Great off the beaten path place in the heart of Nassau! From The Reef at Atlantis, walk down the beach until you hit a rocky area - you’ll have to scramble over rocks for a ways, so good shoes are key. Scramble over the rocks to an area full of abandoned houses, and there’s a low green gate (or hop the low wall). Then follow a dirt path through the brush which will put you back on the beach. Total walk is about 2 miles each way but it’s slow going given the sharp rocks. Definitely do-able… I took my 6, 8, 11, and 13yo kids with me. The light house itself is open but be careful climbing up - some of the wooden flooring feels a little rotten. Great view of the cruise ships and Atlantis from the top!

Not for the feint of heart...guard dogs and things that go bump in the night...all present. If you make it through, you’ll be rewarded with amazing 360’ views of the western tip of the island. The lighthouse is fully functioning, as are the stairs to the top. Bring water and your a-game.

Worth the trek. We started from cove beach. You’ll encounter some sharp rocks to climb until you reach a stone wall. You can hop over it or trespass through an open gate for like 50 feet. You’ll encounter a second wall that doesn’t go all the way to the shore and can walk around. Then more beach and more rocks till the lighthouse. About 2 hours each way from the Coral.

Another reviewer stated they walked here from Paradise Island. Also found websites saying you can walk here as well as to Colonial Beach. While this is possible you have to go through private property and cross some rough rocky areas to get there. So leave your flip flops at home and put on your walking shoes. If you're staying at Atlantis or have a day pass start off walking west on Paradise beach. If not, follow Paradise Beach drive through the tunnel and then left alonh the parking lot. Go straight past it into the shipping yard beyond it. Hook a right all the way up to the beach, then left along the beach. If you choose to follow the dirt road like one website says to do you end up at a water treatment plant or something with a big do not enter sign. Past that is some kind of yoga retreat where they may look at you funny. The dirt road ends there anyway so you'll have to hit the beach regardless. Paradise Beach ends not long after the yoga retreat and you'll have to scramble over the rocks. The rocks are sharp so watch your step. You'll come to a wall that you can't scramble past. You should hopefully be able to go through the big gate to your left into some kind of camp with cabins. It was empty when I was there. Hang a right and another gate will get you back onto the rocks. Scramble the rest of the way to Colonial Beach, then it's an easy walk up the beach to the lighthouse. The lighthouse doorway was open and allowed access all the way up.

Very famous lighthouse in Nassau. The trick is to understand how to enjoy it properly. Do not go and venture out to the lighthouse, the key is to see it from the top of a cruise ship and as the cruise ship is leaving Nassau you can get a nice view of the lighthouse along with the island.

Beautiful lighthouse and in an amazing area. Views were amazing and even better from the rest of the island. Not easy to access and had to prepay for tour since on cruise ship, but worth it.

This beautiful historical lighthouse is very difficult to get to, and currently there are no official tours. You must hike through colonial beach to access it, and the last half mile is over very jagged rocks. If visiting, bring plenty of water, food, and a good pair of shoes. Be very careful walking over the rocks and respect all postings and security. If you make it, the experience is incredible, but I warn that it is a hike to get there, and you should avoid trespassing into any of the dilapidated buildings nearby.

As for many people, this lighthouse holds a special place in our hearts due to the fact that it welcomed us to Nassau the first and second time we visited Nassau (on cruises) and we reminisced as we viewed it during our recent week long visit! The photo shows the Adventure of the season which was the first cruise ship post covid. It had just arrived to pick up passengers to embark from Nassau. (We were on a dinner cruise)

Nick took me on a tour of the lighthouse. It is not an official visitable place so you need to work out how to get there.

Lighthouses in other countries so much fun!!! This was a cool place to see. I didn't have time to actually go to the light house we road a boat past it before we went snorkeling. I love this place it was carefree and fun times when I was younger. Until next time.....miss you

I did it! My Bahamas mission of 2023 is complite. It was a lot easier to get there than I expected. What an amazing experience! The view from the top of the lighthouse is stunning and breathtaking! Be very careful with the stairs tho, some of them are really in a bad condition. And always check the weather before your journey to the lighthouse. You will see a lot of abandoned houses. They are all beautiful, charming and unique. It is so sad nobody wants to live here anymore.

One of the most photographed light houses in the world. I wish they had a way for you to get here by foot so you could explore it a little closer. But to my knowledge, the only way to get closer is to rent a private boat which was $180. So much to see you do on the island of Nassau. I absolutely love it here.

Absolutely beautiful! We were aboard Royal Caribbeans Harmony of the Seas. The port when we arrived was beautiful. However, it was very busy, to say the least! There were FIVE cruise ships in port at the same time! Too many people for this very small area!!! I will say, though, that Nassau has a new welcome center under way at the cruise port, which is expected to be completed in May 2023! They definitely need that. We saw it under construction, and it is going to be massive. Overall, the views from the ship were much nicer than fighting through the crowds of thousands of people in that small area.
