Great morning or afternoon outing depending on what you'd like to do. The park offers wildlife experiences throughout the day for an extra cost but the 1 on 1 time with the animals is truly memorable. We did the Tree Kangaroos as well as the Koalas but others are available too. There are also information sessions that can be attended with the keepers. Food from the kiosk was pretty good and not too badly priced either and gift shop visit at the end is also well worth it.

What an awesome sanctuary! Really impressed with the upgrades (I was here 15 years ago as uni students). Brought my young kids here today. Really enjoyed a day out here. Happy to see how relaxed the animals are roaming around the sanctuary. Wonderful collection of reptiles! My son was rapt to see the little penguins (his favourite animals). Keep up the good work.

If you have kids, this place will save the day; whether you’re a local or just visiting. We come here regularly. Our toddler loves it. No matter how many times we visit she has a blast. The cherry on top? SHE ALWAYS NAPS AFTERWARDS. Yes, you can interact with the kangaroos, but if your kid is anything like mine, it’s the reptiles that will stop the show. The layout of the park is wonderful too. Picnic areas. Plenty of space for roaming. Even when it’s busy it doesn’t feel crowded. It also helps to know that the animals are very well cared for and respected, and given plenty of space away from humans when they need it. Conservation is core to the mission here too.

This was a good adventure, even on a cold day. The animals are all well taken care of. They are calm and friendly, you can get up close (except for the tigers maybe). Even the kangaroos are darn cute. They have different meet sessions you can pay extra for; we did a Wombat session met Fudge. Plenty of tables for a picnic lunch or Cafe on site. We were there for about 4 hrs and comfortably got around to everything without rushing.

A nice place to visit. It is small as compared to the wildlife parks you see in cities but the staff is really friendly and it was a nice experience. We were not able to see shows and touch a few animals due to government regulations but we were happy with feeding the kangaroos

Fun for kids to run around feeding the kangaroos but not a whole day activity. It was great for a couple of hours before going home. Lovely staff and animals were friendly. Definitely buy kangaroo food.

Compare with Melbourne zoo, Ballarat Wildlife park brings me a wonderful experience. Staffs are well trained and friendly, emu and kangaroo just so free to go wherever they want, I can feed and touch them without window glass. Nice choice for couples, family and kids! Only a pity that I didn’t have luck to see tiger this time. Will be back one day.

My experience at Ballarat Wildlife Park was simply incredible. From the moment I entered the park I was greeted by a vibrant atmosphere and surrounded by an array of fascinating animals. Feeding the kangaroos was one of the best parts. These adorable and curious creatures approached me, gently taking food from my hands. It was a unique feeling to be so close to these incredible animals. In addition to the kangaroos, I had the opportunity to see the majestic Bengal tigers. I confess that I was impressed by the size and beauty of these cats. They exuded an imposing presence as they rested in their enclosures. I was also able to observe the dingoes, with their wild look and natural elegance. I can't fail to mention the koalas, who were just adorable. Seeing these lazy, fluffy creatures clinging to the trees, living their peaceful lifestyle, brought a sense of serenity to my heart. As I roamed the park I also encountered a variety of other animals such as wombats, emus, wallabies and colorful birds. Each encounter was an opportunity to learn more about Australia's amazing wildlife and appreciate its diversity. Overall, my experience at Ballarat Wildlife Park was truly wonderful. I recommend everyone to visit and have the chance to connect with nature in a unique way. It's a place where you can appreciate the beauty of animals, learn about conservation and create lasting memories.

I'm not a fan of zoos and parks like this but have to say I was pleasantly surprised. There is a line to be drawn between captivity and education. They do it well here and recommend a visit. As soon as you walk in, you'll see the meerkats which frankly, if I could live stream them on my computer, I'd watch them all day. There are around 100 free roaming kangaroos and although there are signs on 'how to feed' them, I'd recommend not. The penguins are adorable as are the dingos, wombats and koalas. Sad to see a tiger pacing up the back of the cage but he/she certainly let out a roar which took me by surprise. The reptile centre was very interesting and of a high standard of presentation. There are scheduled times to meet the animals 'up close and personal' and recommend you plan your day around some of these. Plenty of car parking, picnic tables available and wide open grassy areas. There is a cafe but it wasn't open when I was there. The gift shop is stocked with adorable stuffed animals and tourist items. Excellent for school groups, families or the day tripper like myself.

It was a great day out. Very interactive and informative. The kangaroos and Emu's were just so chilled around people. I paid for 2 experiences with the wombats and a beautiful python which was amazing and worth every cent. We are lucky to have such unique fauna in Australia and this park makes you appreciate that.

Had a fantastic time at the Wildlife Park when my partner and I visited. The staff are super friendly and happy to chat to us and answer any questions we had on the wildlife. The Kangaroos were friendly and come right up to you. We even had a couple of emu come right up to us on their walk around the park which was amazing. We booked our tickets online and showed up not long after opening and got to explore before it started to get busy on a Friday. Highly recommend, we will be back next time we’re in the area again.

Definitely heading back soon 😄

What a lovely little park. Reasonably priced, very friendly staff and great variety of animals. Amazing experience with the free roaming kangaroos. Educational information on signs wasn’t uniform and some enclosures had no sign so made the educational experience a little difficult. Overall really good and will be back.

Good selection of animals and a very enjoyable visit! Loved that they had quite a few animal presentations that are included in the ticket price (they start after 12pm). Favourite part is being able to feed the freely roaming kangaroos that come up close and able to be petted.

Although a relatively small park, it is packed with wildlife. Park rangers are friendly and highly knowledgeable. The sole cafe was sufficient for the mid walk refreshments. Actually the food was quite decent for semi-meal/snack type food. Free roaming kangaroos for visitors to feed and regular presentations and encounters where you can handle the animals. Overall I felt it was a bit too pricey for the experience, but definitely worth a one time visit if you're in the Ballarat area or passing through.

Not a massive park but perfectly suited to kids and adults of all age groups. The kangaroo feeding is definitely a highlight and the kangaroos are all fairly friendly and placid. Food can be purchased at front entrance for $4 a bag There are multiple animal shows starting from midday. The reptile enclosure is also lots of fun, lots to look at and well set up. Overall a really run park with good facilities and healthy animals

One of the best wildlife parks we've been to. Great for kids. The animal enclosures are so well looked after with very passionate zoo keepers. Easy to get around and to see the animals up close was a treat. The presentations were great and the animals were in perfect condition. Excellent place to visit.

Great place for a day outing with your family. Not many animals to see (compared to Melbourne zoo), but their interactive sessions make a great experience. Plenty of picnic spaces and freely roaming kangaroos, alpacas and emus are there. You can also buy some kangaroo food at the entrance - we loved feeding the kangaroos!

Incredible place to visit local animals like koalas, kangaroos, penguins, Tasmanian devils and many reptiles. Worth 2-hour of travel from Melbourne to Ballarat. I have a chance to attend Koala encounter and it was amazing. All of the staffs there were super nice and friendly, specially thanks to Michelle who supported us during Koala encounter session. Kangaroos were walking freely in the park and they were very tame which you can feed foods by your hand. Didn't have a chance to observe Wombat as they're sleeping in the den. I'll recommend everyone to visit this place!

I cannot recommend it more highly 10/10 on everything.. a must visit for the whole family of all ages..

What an amazing experience! Easy access by train from Melbourne Southern Cross station to Wendouree, via Ballarat line and from Ballarat Station by 20 Canadian Bus which drops you (and picks you up) in front of the park. The bus runs hourly so you can easily plan your timing. The whole trip, train+bus, is 5AUD one way. The access fee to the park is 38.50 AUD at the gate or 34AUD if you buy online. Been to similar wildlife parks but at this one the interaction with the animals was the best. Kangaroos roam freely throughout the park and are very friendly. You can buy some kangaroos food at the entrance for 4AUD. You can also interact with emus and even alpacas. At the time of my visit, the park had 27 koalas split in many enclosures but close enough to take some great pictures. Wombats, dingoes, cassowaries, Tasmanian devils, crocodiles and alligators, little penguins, eagle ,meerkats, tigers, giant tortoises and lots of reptiles including Komodo dragons. The park offers animal encounters for a fee and that includes professional pictures. Highly recommended trip while in Melbourne!

Fantastic small wildlife park with koalas, kangaroos, crocs, snakes and even 3 Tasmanian devils! Fascinating talks about the animals as well as the chance to hold and feed them. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

A great place for families to enjoy the day at. There is a great reptile area and some grass where you can feed kangaroos out of your hand. The gift shop isn't ridiculously overpriced either. I would recommend this place.

Great staff. The talks about the animals were really informative and we can feel the love they have for them. I never had such a close experience seeing animals and it was just the bad. It was raining but not even that could have made me unhappy.

Such an amazing wildlife park, the keepers are really passionate and willing to answer any and every question. Real family vibe, the presentations are great and the animals are clearly well cared for. Crunch the crocodile has an amazing story, and you can feed the free roaming roos.

The best wildlife Park I've visited where visitors are able to hand feed and pet the many wallabies throughout the park! A great diversity of animals which all seemed calm and relaxed. There are even a couple of tigers Asa well as alligators, dingoes, meerkat, penguins and many more. Animal experiences happen throughout the day and there's a cafe and gift store onsite.

  • 5/5 Michael T. 1 year ago on Google
Easy place to spend a day, informative presentations by the keepers. Well kept enclosures for all animals, you can see that animal welfare is high in the list here. Kangaroo feeding is a hit with the kids! Cafe has good food choices, reasonably priced and good, friendly service. Overall, the customer service is very good. Well worth the admission price.

The Ballarat Wildlife Park is a great day out for family. You can get up close with a wide variety of native Aussie and exotic animals. There are few friendlier or more personal wildlife attractions in Australia than this facility where you can come face-to-face with a wide assortment of creatures including kangaroos, koalas, wombats, crocodiles and more all located in pleasant, green surroundings. You can hand feed the animals with pellets that can be purchased in the park.

  • 5/5 Luke P. 1 year ago on Google
Quite enjoyable experience, the opportunity to hand feed the Kangaroos is amazing, great variety of native and exotic animals and decent reptile house, we didn't get to the Tiger exhibit as we were worn out by then, but that gives us something to look forward to next time.

Had an amazing experience here. For $45 we were able to have a picture with a koala. It was such a lovely experience. Kangaroos roam the park and are very sweet and friendly. They're not pushy for food and are receptive even if you don't have food.

Amazing experience most especially if you want to experience kangaroo feeding because you do it almost everywhere within the park. Besides that there’s not much to see if you’ll compare it to Melbourne zoo and werribee open range park. Hot tip: just get 1 bag of kangaroo feed($4) it’s more than enough for the whole experience even if you’re in a very big group.

  • 5/5 T A. 8 months ago on Google
Compared with the past 8 wild parks which I visited in Au & NZ, this is really the best one. Why? It is because you can see the wild animals at closer distances than the others, but of course not tiger, crocodiles... It is so funny & happy to see the big birds in self-parade at their own pace, kangaroos lazily lying under the sunlight neglecting your food offering, etc. etc. The show at the interval is well arranged and so we can spend 4 hours happily here. Absolutely highly recommended!!

  • 5/5 Tutorials 8 months ago on Google
Had loads of fun at the wildlife park it's so much fun having the kangaroos and emus just walking around the park. Got to watch the tiger show. My friend paid $50 to feed Kasha! She wasnt having a good day but still was up for a feed, i personally really wanted to meet Kai i have since he got moved here but the day i came he was having a rest day so i guess ill have to come back! :) The crocodile show and tasmanian devil shows were cool. we got to learn a lot and saw Crunch leap out the water, and Nevil absolutely attacked a keepers shoe. All the staff were really nice and answered all the questions, and the kangaroos were so cute also warning they will definitely try and eat your map and the bag your food comes in lol pretty sure that's not in their diet

Clean nice park. Not to big, perfect to visit for an hour or two. You get to feed and pet the kangaroos. The koalas were surprisingly active. Animals seemed happy. One of the nicer animal/zoo places I've been to. Staff was polite and seemed like they genuinely cared for the animals and their job.

My sister in law brought me tickets to take the kids as a Christmas gift. 1hr drive from west Melbourne and one hour back. The kids enjoyed themselves but I don’t feel like it was worth the drive. This place is good to visit if you live near or camping nearby and this is an activity. We enjoyed feeding the kangaroos but the tigers were sleeping in the shade and even though we had fun I wouldn’t go again and probably wouldn’t recommend for others if you live far.

  • 5/5 Liz T. 4 years ago on Google
Always s great day out. Being able to interact with the kangaroos is fantastic. The park is small but has loads to offer and is reasonably priced. We did a wombat experience and koala experience last time. So much fun, highly recommend.

Fantastic little wildlife park. Well kept, animals seemed well attended to. Quite a few different exhibits for a smaller park. Enjoyed it very much. Took our one year old daughter there for her birthday and she loved it. Was great that you could get right up to the Roos and feed and pet them. There's an on site cafe that you can eat at. It was clean and food was good. There's heating in it and a viewing window to watch the birds in the one enclosure right next to it. Prices weren't bad either. Resident dog they had was super cool as well.

Fantastic. Really friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. Very good keeper talks. Good collection of reptiles and predominantly Australian animals. The park isn't huge but it is well laid out. The tigers were a no-show the day we were there but there are lots of docile kangaroos to feed and the most active koalas I have ever seen. All the animals seem really well cared for. All the family enjoyed the experience.

The kids enjoyed feeding the kangaroos and we all loved our koala experience (one of several options) although it was an additional $50 (for up to 4 people). On top of entry (which was more than the 3 major zoos) it was an expensive morning, but as a small wildlife park these costs can be appreciated. The Park has 2 Sumatran Tigers, meerkats, a reptil house and a variety of Australian animals (including a Tassi Devil!). The staff were lovely and very helpful. The kids had seen and done everything they wanted to in about 2.5hours (which was good as the place was getting very busy!), and this allowed us to have lunch in town and check out other things in the area.

Great family fun place. Ample kangaroos to Pat and feed. Strongly recommend to book beforehand and arrive before 11am if you are aiming for special time with Tiger or tree kangaroo. Crocodile feeding time is one must not to miss. Famous pre historic predatory bird crossowarth is another MUST.
