Cristo Rei is probably the most iconic statue located in Dili, if not, probably in all Timor Leste. You don't need to be christian to appreciate it's splendor. It sits high on hill top that overlooks the harbor. The other side of the hill, the side that's opposite of Dili, is very beautiful and mostly undisturbed by urban encroachment. Timor Leste is hard visit from most parts of the world. If visits are planned to the country, Cristo Rei is a must destination.

Cristo Rei mountain has the best view of the beach and city of Dili. Best spot for sunrise and sunset. The location is the icon of Dili. Cristo rei is the tallest statue in Timor.

Nice place to see sunset. Historical statue for Indonesia and Timor Leste. Nowadays, some people do running there. No entry fee. In front of parking area, you can buy coconut, only 1$. The best time to go there, morning and afternoon for sunset.

I took a taxi there around 6am and walked up. There were many others walking, and there were also joggers and runners. The 14 stations of the cross are marked along the way. You could take a rest along the way if needed as you embark on the 500+ steps. It was a beautiful sunrise (every Dili sunrise is beautiful!), and it made for a nice backdrop to the statue.

The Christo Rei of Christ the King of Dili is a 27.0-metre-high statue of Jesus Christ mounted atop a globe at the peak of Cape Fatucama in Dili, East Timor. This is one of East Timor's main tourist attractions, was built in 1996 by the government of Indonesia. One needs to have own vehicle to reach to this place. Public transports like Microlet #12 or taxis are also available from Dili to arrive here. The beaches at both sides of this statue are beautiful. Awesome views of Sunrise and Sunsets can be watched from footstep of the statue of Lord Christ.

I really love this place, its such a beautiful place with a gorgeous scenery of Dili city and the beaches. If you go to Timor Leste you must visit this place...Cristo Rei..the statue of Jesus Christ. It was built when Timor Leste still part of Indonesia. It was built on the top of a hill, we can see the beautiful beaches with white sand under.

Beautiful views. It is a little bit of a hike up stairs so it is not for the faint at heart. However going to the top amd seeing it was worth it. Just wish they kept the statue up better.

Such a beautiful spot to watch the sun rise and enjoy spectacular views of the mountainous landscapes and coastline fringed with reefs. It's quite a climb up with a mix of steps and well-graded pathway. Early in the morning you may find others doing exercise at dawn - go with a group and bring a torch.

Came here last week to catch the sunrise. Not many people around at that time. The monument is on a peninsula so at the peak one can see the sea on both sides

One of the most important things to see in Dili and Timor-Leste as a whole. I found it hard to believe that Christo Rei is apparently the 2nd largest statue of Christ in the world! Very impressive. Come here for the sunset, as the views are beautiful and temperature not as hot as midday.

Super vista point. From the other side of the statue is a superb beach, torqoise water and nice diving by the cliff. From the Rei statie is a magnificent view on the city, cove and unforgatable sunset.

Go early or late....it's hot. The statue is bigger than expected. A plaque with some info would have been nice. The views are terrific. Bring water

This is a lovely, favourite place to visit in Dili. It is surprisingly quiet and peaceful, even on Easter Sunday when we visited. You can catch mikrolet 12 or 01 from the centre of Dili, or if you choose to walk it will take 1 to 1.5 hours depending on your speed. It is a nice walk past several beaches if you leave early to avoid the heat, but there are many places with no shade in the middle of the day so it would be quite hot. The steps to the top are easy for people with average fitness. There is also a lovely quiet beach behind the hill. There are many nice places to eat and drink along Cristo Rei Beach just a few minutes walk back from the bottom of the steps to the statue.
