This place has really gone down hill. There are teenagers that go to the marketplace and terrorizing people and their cars. I had a rock thrown at my window just driving to find a parking space and glass broke with tiny babies in my car and the officers did nothing. My baby had gotten cut from the glass. Don’t go to this place anymore. I’ve called the police on those kids and they never do anything. Even though those kids are breaking the law and should be arrested and sent to a detention hall. I guarantee some of those kids belong to the officer that comes and doesn’t do anything. It’s not safe here anymore. I’m disappointed at the officers that are suppose to keep the public safe.

Was a nice, safe, quiet place to shop for upscale men's and women's clothing. Was also the only location in Bakersfield to shop for upscale kitchen and dining ware. Then places started closing up, one after another, to where now the Market Place is good for shopping at Vons and dining, maybe if you're lucky, at Tahoe Joe's. I say maybe because if they under-cook your steak, you will still have to pay even though they only take your under-cooked steak, cut it in half down the length of the steak, quick fry it then serve it back to you. Too bad for this location

Sadly, no more. What was once an enjoyable experience with the shopping and dining options, we would visit once or twice a week. Love Mama Tosca's, Noodle Bar, China Bistro and Tahoe's plus the various shops we frequent. Now we see groups of teens riding bikes in packs and harassing, even accosting customers along the walks and parking lot. Reported to the security officers who had witnessed the incident when two riders barreled towards us just to swerve at the last moment in an attempt to intimidate us, laughing as they rode past. Security said "We're taking note of them for BPD" an walked away. There's other shops and restaurants nearby that we'll spend our money with. Good bye Marketplace.

Ohh Market Place, I remember coming here as a sad teenager to hang out with other sad teenagers back in, dear god that must have been 20 years ago. Anyways, it's all gone to hell since then. They still have the upper crust boutiques that no one outside the glorious Hagan Oaks can possibly afford. They've got the theater, which smells a bit like urine and sadness most of the time, but that's to be expected I suppose. And then there's, well, I guess Five Guys, but I've gotten food poisoning from them before, so maybe try out the urine soaked theater instead. Oh Marketplace, how my nostalgia for you grows fonder.

The food is good. But, they need staff that understands English. The male server today didn't even know what the Family Meal consisted of. Finally, a woman that knew the menu filled the order correctly. Had to wait 10 minutes while they refilled some trays. I like it hot and fresh so it was worth the wait.

The marketplace is a great place to shop in a very nice part of town. They offer boutique stores you won't find anywhere else in town. They are a little pricey but considering the area of town, it's expected.

I like this place, I like shopping here and get ice cream a lot here with the family. Recently I've been seeing huge cockroaches on the seats and in the planters by the waterfall. They are everywhere and it's just disgusting. As a former pest control guy I know they can be easily controlled and treated. Its almost infested. Hopefully they get this fixed

  • 5/5 David Z. 1 year ago on Google
I really appreciate the cleanliness of this shopping center. They have a great variety of stores. I do however miss some of the stores no longer there such as Jos. A Banks. I also miss Williams Sonoma. The movie theatre draws a huge influx of movie goers on Friday nights typically. Thursday night concerts by the fountain are always a fun event for the whole family.

Thursday evening Concerts by the Fountain are a great time for the whole family. The kids love running around, dancing, and making friends. Parents and grandparents have a bunch of food choices and enjoy grooving along to the music as well.

  • 2/5 Shannon T. 11 months ago on Google
We really like this Marketplace. The reason for two stars is the large groups of unchecked teenagers riding bikes/skateboards recklessly and trashing the area around 5 Guys. Throwing their cups and trash on the ground and riding through/around people with no regard for anyone. I didn’t see any security anywhere, and the employees inside 5 Guys were clearly frustrated with the group of a dozen or so.

  • 3/5 Keith P. 11 months ago on Google
It's a nice place to walk or bike to in the daytime, but I avoid it at night, especially on Fridays because of rowdy teenagers. I do like the free concerts which I see if nothing is on TV that night. But since they attract a large crowd I have to get there about an hour before the show to get a good seat.

Used to be a nice shopping center until many businesses had to leave because the rents were ridiculously high and out of control teens are allowed to vandalize and terrorize the place.

Went here for lunch at Deli Delicious, which is always, well; delicious. While we waited for the food to be prepped, went to Starbucks next door for our usual mid afternoon coffee fix. The barista, Aaron; seemed amazingly disgruntled at the fact that he had to put his phone away to take our order. He informed me my usual drinks I order in a trenta at other locations repetitively; would not be able to be made in this size. He continued to very blatantly express what could almost be described as disgust throughout the placement of our almost $30 order; using methods of ringing in our items to purposefully make them come to be higher than usual pricing. After we paid and moved to wait for the next customer, he proceeded to lean against the counter and scroll through his phone, allowing the other already busy barista to take his place at the register as well. I definitely won't be returning to this location, and will recommend others find a more assistive location, where the employees are actually willing to assist you. With customer service at the cornerstone of an industry such as Starbucks, it's disgraceful that the management does not place customer first training at the forefront of their onboarding. It seems the other baristas working that day were doing exactly that, but this one employee in particular must have missed that day of training. After working in the service industry for over a decade, I can speak to experience that your weakest employee is a direct reflection of your management, and this management must be despicable.

It used to be my favorite spot enjoy an ice cream but since the pandemic and the closure of the movie theater the area attracts those type of young kids who smokes weeds and do crazy things which not for me anymore.

the marketplace is a great place for getting something quick to eat it has a Starbucks it has a great Chinese place and some other restaurants as well such as Johnny garlic's. It has a theater and a shopping center and a drugstore. For adults that can be a little bit of a drawback because a lot of teenagers enjoy spending their summer times near the theater meeting their friends. But the security is generally good and the and the children are generally well-behaved. The biggest highlight for the marketplace is the art fair that they have once a year keep an eye out for that next to the marketplace is also a farmers market that is on the weekends. It is located just across the street from the Applebee's. As a teacher I like to go there in the early morning when I want to get a special treat for my students Donuts are always a special thing and I get them from Vons

Always enjoy coming here for a nice cold White Gummi from Jamba Juice & relaxing at their outdoor tables & umbrellas. Some days I choose to go eat at Tahoe Joe's & other times at 🍎 Applebee's. There is also a womderful clean Vons Grocery store here as well. A nice Bank of America & Chase Bank as well. A nice 50 style diner & a place to get a good pizza 🍕 & one of my shops to get shirts from is Mainland. They have plenty of shops to choose from & even an ULTA for make up needs & beauty products. Sol to sole shoe store is there as well & they have great shoes to choose from as well as a great assortment of socks from ankle & crew & no show socks. Even a good Carl's Jr. here to buy a delicious Western Bacon 🥓 double cheeseburger 🍔 with criss cut fries 🍟 😋. Yup there is plenty to do here & if that's not enough you can catch a MOVIE at Edward's Cinema Theaters thats playing all the latest 🎥 Movie's that are out right now. Go see for yourself & have a great time.👍🏼

This is an incredible spot to come socialize with friends family and others. There's a lot of great restaurants here, they have a movie theater and a lot of great shops in the plaza. Every once in a while they home little social event for the community which are incredible.

🫤 Late night playground for the obnoxious unemployed youth of Bakersfield living off the tax payers. If you have shopping to be done here do it as early in the day as possible. Illegal racing sideshows pop up periodically in the parking lot also so don't get yourself run over by 4-cylinder "racecar"...
