This is a review of the hospital - the specialties and doctors are AMAZING. Nothing else to say except this is a 3rd world hospital based on staff, basic patient care, facilities, administration and cleanliness. The cost of having world class doctors (my experience is hand care and orthopedics) is having to deal with this mess of a hospital. I have no regrets - the doctors and their immediate staff are second to none but I wish the hospital would show them respect. If you are admitted you need a round the clock advocate - do not stay here unless you have someone that can advocate for you 24x7. The way they treat elderly patients is a disgrace - I am not one but this is what I have observed.

This is not a hospital to bring your child to, my child was sitting in the waiting room crying. When asked questions it was one lie after another one. I had to take my child to a whole different hospital. Union Memorial made my child feel like they didn't care about her health..

If you can avoid it, don't have surgery at this hospital. So glad my surgeon was fantastic, because the other doctors on the surgical team were terrible. I had problems breathing after surgery. They treated me as if I did something wrong. They never even told my husband, who was waiting in the waiting room, that I was in distress. He sat there waiting until everyone was gone before someone finally told him he could come see me to find out what had happened.

Dr Huffman is the most professional caring knowledgeable understanding doctor I have ever met . blessed to have him as my doctor and surgeon

They were great. Efficient, gave me the care I needed w/o extras. Lovely bedside manners. Everyone was wonderful! They took care to manage my pain level and frequently asked if it was OK, or if I needed more meds to manage it. I highly recommend them!

I have never been treated worse. No firm beds. Hygiene to make you gag. Hope my doctor leaves before next operation. I felt like I was in a North Korea! Absolutely the worse three days of my life.

Was so incredibly happy with my overall experience here. Incredible customer service! Receptionists, doctors and assistants were all very friendly and very helpful. Also shout out to the floor one security guards as they were also very friendly and helpful! 10 out of 10 would recommend taking your orthopedic needs here!

I went in today to get my ankle looked at from surgery back in May. As usual, everyone up front was very polite and got me checked in quickly. I got some x-rays and was seen quickly. I think Dr Walter Hembree is a wonderful doctor, he cares about how his patients are doing and takes time to answer any questions you might have. I know that I can always call and leave a message with his secretary, who is also great, and somebody will get back to me soon. I'm so lucky because all of my doctors at Union Memorial are wonderful.

Dr.Henry Boucher and his team at Medstar Union Memorial Orthopaedic Hospital in Baltimore, MD, are to be commended on their expertise and patient care. On September 29, 2020; Dr. Boucher and his team performed a double knee replacement for me. A bit nervous, they prepared me for the surgery. After I had surgery, I spent a couple of days in the hospital had physical therapy. On October 2, I was home and attending Medstar Orthopaedic physical therapy in Waugh Chapel (Gambrills, MD). Before the surgery I experienced a lot of pain with my knees, now I have no pain. When I first met Dr. Boucher, I told him I was a tennis player and wondered if I could play tennis after my knees were replaced. He said yes. My surgery was at the end of September and in early March, I was playing tennis again. The other day I was babysitting my grandchild, the dogs got out and I RAN after them. It is truly a miracle what Dr. Boucher and his team did for me. My quality of life is completely better! My sincere gratitude to Dr. Boucher and his team (especially Monique)! This team is the best, if you need knee replacement, go to Dr. Boucher and his team, get on their schedule today. You will not regret it. Thank you Dr. Boucher!

MedStar Orthopedic Practice at Baltimore MedStar Union Memorial Hospital is one of the best places to go if you are having problems with foot and ankle ailments. I saw Dr. Stuart Miller for an ongoing condition of extreme heel pain. He quickly diagnosis the problem, recommended a treatment plan and administered a cocktail of medicine by injection into the area of discomfort. This has greatly improved since the injection and along with my exercise plan I should be on the road to a quick recovery. His patience listening to my foot problems with his detail plan of action on how he would treat me, along with a follow up after the injection put my anxiety at ease. His Staff was extremely cordial and created a pleasant doctor's office visit. I highly recommend this practice. I have also used this same MedStar Orthopedic Practice for a total Knee Revision Surgery perform by Dr McKinstry. I can't say enough about the professionalism of this Orthopedic Practice.

A very good appointment. Dr. Kindschi is a great communicator and made me feel there wasn't anything she wouldn't do for me. She had me take standing X-rays which showed my knee problem better than the ones of me lying down. That led to her setting up a plan starting with physical therapy.

They had me waiting in the waiting room for an more than an hour in the middle of sickle cell pain crisis until I had an anxiety attack there allot better in the ICU though still slow and casual for and rude

A family member had a heart procedure done today everyone was so nice helpful and very informative. And my family member was given excellent care.

What a great visit with Dr Stuart Miller and his fellow Dr. Ruiz. Very pleased and extremely impressed. Dr Miller has a wonderful personality and manner about him and really takes a comprehensive approach. He has an impressive depth and breadth of knowledge , age appropriate advice and common sense conservative approach to getting back to my previously very active self. He really took time to explain and answer all of my questions. I am so glad and very reassured that Dr. MILLER plays such a vital role in educating and preparing the next generation of doctors because he’s awesome! Dr. Ruiz was fantastic too! She has obviously soaked up a lot from Dr. MILLER and they seemed to work very well together. What a blessing to have seen them both! Very grateful!

They are so caring and take the time to listen to you. Their only concern is making you feel and get better. Dr. Fillar, her Assistant and the entire medical staff are the best!

I have absolutely no complaints about my care team. Cardiologist, PCP, orthopedics, and pulmonology ( Good Samaritan). I don't particularly care for the staff on the ninth floor ( observation ) yet I wouldn't trust any other doctors with my care. I left and went to the University of Maryland, but I came running back to Union Memorial

In the past year, I've had two knee replacement surgeries and a third surgery to repair a knee hurt in a fall. The Med Star Union Memorial surgeon and entire staff with whom I had contact have all been caring and attentive. The communications at Med Star are frequent and clear. Responses to questions are timely. If you need hospital services, I'd recommend this hospital.

Dr. Hoffman gave me a shot in my shoulder. I feel like a brand new person the pain is gone. I have a follow-up with in eight weeks with him.

From the day that I fractured my ankle on 2/3/24, the Medstar family has been very professional, kind and friendly! I have had the best medical experience ever!!

The customer service is top notch and the medical care I receive is amazing. My only complaint is I wish the surgeon would have taken time to speak with me at my post surgery appointments and also to walk me through what my operation was like along with pictures. I believe patients should be completely informed and walked through their health care procedures. I have only seen the assistant working with my surgeon since my surgery and although she is amazing and very capable it would just be nice to hear from the person who actually performed the surgery at least once. Even with all said I would highly recommend my surgeon and medstars orthopedic team. Their doctors are some of the best in this state.

The office staff handled things in an orderly and timely manner. I loved Dr. Fellar and Miss Amanda. They took the time to talk to me in detail about my health. Both were friendly and personable.

Dr. Prao and the entire team were awesome. My mom was in so much pain. One location refused helping her out despite sering her on a wheelchair but, Dr. Prao was so passionate and lovely. She fit in my mom into her tight schedule. This is what healthcare is all about. She made my mom smile again. Thank you so much. May God bless you.

I really had a wonderful experience with my visit at Dr.Filler’s office at Union Memorial. The staff is so supportive and friendly. Dr. Filler listened to my concerns and asked me what I wanted to do. I would recommend anyone that have knee problems to go to see her. I received the cortisone shot because that was my option. If it comes to it later on I will trust her with a knee replacement.

Dr. Jason Stein and his physician assistant Steven C. Doll are just outstanding. Along with his staff and the wonderful team at Union Memorial Hospital. .You can go into surgery knowing that you will receive the best care. . Received follow-up calls after my surgery just to see how I was doing.... If You Need A Shoulder Replacement. I Highly recommend Dr Jason Stein. . .He has performed surgery on both my shoulders. ....

I got an appointment quickly. Staff at all levels were professional and friendly. I had Xrays and saw the Orthopedic doctor all within an hour. Fantastic!

The only reason I’m even giving 2 stars at all is for the woman who helped schedule the appt and the X-ray tech who were both caring and kind. Long story short, my appt with Dr. Murthi started out fine, but then he was very dismissive of my pain and any concerns I had. He said my rotator cuff seem strong and there was nothing on my X-ray. So the fact I was in pain didn’t mean anything. He also left the room not saying we were done or if someone else was coming so after a few mins I got dressed and left. Here I am a week later getting slightly better but still in some pain. I wouldn’t recommend this place if you are looking for good care or answers to what might be wrong.

My experience was excellent.

First meeting I’ve ever had with Dr. Stein we talked about anything I wanted to in reference to my shoulder he made me feel extremely comfortable and he also made me laugh a second visit with the doctor. What is the actual Cortizone shot? I was terrified to the stars then he started ,proceeded And I was waiting to feel the discomfort that I had made in my mind that it was going to be so I’m stiff as a board try not to move and then the doctor said all done. I was totally surprised and relieved at the same time, I could’ve had hugged , the doctor but I didn’t. I just praised his name. Yes I would recommend his services. Dr. Fillar, NP Amanda, and staff was very friendly and professional; they listened to my history and current concerns! Plus the cortisone shot was administered with "no pain"! Im glad to have them as part of my Healthcare Team!

Dr. Allison Fillar made me feel comfortable going into the first surgery of life by providing me with thorough information during and after my surgery. My nurse, Jenny, and the other professionals were excellent with the care that they gave me before and after the surgery as well.

Dr Fillar squeezed me into her schedule to verify a bone break and treatment. She is very thorough and makes sure all info is understood.

The doctor was great. I just didn't like having to stay in the examination room for over a half hour waiting for tha doctor

Amazing Doctor of mine for 20 years now! Always makes me laugh every visit no matter how much pain I am in. There is no other surgeon I want leading my ortho care. He totally gets it and respects my wishes every time. The security guards were awesome loved seeing them on every level! Wish I could take the entire team to dinner for a 20yr celebration of outstanding care and customer service. From the security guards, to the parking staff, the nurses, anesthesiologists, to lab technicians! THANK YOU! LETS DO IT AGAIN!
