We recently stayed at the property for two nights. This was one of the best experiences we’ve had in the recent times! Hotel: We checked in late the first day, host was still there and welcomed us with a great spirit. The property is very calming in itself. The room decor was lavish and rustic, definitely a sense of personal touch just like home but with great views! We had a pool front studio and the views were just too dreamy! Lakehouse Restaurant: the breakfast spread was good. Have enough options for any dietary requirement. The place serves some great views again while you enjoy your morning coffee. The dinner was the highlight of our stay. The staff were warm and attentive. The food was brilliant, some of the dishes were better beyond expectations. Wine suggestion was spot on. Overall service and food is impeccable. If you’re visiting soon, you’re in for a great time!

The Lake House in Daylesford is a hidden gem that promises an extraordinary dining experience in a tranquil setting. Renowned for their exceptional food and service, this place has managed to maintain its prestigious 2-hat status for good reason. From the moment you step in, prepare to be swept away by a culinary journey that will leave you speechless. Each course is a work of art, expertly crafted to tantalize your taste buds with a symphony of flavors. The dedicated staff are attentive yet unobtrusive, ensuring that every moment feels like a special occasion. The remote location adds to the allure of this establishment, offering a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Impeccable premises, cozy rooms, and warm hospitality make your stay truly unforgettable. The dining experience at the restaurant is nothing short of phenomenal, with dishes made from fresh produce sourced from the hotel's own farm and local producers. For those craving a luxurious getaway, Lake House is a dream come true. Whether you're indulging in a 4-course dinner or exploring the scenic surroundings, every moment spent here is pure bliss. Make sure to book a tour of the farm for a truly exclusive experience. With outstanding service, stunning views of the lake, and a welcoming atmosphere, Lake House offers a true taste of paradise. Treat yourself to a memorable dining experience and let yourself be pampered in style. Highly recommended for anyone seeking an exceptional culinary adventure. Alex

Unbelievable experience from start to finish. The service was 10/10 the food was to die for and the general experience is an absolute must. Rarely do we walk away after spending this sort of money satisfied but in this instance can genuinely say it is worth every cent and more.

Overall, great experience for a Sunday lunch celebration. Picturesque area by the lake. Ambience was good, food was excellent, and service was good although courses did come out quite slow for us whereas another couple who came for later seating had their desserts much quicker. Dishes we liked - blue fin tuna, scallops, chicken liver parfait, Murray cod (was very well cooked), Angus beef, chocolate tart.

We had our wedding here and could not have picked a better venue. The food was delicious and the service was incredible. The staff are all incredibly helpful, patient and kind. They accommodated every request and made sure our wedding went smoothly. It actually rained on the day of our wedding but we still loved the backup indoor venue. We'd recommend Lake House to anyone.

Would like spend whole day in there. Looks like old school that pick up fresh ingredients form own farm has been combined with innovation to make it to the dining table. The most surprising one is use chicken liver made parfait like a dessert, with plum and Madeira jelly on this slightly sweet cake a bite down from this happiness 😌

My partner and I had an amazing three night stay, it was the best place I've stayed! We had a waterfront room with the most stunning view. Dinner at the restaurant and a relaxing massage. All of the staff were so wonderful. Highly recommend!

Restaurant related review only The plates were big, the meals were small and the bill extortionate. More than happy to pay top dollar for great food, drink and location but simply put the food wasn't nice. For $185 per head I expected so much more. The choices were lacking (apart from seafood), no beef and the mushroom curd was inedible. On a positive note, the staff were very nice and attentive.

Really beautiful place to relax, unwind and recharge. The food was amazing and the staff couldn't do enough for you. I would like to experience it again during the summertime. I attended during winter which was lovely and cosy. I would also like to sit on the deck area overlooking the lake and use the pool, during the warmer weather. Both experiences would be unique. I had a great time and will definitely do it again.

If I could give 10 stars, I would!! Lake House, Daylesford is one of the BEST luxury hotels I’ve stayed in anywhere in the world. The rooms are super comfortable and clean. The facilities are fantastic! We used the tennis court and the spa and sauna several times. The food in the restaurant is worth the stay alone. Beautiful, fresh produce for the hotel’s very own farm (Dairy Flat Farm) and other local producers. The breakfast and 4 course dinner were absolutely divine. The service from all the staff is first class (thank you Rosa and Kathrine). The location is absolutely beautiful. We spent the morning walking around the lake and some of the local trail walks. Make sure you book your place for a tour of the farm which is exclusive to in-house guests. I can’t speak highly enough about Lake House. Thank you to all the staff for making it so special. We can’t wait to come back!

Amazing food and service. After all these years, they are able to maintain 2 hats. We had a 4 course dinner. Every course was a masterpiece, a symphony of flavors that left me speechless, each bite was a celebration of culinary artistry. The staff truly elevated the experience. Attentive without being intrusive, they made me feel like a valued guest. The atmosphere is hushed yet inviting, a perfect balance for intimate conversations or simply savoring the moment. If you're seeking a dining experience that goes beyond the ordinary, The Lake House is a must-visit. Prepare to be dazzled, pampered, and utterly satisfied. Highly recommended!

It has been many years since I last visited Lake House restaurant. So I wanted to try it again and hoping to trace back some good memories. It was a 4 course dinner with a few choices to choose from. The food was tasty but I felt they were lacking some finesse. The service was good but not to the 2 hat standard. Overall, it was nice to be back but I felt the experience was not as good as I was expecting.

The servers and maître d' were so warm and welcoming, their service was outstanding. The moment we entered with our six month old son, their attentiveness over exceeded our expectations. Treating ourselves to the four course degustation, it was an experience to be had. We enjoyed each course accompanied by sides and paired wine. Beautiful view of the lake, stunning setting during sunset.

Lake House restaurant and hotel is a wonderful experience. We stayed 2 nights enjoying the quiet luxurious rooms with great views across the lake, pre-dinner cocktails on the glorious balcony and mineral water filled infinity pool. But of course, the 2 hatted restaurant with 4 course dinner with paired wines was outstanding - the waiter service was very helpful & attentive, and every dish was a complex, sensory delight with an excellent vegetarian selection.

Disappointing Experience Due to Lack of Flexibility and Understanding I had to unfortunately cancel a dinner reservation at the Lake House as my partner fell very unwell. Understanding their policy, I was prepared for some form of cancellation charge. However, the way the situation was handled left much to be desired. When I called to cancel, I was immediately informed that they typically charge the full fee but would instead charge $50 per person. Which is not inline with the stated terms, but the lack of flexibility shown in an emergency situation was disappointing. I was put on the spot and given no alternative options. Seeking a compromise, I called back within a minute to inquire if we could reschedule the dinner to a later date, even offering to travel back to Daylesford specifically for this. Unfortunately, I was told that my credit card had already been charged and they would not consider a refund. What added to the frustration was the absence of any managerial intervention. The decision to process the $100 fee was made swiftly, with seemingly no consideration for the circumstances or my attempts to find a mutually acceptable solution. While I understand the need for cancellation policies, a degree of empathy and flexibility in unforeseen situations would be nice. This instance was a letdown, especially considering there was no attempt from management to personally address the situation.

The food at the Lake house is worthy of praise, the ambiance is wonderful, service is personal (they'll remember you at their farmers market stall) Will be back, without a doubt.

The staff were so kind and helpful. My partner and I were overwhelmed by their wonderful service as it was a different level of dining experience that was new to us. They were professional but relaxed, so did not make us feel out of place in such a beautiful and elegant restaurant. It was lovely that they acknowledged that we had originally booked it for my birthday celebration although we had needed to reschedule, which was done easily and quickly when I called a few weeks ago. The food was divine and gave us the opportunity to try cuisine outside of our norm. It was a cold and rainy weekend so the warm fireplace and couches was a lovely place to have quiet drink before dinner. The venue was calm and organised, which allowed us to absorb it's atmosphere and enjoy ourselves completely. Thank you very much for adding so much to the experience during our trip to Daylesford.

An amazing four course lunch with premium wine pairings. Sensational and memorable in every way. Lake House continues to set the standard for an exceptional dining experience. It is truly divine in every way. Zero faults. Absolute perfection. Can’t wait to return. Congratulations to the whole team. Thank you.

We got married at the Lake House and cannot recommend it enough as a premier wedding venue for a ceremony and reception. We wanted a venue that would provide exceptional service on our big day and the Lake House events staff and venue coordinators, in particular Ella Forsyth, excelled at ensuring our guests, wedding party and that we had an amazing experience. From the very first venue meeting we knew we could relax knowing we were in safe hands with the events team whose professionalism and warmth felt unparalleled compared to other Victorian venues we had explored. It was the best day of our lives (no small accomplishment) and it was all thanks to the superb attention to detail, impeccable hospitality and world class dining and accomodation at the Lake House. We look forward to future anniversary celebrations here where we can look back with fond memories of our wedding.

Fantastic experience! We thoroughly enjoyed our four-course lunch at Lakes House restaurant. We used a gift voucher for this booking, and we were absolutely delighted by the beautifully cooked and presented meals. The endless selection of drinks complemented the dining experience perfectly, the excellent service provided by the staff made our lunch even more special. We look forward to dining here again next time we are back in Daylesford.

We have now had the very fortunate opportunity to stay at The Lake House on multiple occasions. This week we spent three days and two nights in a beautifully appointed guest room. Room 5 we loved it! Hidden away with its own small private carpark and patio with multiple outdoor seating options. On a previous occasion we had the pool suite which has direct access to the infinity pool and spectacular views of the lake. Lets be clear we loved everything because everything is truly excellent because of the meticulous details and effort the owners, management and the talented team invest. Lets talk food! simply amazing, you absolutely need to experience the restaurant for dinner and breakfast at least once in your life. There is a real reason why the restaurant has 2 hats and it would not surprise me that the 3rd hat is within reach each year. The produce is world class, the dishes are perfectly handcrafted and the Som (Claude) matches the wines outstandingly. The Lobster Raviolo at dinner on the first night was one of the best dishes i have eaten, the delicate lobster filled squid ink raviolo was garnished with flowers and citrus that elevated the delicious meat but it was the jus that stole the show. Imagine a deep pork jus with hints of five spice... so good you needed a second loaf of house baked spelt bread to mop it up! The rest of the menu was stellar but lets point out the prawn brioche for breakfast or the amazing pastries on the big wooden table that hosts the continental breakfast items for you to explore. Did i mention the almond croissant.... O M G! The service is not excellent, its OUTSTANDING!!! Its personable, friendly, inviting, nurturing and on point. The knowledge of the entire team is inspirational. These guys know their stuff and they treat you like house guests. No detail is left to chance. I want to also thank housekeeping for the outstanding quality and cleanliness of the rooms. The little gift each night at turn down, we are particular fans of the bed time pillow mist, thank you. On this occasion we had the pleasure of chatting with the Alla Wolf Tasker at breakfast on both days and her commitment to The Lake House is so evident in her presence and conversation. We are truly blessed that her and her late husband Allan invested a life time of passion, sweat and love into this amazing property and ecosystem. We look forward to returning next year.

Had a wonderful stay at the lake house. The service was the best we have received so far in Australia. Believe the hype, the restaurant is truly amazing. Attention to detail with every dish was incredible and the service to match that. We also enjoyed the farm visit, it was quite informative. The rooms could have been better but no complaints. This place is not kids friendly, all the options here are focused on couples. I would love if they can make it more family friendly.

My family has been coming since the restaurant first opened. It’s always been fantastic, I’m continually amazed that the food is so delicious, different flavors and textures. The staff are knowledgeable and attentive without hovering. Thank for making being GF easy. I love the artwork that has color and depth without being overwhelming. Thank-you for the opportunity to share and create more memories with the ever expanding family.

We had an exceptional birthday dinner at the restaurant. Truly memorable. Our host Amanda and staff were outstanding: thoughtful, insightful and attentive to our every need. The food was sensational, produce fresh from the farm beautifully put together. All complemented by amazing cocktails. The venue was beautiful, elegant and homely. I cannot wait to come back and experience lunch here. A must visit gem in Daylesford.

We had the most fabulous lunch. The food was mind blowing, the flavours were incredible and the food was so fresh and presentation was the best. Our waiter Pablo was lovely and everything we asked for was provided with a smile and all food was explained thooughly. We just loved it. we were invited to have our desert outside on the balcony and the fine service continued whilst we were out there. Loved it and can't wait to go back for another special occasion.

What an incredible and memorable evening we had. It was our 30th wedding anniversary and my husband and our two adult children had dinner here. We asked our waiter, Claude, to please select all the food and pair the wines for our meal. He did such an excellent job and the dinner was exquisite. Thank you also to the rest of the staff and the beautiful ambience in the room. We'll be back for our 40th anniversary:)

Had a 2 night stay at the Lake House. Breakfast and dinner in the restaurant were incredible - fantastic local produce, bread and pastries baked in house too! Staff were attentive, warm and welcoming. 100% would recommend and we can’t wait to visit again!

Had a 2 night stay with husband to celebrate my 60th birthday. Very refined, elegant dinner in the restaurant one night and rustic, delicious in-room dining on the other evening. All the staff in reception/restaurant were fantastic. Also had a 1 hour relaxation massage and half hour soak in mineral water at the Spa - Katherine was excellent with massage and Shelley made sure I was relaxed and comfortable throughout my spa experience. An absolutely wonderful get-away which made my birthday truly memorable.

This is a review for the Lakehouse Restaurant only. Our dinner at the Lakehouse Restaurant was a truly memorable & special experience. The food was delicious, the presentation was amazing, with impressive attention to detail. The waiters were courteous & attentive without being intrusive. From start to finish the experience was exceptional. Thank you very much

We were hosted by Mary, her friendly attitude and menu knowledge were excellent. Every wine she matched for us was a perfect compliment. Her service and attention to detail was impeccable. The restaurant itself is beautiful and homely, the food unique and worthy of the two hats the restaurant has been awarded. A very memorable experience for which I would love to return to. Thank you!

Restaurant is great. I have been twice and both times were amazing. It is expensive but in my opinion it's worth it. You do need to book, it's not the kind of place that can accommodate walk ins.

  • 3/5 Martin B. 1 year ago on Google
Had dinner at the restaurant. Service is good and the staff are very accommodating. Starters and entries where good, but my pork loin main had an unpleasant underdone texture and a big blog of fat that I ended up spitting out. The desert was the highlight and almost made up for the main. Overall, underwhelming and a bit ordinary for the price tag. There are some exceptional restaurants of late that would happily put a smile on your face and a wow on your tongue for a lot less. If your rolling in money and don't mind snobs you'd be at home here. If, like me, you saving up to come here special, I'd go somewhere else.
