walk very well or who need a wheelchair, for example; there is a lot of uphill, sometimes very steep hills. There are toilets at the entrance that are clean, but the toilets at the top of the playground can sometimes be less clean. There is only a small food truck on weekends, the prices are okay. Because it was very busy, I got half-cooked fries for the first time and the gentleman who worked in the snack bar seemed very listless and uncoordinated... In general, the zoo is a small, permanent construction site and sometimes quite neglected. There are loose cables lying around, some things are provisionally set up, you can tell that there is a lack of money here. The friendliness of the staff is good, but sometimes it also depends on the mood of the employees. It's still ok for our son (3 years old), but this will probably be the last season with an annual ticket. There are nice events at Easter and Halloween, there could be more events, e.g. spring festival, summer festival or something like that.

Very very horrible! The animals look sickly, they keep a fox and a snow owl- animals that obviously do not belong there, the fox seemed intimidated and kept chewing on his own paws, the snow owl is kept in a tiny metal cage that is barely high enough for it to fly! Most animals seem very thin, some are visibly weak, you can see whole spines, too. Overall, it's also very messy, there's buckets laying around and most everything looks more like a construction side than anything else. I'm shocked, I've seen some parks in this area, some with small cages as well, but dear Lord, I'm at loss of words, really. Edit; I've just read through some more reviews and I'm confused by how unprofessional the staff/ owner seems to be! Another reason to never return.
