This is a five star bed and breakfast in every respect . . . almost. The property is absolutely gorgeous! Just two or three minutes walk from the cottage, and you're on the water! The sea breeze and scent of the water is palpable. And the spring flowers are also stunning. We were in the "geranium room" with the word "Jack" on the door. In this quaint suite the bedroom was huge and there was also a small adjoining sitting room with a TV and a gas fireplace. The bathroom was directly off the sitting room and was large and spacious. The entire suite was absolutely spotless and meticulously decorated. There were fine linens, sufficient pillows, and plenty of high quality towels and toiletries. While we would have preferred an in room tea kettle, there were beverages and snacks in the main house next door. So then why does this luxurious location only get four stars? Unfortunately, when selecting our room we were not aware of its undesirable location at the corner of the building, first floor. There is a huge bay window that runs a good portion of the exterior wall leaving us no choice but to close the blinds lest we remain on display for every guest to walk by and inadvertently spoil our privacy. The sitting room's windows suffer the same fate as does the bathroom. There is simply no where to "hide." We were also unable to open the windows and catch the cool sea breeze for the very same reason. And so we felt as though we were trapped in a dark dungeon. The property is highly recommended with the caveat that anything less than a second floor room will lack the privacy that should accompany luxury.

We looked at many places before deciding to stay at Bass Cottage Inn, and were really happy we did. For our 4 day visit to Acadia, the accommodations, staff, and location were excellent. Eddie and everyone made our experience so welcoming. The attention to detail of staying here is truly noticeable. A few notables to call out: -Breakfast was always something to look forward to: they made it special from the food, ambience, and service. For those starting multiple days like we did, everyday is different yet delicious! Many compliments to the chef! -The room was very charming and comfortable to settle in. Very fine bed and sheets, great toiletries, and clean. Each day, returning felt like coming home. -We enjoyed the complimentary 5 o clock wine & social. -location has to be mentioned. Tucked away from the bustle yet close enough to walk over and not worry about the parking situation. Right in front of the ocean and shore walk. This was easily the most remarkable stay we’ve had during a vacation. We’re looking forward to making this a tradition. Thank you for your warm hospitality.

Bass Cottage Inn is a wonderful home away from home while you explore Bar Harbor and Acadia. If you want a good night's sleep, an amazing breakfast and knowledgeable staff that make you feel at home, this is the place for you. I stayed here for 3 nights recently while hiking Acadia and exploring the Maine coast. The location was perfect as you can walk pretty much anywhere in Bar Harbor. Breakfast was delicious every morning, and the inn was such a comfortable place to return to after a long day. The staff, especially Jill and Rya (sp?) had great, off the beaten path, recommendations for me to check out. I can't wait to return in the near future!

Had a wonderful 3 night stay! Can’t beat the location, 10-20 minutes drive from multiple Acadia trailheads, but no car required to get to all the shops and restaurants in town. The staff are super friendly and the breakfast is delicious :)

Wonderful place to stay here in Bar Harbor. Location is excellent. Help is fantastic. Food is very good. The only negative thing I would say is the common rooms are very warm and uncomfortable since there is no air conditioning.

Incredible bed & breakfast! Stayed in the Thyme room and it was extremely clean, cozy, and comfortable. Rebecca and Jill made our “thyme” extra special due to their amazing hospitality. You’ll enjoy the homemade breakfasts every morning and the convenience of being within walking distance to all Bar Harbor shops & restaurants, and within 30 minutes of the hiking trails in Acadia.

The location is perfect. Just a short walk to the beautiful harbor, Agamont Park, restaurants, shopping, and all the best of Bar Harbor. You can see the water from the front of the house. The staff are amazing and kind. The rooms are cozy and clean. The breakfast is amazing. Jill is an especially incredible host with extra insight into the best hikes and restaurants. She’s one of the best reasons to stay here. And Rebecca, Echo, and Will are also very helpful.

Great little spot. Cheaper than most of the blander offerings in the area. We stayed in the paprika room - large and comfortable. Friendly staff and an actual good breakfast with good coffee. Short walk to most of the local restaurants. If they have availability you likely won't be disappointed.

First time to Bar Harbor and driving in I was a little concerned with how “touristy” it was. It is tucked away and you would never know how close everything is. Loved the accommodations and staff. They were so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a delight.

Had a wonderful stay for our 15 year anniversary. The location in Bar Harbor is great. You can walk every where in Bar Harbor and a 2 minute walk to the water. William was a great help with recommendations from activities to places to eat. He is definitely ready to drive the B&B's cars. Jill was also helpful finding a solution to a non-working a/c and fixing the situation. Breakfast was also good and nice to walk downstairs for breakfast every morning.

We recently stayed in the Sesame room at the end of August & really enjoyed our stay. The A/C kept the room cool despite being on the top floor and the high temperatures. The room is spacious with a very comfortable bed and luxurious linens. The towels were some of the softest we have come across on vacation. The breakfast was very good every morning. Conveniently located in downtown Bar Harbor and close to Acadia National Park. Highly recommend.

Great spot and great breakfast. Rooms are cozy and charming. Could use some repairs but won’t deter from your stay.

We loved this little inn tucked away, but surprisingly close, to everything that makes Bar Harbour so special. It was clean, well decorated, comfy, and the staff was delightful. We loved wine and cheese, but the breakfast is perhaps the best reason to go! We stayed 4 days and were never disappointed with the delicious breakfast. One morning, we were even lucky enough to have a guest playing the piano! Such fun! Cookies at night - especially the macadamia ones are a real treat, too. Kudos to the staff and especially the chefs. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this especially quaint part of Bar Harbour.

This quaint B&B was ok, but for $500 a night, way overpriced. Other than our breakfast waitress Maria, we were never greeted by any staff, no beverages provided except for wine at 5-6ish. Our water pitcher never touched. I just feel that for 2 nights and $1100 (approx) the experience should have been better.

Absolutely love those beautiful little inn. Cannot say enough about how wonderful it is. We had an overwhelming feeling of being 'welcomed'. We checked in late but were treated so hospitable. Breakfast was absolutely delicious. Grounds are beautiful. Centrally located to everything we wanted to do. Walked everywhere. Will be coming back. Thank you to everyone 💓💓💓

Such a great place! The breakfast each morning was a hit! My fiancé and I really enjoyed our stay and will be coming back! Very close to downtown but in its own secluded area. Highly recommended.

We loved our stay at Bass Cottage Inn. The location was tucked away, but placed perfectly near the water and shops/restaurants. The mint room was in the corner of the house on the first floor with all the amenities and comfort we needed during our time in Maine. The breakfast and evening social topped it all off. Staffing were so kind and helpful. Will come back to stay again, no doubt.

I cant say enough good things about this bed and breakfast. We stayed in the sesame room which was spacious and private (worth the trek up 3 flights of stairs with our luggage). Breakfast was amazing every morning. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. We would definitely stay here again.

We just returned from our second stay here..... and love the place. Location is great.... the Inn is close to restaurants and town activities but is tucked away a bit so it is extremely quiet. You are about a two minute walk to the water and Agamont Park. Rooms are very comfortable and quiet. We stayed in the Rosemary room both times. Staff is great. The team serving breakfast this year deserves a particular shout out! Would definitely recommend!
