We had our wedding feast at The Empress last weekend and we could not be more delighted with the quality of food, booze and service provided. Michael and his team were excellent from start to finish - assisting with planning, advising on wines, ensuring the Guinness was perfect, decorating the pub beautifully. Thank you so much for everything!

My second time at the empress. I enjoyed it. I ordered hake with njuda and cauliflower, a good combination. The food was cooked really and the portion is a good size. I tasted some of the rump steak, which was also good as were the chips. This is a bright pub, not too noisy with friendly service. Good to know it's close by

What a great find. Staff is so very kind as we were with our dogs and a baby and they helped us out with anything. Burger was delicious, location is really close to Victoria park and it’s a very cosy and simple interior with a wheelchair accessible entry and toilet.

Probably the best roast I’ve had in London. Positives of this place are the great atmosphere, classic interior, amazing beer and cocktails and large and classic roast dinners. The negatives were that the food is a LOT and that it was quite cold, but those are small negatives to a great experience.

Went for a Sunday roast dinner and the beef roast was magnificent. Cooked at perfection and generous as a portion. Highly recommended!

A pricey pub in Victoria park. The pea and ricotta pasta I ordered was quite just, ok. Pretty bland but none offensive. The pasta is homemade in house but that still doesnt quite jusitify the cost of £17 for such a small plate. I saw the food arriving at other tables and it looked so so good so I'll definitely give the poussin or the steak a try. The service was quite good, afterall. Waiters are attentive, friendly and chatty.

Fantastic Sunday roast, the beef was perfect and service was exceptional! We finished our meals off with a cheeky Tokaji

Delicious Sunday Roasts....Pork melt in the mouth and so tasty. Beef a little pink for my partner who wanted well done...they enjoyed it nonetheless. Relaxed, warm atmosphere. Attentive staff. Hum drum of conversation can get loud. We enjoyed ourselves very much and will return. Our cost £36ea with a couple of drinks. Btw, if you like a Yorkshire, it comes with the Beef, sadly not with your Pork, that would be extra... £1. 🤷‍♂️🤷🤦‍♂️

The food was overpriced (one small mince pie costing 8,5 plus service) with inconsistent quality (the mushroom tart was so dry and basically tasteless). The service was average with rude and defensive staff. The place gets so loud it's difficult to hold a conversation. Avoid when possible.

The service was incredible. It was really busy but the friendly waiter was always buzzing around and extremely attentive. We were in the dining area and we kept ordering drinks and took ages to order dinner so he was very patient. I can’t remember his name but he was Scottish. The atmosphere was lovely and I like the low lighting other pubs in the area have bright kitchen type lights!

We popped in for a drink and ended up ordering some desert. Really cosy atmosphere, great food and excellent service. Dogs are allowed. The chocolate tart and fruit sorbet was amazing.

A really great pub! We were huddled outside after the Victoria park 10k waiting for them to open, and one of the staff popped out and asked if we wanted drinks etc. was so kind as they didn't open for another 15 and made our two runners day! We all had the roast beef which was delicious. We all agreed it was one of the best roasts we've had in London (sorry I forgot to take a picture, we dived straight in!!) Would 100% recommend and will definitely come back next time we are near!

Positives: * Buzzy and friendly pub right near Victoria Park. * Sunday Roasts were tasty and had good portions. * The staff were friendly and attentive. Not so positive: * One thing that gave us a bit of an ick was this: we were asked by the wait staff whether we wanted Yorkshire pudding with our mains which, of course, we said a collective “Yes” (‘cause, who wouldn’t?) Perhaps my friend and I didn’t read the fine print on the menu, but to our surprise, (for a main that cost around £19+ (each) the Yorkshire pudding was charged as an extra(!) We found that very odd; either make it clear that it’s going to cost extra or include it as part of the veggies/sides that come sitting with the roasts like most venues.

One of my favourite East London pubs - now a gastropub. Had dinner there last night, was delighted to find partridge on the menu, which was delicious. Also good ale, and good wines by the glass - and great service.

Roast was pretty poor, it came out lukewarm and the potatoes were dry and tasted like they were reheated. The beef was also extremely tough and chewy despite asking for it pink. They also charged extra for a Yorkshire pudding which should be included! Starters were good however as was the service.

We visited on a Sunday afternoon without reservation. After 20min we managed to get a sit. The waiter was super friendly and accommodating! We ordered: - pork belly2x - Beef roast - Bloody Mary - rhubarb crumble - beetroot salad Above expectations! All freshly made and super tasty. A perfect place to experience a traditional Sunday roast!

What a gorgeous little pub. And wonderful staff who really understand that it’s ALL about customer service & friendliness. We’ve enjoyed the delicious vegan Sunday roast, and there’s a terrific £12 meal deal on Monday nights. Cannot recommend this place and its warm cosy ambience highly enough. And a heads up for the Hackney brewed pale ale. 💜💜💜

Fiancé and I both got the Sunday roast beef, a bit pricey but it was soooo delicious! Definitely the best Sunday roast I’ve had so far. The only thing is some pieces of the meat were too chewy, but the parts that were good, were so good. Lovely aesthetic, very traditional pub. It’s been packed both times we went, which is always a good sign.

Me and my partner came on a busy Sunday evening, the manager was very kind, friendly and managed to find us a spot. The roast was 10/10 and we had outstanding service from Michal. Highly recommend this place.

As a party of eight this Saturday, all of us enjoyed the cocktails, starters and mains. Great variety of dishes and nice vibe. Unfortunately found the server quite arrogant; we had guests over from Italy and he ‘joked’ about not having pizza or lasagne which came across as rude and condescending. He was quite abrupt a number of times and walked off on several occasions while in the middle of an interaction. There was also a friendly young server helping him out who he undermined and bossed around in front of us; this felt unprofessional. We had a nice time overall but this let them down a bit. Other staff were very friendly which is why we paid the service charge.

What a gorgeous old fashioned pub right next to Victoria Park. Great range of beers. And the house red wine was lush. They really know what they are doing here. And the Sunday roasts are huge and well worth the 17 quid plus price. Staff are excellent and it's quick service. Definitely book ahead for the weekend as its so good.

The Empress is a ‘tour de force’ of pubs. The drinks are varied and always of a good quality and the decor matches the refined ambience of the pub. Staff are polite, cheerful and knowledgeable. My Father, a pub connoisseur of over fifty years was particularly impressed. A must visit if in the Victoria park area.

Visited with my partner. Staff lovely, love the decor, wine and beer. Slightly disappointed, the poussin was undercooked and the meal bland 😢 but will visit again.

Warning: there is nothing on the menu for vegans in the group. Then when they offered to try to bring a ‘vegan version’ of a dish it turned out not to be vegan, after it was already eaten. The food was mediocre fair but the prices were more than the West End. Our bill for 2 people with 3 non-alcoholic drinks came to £75. Never again!

Amazing cuisine. Great experience overall. Actually my favourite restaurant in the area. Such friendly staff and loving atmosphere. Totally recommended. Tables outside when hot out really hit the spot. 10/10

Cosy atmosphere and a good selection of food and drink but our waiter lacked friendliness and made us feel rushed when taking our order.

Fantastic pub with amazing staff and great food. Really enjoyed the place. Great location as well, just by the park.

The Pub's location is great, just few meters from Victoria park. Staff was nice and welcoming. Service was disappointing, the pub was really, really busy and we didn't have a booking but they made us wait almost 1.5 hrs for a meal. To be honest we were about to ask for the bill when the food luckily arrived. Once the food arrived, again no complaints, it was tasty and well presented. The long, long, wait ruined, what it would have been a good experience.

What a great friendly welcome you get as you walk through the door. Great selection of beers, wines, spirits and cocktails. Exciting selection of bar snacks, starters, main And desserts with a good choice for vegetarians. Child and dog friendly, both indoor and covered outdoor seating. Whether your going out for lunch, dinner or popping in for a pint you won't be disappointed.

Great location and atmosphere with good food and drink selections. Great place to warm up after a walk in Victoria Park, and in a lovely little part of town worth visiting. I've got to dock a star for having hidden fees, but otherwise it's great.
