A National Trust property. An absolute gem of a place. Beautiful interiors and fabulous walk up to the obelisk, where excellent views can be enjoyed. No cafe, but can highly recommend tea in Farnborough Village afterwards.

We have been going here for several years. The lake and the walks around it are ideal for walking your dog at any time of year....and in the Summer months we have often taken a picnic. The village itself is very interesting with wonderful buildings...and a beautiful church. We love all the changes that have been made to make the area more accessible. We just love that it's so quiet and peaceful. A perfect place to get away from it all.

I can’t say enough positive things about this house. The location and setting are stunning, and the house is an absolute gem in terms of its architecture, history and contents. We’re very fortunate to be able to visit this house as it’s been made accessible to the public by the family who still live there. The staff are knowledgeable and very friendly. Yes, there are far bigger, grander country houses and stately homes in the country, but none are as exquisite and near perfect as this one.

I liked the National Trust themed village signs into Farnborough. They own 550 acres of land here. Good amount of parking. Knowledge and friendly guides. I liked the paintings of Venice. The staircase is quite grand with it's oval skylight dome decorated with plaster fruit and flowers. There are quite a few buildings/monuments in the garden; game larder, obelisk, ionic temple and oval pavilion. There is also a nice rose garden🌹. Would recommend a visit.

Interesting house (not huge) and very pleasant grounds. The walk up to the obelisk gives great views over the grounds and surrounding countryside plus there are several benches en route to rest or picnic. The little waterfall, rose garden and well-preserved ice house are also worth a look. There are toilets here but no café. However, you aren't likely to spend a whole day here so you could bring a snack if you tend to get peckish.

Lovely walk up to the monument. There seems spectacular views across the surrounding countryside. It's generally nice and quiet and plenty of space. Carpark is large and lots of space. There isn't a cafe so worth bringing your own snacks.

House wise not as good as other places we have seen, not allowed to take pictures inside and only four rooms available to see. The grounds were scenic, there is a five mile walk available for the more energetic I believe, we took the woodland walk which was fairly steep up to a pillared stonework which had an amazing view, very good dog walking area.

Lovely house nice to be able to see a NT property that does not have window shades!! The moulded plaster work is stunning. Make sure you take the Terrace walk gorgeous the views

You are made to feel wonderfully welcome at this house. The grounds have glorious views. Knowledgeable guides are all around. Only about 2 hours to get around everything. Small grass car park may get full quickly peak season.

Beautiful. The perfect sized country estate for a Sunday afternoon stroll. Gorgeous gardens. The house is set out wonderfully. The volunteers, as always with the National Trust, know their stuff. The plasterworks in the rooms of the house are mind blowing, and will just never happen again in this day and age. The rooms are sumptuous but you can imagine yourself living there. I felt it had a happy, homely feel. The only trouble with Farnborough House is the lack of a tea room.

Set in some wonderful well maintained parkland, the house is still lived in by the owners, which explains the limited opening days and parts of the House understandably closed off to visitors. Looks and smells lived in! Much to see in rooms open to the public, and well worth a visit!

A lovely peaceful home. Well worth a visit.

Only 4 rooms in the house open as it is still lived in, nice walks around the grounds, however they could do with a tidy. I don't think I would pay to go, but as we are national trust members it was free

Fantastic, great to see it lived in. Garden walk was worth it as well

Small but lovely country house in well manicured grounds and some shady parking. Family still live in the property but open through national trust on Saturday and Wednesday afternoons in the summer and worth a visit to view the open rooms and walk round the grounds

Beautiful grounds and amazing long terrace with valley views

A rather simple National Trust with a tight schedule, worth the visit if you plan it correctly with a beautiful village nearby. The house itself despite being a short tour is furnished well enough to seem genuine without being over the top due to the owners living within the property. The exterior of the property is a lovely shade of "pale yellow" with a nice facade. The Garden is rather simple and retains to the countryside's natural beauty. Going up you go past three "greek" structures. Towards the bottom is a nice Rose Garden which could almost fit in your back garden with plenty of seating space. Interesting overall 7/10

Very nice historic house with amazing views from the rear garden/ terrace. A picturesque flower garden, alcove seat and magnolia tree. Then there is a walk along a wide grassed path to the top of the hill where the monument is. The bottom part is the steepest, the path flattens out as you go up. Generally quite flat. Could be a bit slippy on grass when wet.

A great national trust. This one has a lovely curated path up to a viewpoint. It is a long curving wide grass path, that goes up past a few monuments to an obelisk at the top. Couldn't see any cafe/food offering (but we might have missed it), but house, gardens and staff were very nice.

Delightful leg-stretch up the long, wide grassy ridge up to the obelisk and walk back down along the woodland path. Splendid views across the valley to Edge Hill and the far distant horizon!
