A really quaint little village where Shakespeare was born. The house he grew up in has been renovated and is now a museum of sorts. Obviously the whole village has drawn tons of exposure due to Shakespeare. But the city has kept it relatively small and very clean from all the tourists. Overall, a great place to visit when in the area

Just to be there is amazing, but be prepared to wait. I purchased a timed ticket online ahead of time (which I recommend). There is a separate entry line for online ticket purchases which let me skip a few people in line to buy tickets. I visited on a Saturday morning at the end of September. It was very crowded. First thing you walk through is semi related memorabilia. I skipped most of it. Then you exit the building to an outdoor courtyard where you stand in line to get into the actual house. We stood in line for about 45 min. Inside the house there are signs and and qr code with an audio tour (so bring earbuds) BUT I felt rushed and crowded like a sardine in a can and didn't have the experience I would have liked. A few of the guides will tell you info about the rooms if you ask. Very cool, but too many people.

A must visit place for anyone who loves history & literature. Tickets are £25 which allows multiple entries throughout the year. The guides are really helpful in explaining. We would really experience the way Shakespeare lives in that period. Truly a good experience

A must visit place if you live in West Midlands. Parking may be an issue. I used the nearby Lidl shopping Centre parking (3 hours max parking is adequate to see around the places).

Stratford upon Avon a lovely place to visit, nice town, restaurants and plenty of places of interest. Shakespeare's Birthplace worth a visit especially if enjoy history and English literature. Spent about 45 minutes here a little over priced but helps with the upkeep.

This historical site is located in the outskirts of Birmingham it took us 1.5 hours to reach this place and it was 6pm in the evening so all retail shops were closed and few tourists were around. We spend good time while sitting and getting peaceful view of the place.

It’s a very nice place to visit. Tour guides are placed nicely and each of them is very kind and patiently. Ask them questions about the building and the history, you will be very satisfied with their answers.

It's a bit pricey the tickets in some way. But worth it i quess... since it's a one of the worlds most famous/greatest poets, actors, playwrights birthplace and his home place. I think for everyone it should be interesting, and curious about this personality and his home place.

The staff absolutely make this place, as if it needed any improving. They all seemed so passionate and approachable. I was only supposed to spend a morning in Stratford upon Avon but I spent 2 and a half hours in this place alone. The gardens are beautifully well kept and the museum before the house is so well curated and emotive. The flow is very well managed and the interpretation boards are just the right level of depth and discussion. I'll definitely be recommending this spot to my friends and family.

Beautiful house full of history & information. The staff were very friendly & knowledgeable. The house & gardens are kept to a very good standard. There is wheelchair access to the visitors centre & gardens but because of the stairs a wheelchair user would not be able to get up them. Just wish we could have done the 3 houses rather than just the one.

I had a really good time and felt like I taken I step back in history. This is really good value for money and the house itself is beautiful. I enjoyed seeing the different versions of Shakespeare’s through the artwork that was done. I found the whole experience really interesting and would go back again any time. The staff and the actors are on hand to make sure that your experience of the day is memorable. If I could give this place 10 stars I would. Thank you so much for a lovely experience and can’t wait to come back.

We visited as my daughter loves Shakespeare. The first part is a display of items about Shakespeare and the time he was born. The gardens are beautiful. The house is very small, we got round everything in under 40 mins. If you are a true fan it's worth a visit. I do feel however that the ticket price is very expensive for what it is. To visit just the birthplace it would have been nearly £50 for a family of 4. We did get the tickets that allowed us to return and go to another two Shakespeare attractions however when we visited we didn't have the time to go to the others and as it was a 4 hour round trip so I doubt we will use the return tickets.

Very beautiful town. Felt peaceful even though it was busy. Well worth a visit but take a picnic as the prices are a bit steep.

We had a very lovely day out visiting Stratford-upon-Avon😊 Shakespeare's Birthplace was at the top of our priority list, and we were not disappointed because there was so much history! It was a highly interesting experience. The staff inside the house were also really dedicated and it was obvious they were educated about the place🙂 Thank you for the enjoyable time❤️ PS: One of my photos shows Shakespeare's grave, which is only around 10-15 minutes walking distance from his birthplace if you would like to visit that too!!

A great place to visit. They have a lot of information about Shakeapeare and his family. Interesting to see how people used to live and how houses looked in the past. You can try real leather cloves and some other costumes. The ticket was about £20pp but it includes a visit to other 2 sites connected to Shakeapeare, and it's valid for a whole year, so you can come back anytime within a year of purchasing the ticket.

It's so great that they have done this place up as a museum now. Some of the furniture is actually over 500 years old which is really impressive. Tickets: We had pre booked tickets but mid September didn't feel like a super busy time so even without tickets we would've been okay.

Spent A day going round this historic town. It was lovely to see how well the historic buildings were being looked after. There is a wide range of places to eat, anything from pubs to bistros . There were a few places that will not open until the spring. It was a great day.

Awesome place to hang out during the week end understanding the historical significance and the life of Shakespeare. Enjoyed the whole day. You have pubs, restaurants, boating and lots and lots of sightseeing places. Defiantly a must visit place if you are coming down for a holiday to UK.

We had a lovely afternoon visiting this place. We booked in advance just to avoid the queue but it wasn't very busy, although we did visit on a Thursday. There was a guide in every room that gave details about where we were and was happy to answer any questions. The gift shop is amazing, it's impossible to leave without buying something. There's a lovely garden with benches and toilets. We parked at Bridgeway Multi Storey car park which is approx 8 min walk from the place. The surrounding areas are also lovely.

I didn't go inside as it was closed for renovations but the building looks fantastic and very well maintained. The whole town is very scenic with lots of history and everyone seems very friendly. Sorry for the rubbish pictures, I didn't take one of the actual birthplace.

Good for the tourists, but was he really born here... probably not... considering that his name is even incorrect and he was most likely stoned when he wrote his best works, can you really take any of this seriously...?! Nice enough building and "experience ", but very expensive imo... Also, the 80's centre built around the cottage is obscene, hopefully the architect never got another job after designing that monstrosity...

Shakespeare and English literature goes hand in hand. This is a must visit site if visiting England 2hr stopover is enough to visit Shakespeare home and see around town. It is remarkable how Shakespeare House is still maintained to the highest standard even after 500 years whilst many new build looks like they will not last 20 years. Victorian houses speaks quality. There is a nice shop to buy Shakespeare related good.

It was a rainy day when we travelled from Coventry to Stradford on Avon to visit the greatest birthplace. This was a large lane filled with jostling shops of chocolates, textiles, Christmas items, tea shops, cigar enthusiasts to name a few. The actual lane that leads to Shakespeare's statue is devoid of motor vehicles. It's only meant for people to stroll worry free. You can glance at pretty cottage type cafes, shopping stores. There is a massive soft toy and Teddy bear store near Shakespeare 's statue (it's inside a lane hidden) There is the Anne Hathaway's cottage opposite. Everything is simply charming. You can take your time to stroll around and take ample photos for memories. I rated this one star less because of the cold.

25 Pounds for the combined Birthplace and school/guildhall rooms ticket and it is very expensive. The first one was pretty disappointing, no real Shakespeare's objects, only contemporary furniture. The second one was better, nice and educative.

I was dreaming to visit this place for ages, since I learned English at school in Ukraine 20 years ago. It's definitely a "must" place. There is a small museum before you enter the house itself. It's a very atmosphere place, staff is very friendly and gives a lot of information. Also there was a small Romeo and Juliette show. The bookstore is also nice.

If the historical records are correct, this place is where WS was born. The exhibition centre at the ticket office is a bit moderate, but the house itself has some characteristics. The staff gave us a good talk about the history of the house and WS's family.

Interesting preamble in new entrance building, beautiful garden, house very atmospheric, wall coverings were pretty. Staff incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, best room guides I have ever come across, just fantastic.

Fascinating historical landmark. I couldn't believe I was inside William Shakespeare's house. It was very grand I think for it's time. Showing they were a wealthy family thanks to his father. Learnt so much about the family. And the herb garden was beautiful.

Nice little tour thru the Bard's home. For 30 years I taught about him and now I got to see the place where it all began. Quaint town as well

Nice place to visit and a significant piece of history that is well worth your time if you're visiting Stratford-upon-Avon. The house itself is not very big and just has a few rooms to see but it's filled with lots of history. Just to be able to walk in the footsteps of the great William Shakespeare was a treat. Considering the high price of the ticket for the visit of this house only, I would recommend getting the Shakespeare's Story ticket that will give you access to three of Shakespeare's family homes.

Great to see the history of Shakespeare and where he was born / grew up. Staff very knowledgeable and friendly - they are in the rooms and give interesting information. Quite pricey for entry in comparison to other attractions in the area. We took our time and was finished in around 40 minutes. Tickets need to be prebooked for this attraction and a timeslot selected but you can purchase on the day if there is availability. We visited on a weekday, not overly busy but still a fair few people there. Self guided tour. Some toilets at the entrance and within the garden.

Beautiful place to visit, lots to see. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, would definitely recommend a visit. We reccomend to buy the tickets for all 3 sites as it works out cheaper and valid for a year, this includes Shakespeare birthplace, Shakespeare New House and Anne Hathaway cottage

Great way to spend a couple of hours. We got the tickets that last for a year and can get into multiple locations. Really interesting both history, architecture and the stories that the guides told.

Unfortunately it was late in the day and it was due to close, so only visited the shop. But it looks to be a lot to see, and at reasonable entrance prices, we will be making a return visit. Bizarre to see such an iconic building isolated in the midst of a modern town, but somehow, it just worked.

Shakespeare's house was quite large. The city of Stratford upon Avon is a beautiful town with lots of well kept old houses with original wood and plaster. The wood beams have been kept well stained or painted and the plaster painted white. I really liked this town. I could easily go back here for a more extended stay.

The staff are really great people and inform you of the building's history in a fantastic way! I completely recommend visiting if you're touring Stratford-upon-Avon or want to know more about William Shakespeare's life and his family. It's a really great place to visit with great people and a great history! Honestly worth every penny to go and visit!

Stratford upon Avon is a wonderful town. So much to see and do. We walked from our guest house into town (not far). So many shops, many independent stores and cafe/restaurants. Churches, Museums, thoroughly enjoyed The Mad Museum. Riverside Walks. We didn't visit the Theatre or Shakespeare's birthplace etc as we'd done that a number of years ago. Highly recommend a week or more in this lovely friendly place.

Well maintain well restore place.Great sense of feeling gets when visit the place. There are volunteers everywhere to guide the vistors, nice garden accompanied the house.the streets are cobbled & rows of shops are there. From bus parking lot it's hardly a walk of few minutes.

Very interesting to visit the place where Shakespeare was born and lived. Although restoration has been done it has been made to feel like it is as it was. Lots of history and interesting facts. The gardens are beautiful as well.

Shakespeare's Birthplace was a cool tourist spot to visit! Since I'm studying Shakespeare, it was really nice to walk through his birthplace. The gardens outside were gorgeous. The gift shop was also fantastic (One thing about me, I love a good gift shop).

Lovely town with lots of fine ancient buildings. Many, many tourists perambulating in groups with guides, if you want a quieter experience probably best to go off season. The RSC park is delightful with drama students putting in lots of outdoor plays. The riverside space is beautiful.
