Let me start by saying I'd give this place 6 stars if I could. They entirely set a new baseline for customer service for us last night. My partner has. Some dietary restrictions so I had called weeks in advance. They followed up the call three days before the night of dining. And when we arrived, the host and the server were both made aware of the restrictions. They went way out of their way to make her night extremely special. They server was extremely attentive and humerous without being overbearing. The food... Well, we've been here before and I'd dare say this may be the best steak experience I've had this year. Incredible flavor, great temperature of food upon delivery and fabulous presentation. The ambience of the place is extremely lively. All around, top marks across the board. Don't miss an opportunity to visit The Bison.

For those who want to try the actual BISON meat, this is the best place to dine and savour it! Non red meat lovers, don’t forget to order their perfectly crisp slice of bread to enjoy with the sauce their other dishes may come with! Not forget their level 2 restaurant comes with outdoor dining to enjoy during spring and view of the stunning surrounding mountains in Banff!

It was one of the best restaurants in Banff, almost full when we arrived. When they knew we were only here for one night, got us a seat at the bar. The handsome guy at the bar patiently introduces us the most popular appetizers and special set: char-grilled bison. The bison cooked in a very special way before roasted, which gives the crispy outside and juicy, tender inside, tasty!

Delicious food and large portions. Even the appetizers or starters were quite large. Everything was fresh and tasty. We sat on the rooftop patio which is partially covered. The views were incredible!

Atmosphere: Chic modern with open concept kitchen. Food: 5/5 - The beet salad, bison short ribs and chocolate cake are a must! Solid drinks as well. Ordered the apple sour and Caesar. Service: 5/5 - Attentive staff and quick service. Highly recommend if you're visiting Banff. Prices are high but totally worth it.

So good! Glad we managed to snag an online reservation at 5:45pm on a Thursday a few days beforehand. Nick helped us and gave us great recs. We were 2 ppl, we got the black cod (light and refreshing), the bison rib-eye medium rare (not as heavy as beef), the eggplant couscous (so good!), and the toffee dessert (highly recommend). Great date night :)

Great service. Nice atmosphere. Fantastic Smoked Old Fashioned. Unfortunately I can only give 3 stars as the food we tried was OK but not great for the price. We tried the Burrata, Scallop, Bison Ragu + Gnocchi, Rack of Lamb. The Bison Ragu + Gnocchi were the best of the dishes we ordered but felt overly salted. The grilled vegetables on the lamb were particularly good.

We loved the food, drinks, and service so much we came back the next day for dinner. We ordered the fried chicken, the bison short rib, apple pie, and all their drinks were honestly great. The one pictured is their seasonal drink “chocolate kiss.” PLEASE get the fried chicken, it blew our minds. The meat is juicy, and even though it’s fried, it wasn’t greasy at all. It comes with a cilantro sauce which pairs nicely with the chicken. The bison short rib just melts in your mouth. I don’t even like apples but I LOVE their apple pie. Next time I’m visiting Banff, I will definitely make my way back to The Bison.

Pros: • Pleasant ambiance with a lovely decor. • Food and drinks are commendable. Cons: • The staff seem overly focused on maximizing profits. • Felt rushed and pressured to order more than we wanted. • Despite having ample time left, there was a constant nudge to vacate our table. • Hostess was particularly insistent on faster orders. Overall, while the food and ambiance might draw me back, the staff’s approach was a letdown. Hope they can balance customer experience with their business objectives better in the future.

An absolutely amazing experience! Our waiters, Kyle & Chris took excellent care of us! The cocktails were spot on, and the food...don't get me started! Our steak tartar app was the best we've ever eaten! For the main event, we ordered the Bison platter....magnificent! One of our best restaurant experiences in all of our travels!

The level of service we experienced was truly exceptional, and the interior design boasted a sleek and modern aesthetic. Our visit in November coincided with Banff's 'Taste for Adventure' event, offering a set menu priced at $65. While the food was generally satisfactory, there is certainly potential for enhancement to elevate the dining experience even further.

This is our favorite restaurant in Banff! I had the bison bolognese and my husband had the bison shortrib, both were absolutely delicious. Next time, we want to book a table on the roof top terrace. The restaurant is in a great location and there's lots of parking close by. Will come back again 🤗

We visited The Bison as part of our 17th anniversary trip to the Bow Valley, and I am SO glad we went here! I only made a reservation during the week prior to our arrival, and while I was not surprised (based on other reviews) to find that there was only bar seating left, I was surprised by what an awesome experience it was sitting there! The two bartenders taking care of us were personable and showed a great deal of expertise in the menu, and we experienced a nice balance between personal attention and the kind of alone time two people would like on an anniversary date. The only negative I can find about the place is that the bathrooms feel a little bit sketchy, but from the looks of it they're shared with other businesses in the building. As such, I can't personally fault this one business for that, and give it 5 stars anyway. (But do work with building management on that, please. 😅) P.S. there are not a lot of places I like for both date nights and family nights, but this place handily does both without fail!

First time in Banff, and it was a special occasion to celebrate my partner's birthday as well as on a vacation. I was aware this restaurant is not cheap to dine in, and my expectation was high after reading so many travel blogs that mentioning this place and the reviews. Well, the experience here just exceeded the hype we had coming in! The feature meal with Bison steak was perfectly seasoned and cooked, and the source it came with was delicious by itselves. I had a red wine from Black Sage Vinery to go with the meal. I loved how they mention the suppliers of their food ingredients and wine on map on their menu. The meal definitely worth the price. My partner was over the moon after the meal, and it was just amazing night we had here.

Another great restaurant in Banff. The food was very good, service was a little slow but overall fine. The octopus was soft and not chewy. The dessert was perfect to finish the day.

THE BUTTER RICE. I could end my review here and that’s enough to get you to get a reservation at The Bison. The menu is so unique, you will not find most of the items anywhere else nearby. Most of the food is locally sourced, they even show you a map of their partners on the menu. The Aloha Chicken was by far worth it. Just imagine a Canadian exchange student getting invited to a college frat luau in Hawaii, except everyone is fancy. That is your experience. The atmosphere and service was AWESOME. Our server was super authentic and did not act like she hated her life. (I know, the bar is high). She was very personable and knowledgeable about the menu! They even offer blankets on the patio if it’s chilly! It’s like eating at your wealthy stepmother’s summer home.

My fiance and I came here after we got engaged and it was amazing! The staff was so wonderful in congratulating us and making the evening special. We sampled the taste for adventure menu which features some of their regular menu items. These were so delicious! Cocktails had lots of variety to choose from and each one we tried was phenomenal! Definitely a must see/try if you are looking for a great spot in Banff!

You know the thing about once of a life time. Yes. Eat bison meat just like that. We order the 30 some oz package. Cannot finish it. Just too much. Well, we tried. And is good. BTW, I want to say their service is excellent. The young lady was a such nice lady.

Delicious anniversary meal! My husband got the bison ribeye (cooked perfectly!), I got the bison burger with warm potato salad (so juicy and tender, and the potato salad was AMAZING!), and we shared the seared scallop appetizer (we thought the portion was a little small, but probably because we could have eaten about 5 more, it was that good!). The staff was friendly and checked on us multiple times during our meal. They also were able to seat us sooner than our original reservation time, which was nice since we were flying out early the next morning! Awesome meal and exceptional service!

Had an incredible dining experience here. Our waitress Liz was amazing. She made us feel right at home the minute we sat down. We had both specials that they had to offer for the evening and we were completely floored by how delicious the food was. You can taste the time and thought and patience that went into each part of the dishes. I could not have been more pleased with the choice of eating here. I will certainly be back and everyone who goes to Banff needs to eat at the Bison, because you’re surely missing out if you don’t!

Elk Tartare, Scallop Crudo, wood fired brome duck, smoked trout… but the **main event** had to be the Bison platter!! It had the bison ribeye, short rib and sausages! It was incredible!! Ps. The Caesar was soooo good!!

Came here for our anniversary dinner. There was a bit of a wait when we arrived despite reservations. The patio was warm with the heat lamps. Great ambiance and view. The service was great as well, very friendly server. Whether you are a meat eater or vegetarian, the food was delicious. We had the beet salad and wood fried zucchini to start, the rigatoni and bison ribeye as mains, and shared the chocolate cake (if you love chocolate, highly recommend, so good). The cocktails, although a bit pricey, were pretty good too.

It almost reminds me of a tavern or a pub the aesthetic inside - in a very tasteful and cute way. The food was amazing, from the appetizers to the main dishes, if they have the super large dish for the table to share with all the different meats I highly recommend it, we really enjoyed it!
