Want some homemade Jamaican food, stop by this mom and pop place. I tried their jerk chicken and the lady gave me a sample of the curry chicken and it just melted in your mouth and the potatoes were cooked to perfection. Each meal comes with rice and beans, cabbage, plantains and a soda. I’ll be back on the weekend to try their oxtail for sure.

Been here a couple of times and tried the beef patties, jerk chicken, their veggie plate and now the curry goat and oxtails. Just good food period! The young lady that works there on the weekends even gave us a sample of the brown-stew chicken OMGee that dish there is the bomb-diggity. Yep I said that. lol We’ll get that next visit and try something else different as well. Pleasant people who work there. Thanks for being in Bakersfield. We don’t have many places like this here.

Quick Summary Had this place bookmarked for a while, so glad to try it out for lunch. Tried the standard jerk chicken and it was pretty good (not overly salty or oily, which was nice to not have food coma) Food- 5 stars Tried the standard jerk chicken, but want to try out the oxtail and goat in the future. The jerk chicken plate was pretty good. Plenty of spices to add the flavor without being overly salty or oily like most chicken plates. The rice, vegetables, and plantains were pretty good too Bottom Line An excellent addition to my Bakersfield restaurant rotation.

I was in town to see the almond blossoms and came across this place on Yelp. I was surprised and excited to find a genuine Caribbean restaurant out here (granted I know very little about Bakersfield). First the food. We ordered the jerk chicken plate. You get jerk chicken, rice and peas, cabbage, and fried plantains for $10. The chicken was moist and you can really taste the seasoning. The best part for me was the tangy sauce he poured on top of the chicken. I wish I had asked for extra. It was sooo good! They have a few tables outside with umbrellas you can sit and dine at but mostly everyone did drive through while we were there. Barrington is the Chef and namesake of this hole in the wall gem. He was incredibly friendly. I couldn’t decide on the brown stew chicken or the jerk chicken so he gave me a sample. We also had been on the road and out and about for nearly five hours and needed to use the restroom really badly. He was kind enough to let us use his private restroom which really saved the day for us. He said he’s been cooking traditional food like this since he was a young boy. His passion really showed with every interaction he encountered. Too bad it’s a three hour drive from me. If I’m ever back in town I’ll definitely come again to try curry or the oxtail. Ugh, my mouth is watering watering now!

This location has been on my list of places to go since I stumbled across it in some searches. I am always looking for something different than the mainstream for options to eat. I am pleased to report that I was not disappointed with this small Jamaican restaurant! Customer service was great. The girl helping me was very pleasant and helpful. They were out of rice, which is why it's not a five star review. They did give me extra cabbage to compensate the lack of rice. The jerk chicken plate is where it's at! Perfectly seasoned and cooked to a savory decadence! It doesn't end there with their very unique cabbage side dish. It carried a slight spice and tasted delicious. My child fell in love with the cooked plantain. It was sweet and savory, swimming in a Carmel type sauce. You should take the time to order from here. I look forward to hearing your take on this small and simple yet flavorful and unique restaurant!

Fabulous people, generous amount of food, 2 outdoor seating to enjoy the sunset at a fenced area of a parking lot. Asked for a sampler as a first time customer, and got to try so much deliciousness! A family member who dislike meat ate up half of another box of browned chicken & rice that I ordered 👏🏻 - jerk chicken was flavourful and juicy - brown chicken was delish, but not as moist. Still yummy though! - curry chicken was great. BUT what would I come back for? Def the oxtails and curry goat. I’m a huge fan of goat and this was done right. And I’m NOT a fan of oxtails, but this was ALSO SO DONE RIGHT. 👏🏻 And they gave us complimentary sodas. What?! Wonderful pit stop of our road trip. I like that they had masks and gloves on for the Covid cautious too. Will def be back for their legit food!

First time ordering. I was in the mood for some real food. It's good. I have nothing bad to say. Not one thing. I hope it's always this good cause I'll be back. Not to mention the great price. I know it would have been less expensive if I puckering up myself. Next time I'll pick it up myself. The food is great. Not to spicy. I cant have to much spice because of my heartburn. So this is great! Thank you for selling regular ole good food!

We stopped while driving through town…and it was so good we stopped on the way back. Incredibly friendly service and great food (goat curry pictured). I will return whenever I’m in Bakersfield!

Wow. I stopped at Barrington’s on a road trip just for a quick bite… I wasn’t expecting to be absolutely blown away. Amazing, authentic Jamaican food that I would feast on at least weekly if I could. I’m definitely going back next time I’m around, but please open a location in LA/Orange County too!!

My first time trying jerk chicken and it will not be the last! The chicken was very moist and tender and seasoned very well. The plantains were good and I loved the spices on the cabbage. Would recommend.

Food used to be so good but for the past few months it has not been hitting like it used to. I get using chicken on the bone but almost every bite had a small piece of bone that I can almost choke on and almost miss it. Its tedious having to constantly take it out of my mouth whereas before the chicken was just attached on the bone & not pieces of the bones itself in the stew. Also, the servings have been getting way smaller and sometimes barely getting any meat and just filling the plate with rice. Like another reviewer said it seems like we're getting scraps now

This Jamaican Restaurant is nothing short of spectacular! The food was to die for, the flavors and spices blended together in perfect harmony, the chicken and goat were cooked perfectly, and the overall price CAN NOT BE BEAT ANYWHERE. The food was easily a 12/10. And apart from the food, the owners are super nice and engaging. This restaurant gives a TRUE "home-cooked" feel. It honestly felt like I was walking into their kitchen / living room and getting a plate of food right from the stove. This place is a must-go in Bakersfield. And to top it all off, Stephanie makes her own healthy pressed juices that are way better than any chain brands you'll find at Whole Foods or the sorts.

First time trying. And I must say I was disappointed. The jerk chicken was interesting, some of it was really fresh and tender and other pieces were tough and dry, and the sauce tasted store bought, the curry goat did not taste like curry and lacked sauce. The prices are good though and the homemade juices are good, hopefully the food will improve, good luck guys!
