The stay itself was fine- there were a few minor issues that were resolved quickly and the staff were polite. The pool is nice and the views are exceptional from the rooftop, but the bar is short staffed which impacts on service. The room was clean and quiet. I have given a low rating as I was charged twice for my stay here, the second payment taken after check-out without permission. I flagged this with the hotel who issued a refund which was not sufficient to cover the amount taken due to fluctuating exchange rate- by about 10% of my entire stay. I have emailed them several times about this either to no response at all or to be told the refund was already sent, without appreciating what I’m actually telling them- that the refund was insufficient. After 3 weeks of going round in circles I have had to raise this with the credit card company instead.

Overall, our stay was not bad. However, we did encounter two issues with this hotel. Pros: - very convenient and close to the metro - they checked us in early at 10am despite the 3pm checkin time. - somewhat modern interior. Cons: - WE FOUND A GIANT FLYING COCKROACH (size of hand) before sleeping. We had to IMMEDIATELY pack our bags at 1am and go down to the reception and ask to change rooms, which they did. However, when we told them the issue they did not appear concerned or even bothered about this issue and after doing some research I have found that others have encountered this cockroach issue in the past. - some areas of the room definitely lacked some dusting.

YOU GET ROBBED INSIDE THE HOTEL!! Overall it’s a nice hotel but we had a bad experience with the group we were traveling. To one of the person we were traveling, as she was waiting on the couches on the Lobby, someone came and ask her something just to distract her and her backpack was STOLEN! INSIDE THE HOTEL. AND THEY WONT HELP YOU AT ALL! She had her laptop inside and all her other personal stuff! Imagine that! Then, our room was SUPER HOT although it is spring and they weren’t able to solve us. The AC wasn’t working! For a hotel of this “quality” one should expect better customer service! And then to someone else in our group someone wanted to open the door of their room in the middle of the night! So don’t come here if you want to EXPERIENCE CRIMINALITY! 🙃and they will answer with a lie! LIARS! Also internet super bad. It kept disconnecting from my phone and it happened to my family too!

I have never seen a hotel room this beaten up. I can't believe this is a 4 star hotel. It was dirty and poorly maintained. The wooden floor planks were old and some of the planks had big gaps, the floor was dirty, the shower full of rust, with loose faucets and patches of previous reparations.…the furniture and door frames were totally beaten up, the tv was unplugged (after plugging it in we realized that the power off button of the remote didn't work, so the previous guests probably unplugged it this way)… We brought it up to the receptionist and showed him the pictures. He was very nice and tried to help, but couldn't do anything because the hotel was fully booked. He himself recognized it was embarrassing. Honestly, this was the worst experience we've had in years. And not cheap, we paid a 4 star hotel rate. There's no excuses for a room in this state. Whether it's a one off or not (I doubt it is). The Hotel management should be on top of this. Wouldn't recommend.

I had a double room. As soon as you walked in the smell of the bathroom drains was overpowering. The furniture in the bedroom and bathroom had straps hanging off. The shower itself was very good and spacious but the wall surrounding it had mould on it in various different places. For a double room the actual floor space was very small. Considering they class themselves as a 4 star hotel and charge accordingly it definitely IS NOT worth the money. The only highlighting feature is the location and view from the rooftop

Before check out I would have given this hotel a 4 star rating, but that all changed when I went to check out. I was on the 5th floor and my room was nice, newer and well updated. And I actually had an iron and ironing board which seem to be in very short supply at this hotel, but overall I have no complaints about the hotel cleanliness, restaurants or bar. But what I have an issue is direct theft from the hotel. Near the end of my stay I inquired at the front desk about booking a massage. I was told that it was an outside service and they would call to see if they could book an appointment for me. I gave them my phone number and room number and went on my way. I never heard back from the front desk. By the time I got back the person I talked to was no longer at the front desk. So I concluded that they could not book a massage and just did not bother to call me. HOWEVER, when I checked out there was a spa treatment charge on my bill. I questioned it and said I never got the massage but just inquired. Their response was infuriating. "it was confirmed". That is all they kept saying. I see it was confirmed. So they confirmed something, did not tell me and then expected me to pay it! IN my mind they just stole that money from me. So my advise to you is dont use any extra services from this hotel as their follow up and then attention to a customer complaint is worthless. So I paid for something I did not get!!!!

We stayed at multiple hotels while in Barcelona and this one was our favorite! My husband and I had a view of the plaza which was so cool our first day arriving to Barcelona. The staff was friendly and the rooms were very clean. Housekeeping did an excellent job. The only thing I would say is the showers looked old. The bathroom had a bidet and toilet that were very clean. The room had clean sheets, and an extra blanket in the closet if you got cold. Highly recommend this hotel. Excellent location and excellent experience.

This hotel desperately needs a renovation. Everything is just old. Design looks like from the 80s. Many things just don't work. Breakfast was a disaster - you need to wait for 20-30 minutes to get an omelette (one person doing it for all the guests). What is more plates and glasses are dirty... it was disgusting. The only good think is roof top terrace but there you also need to wait 20 minutes to get a drink... Not recommended!

Excellent location but the worst services I have seen it in Europe. The front desk staff are the one that were helpful. The rooms are outdated and no plugs to charge you have to disconnect your TV or use bathroom. Mediocre breakfast and unwelcoming staff, same situation in the room food services, after my order and waited for 1 hour, they called and asked what I ordered and said I need to wait for another one hour. Never recommend this hotel!

We had so many problems. AC does not work. The rooms get extremely hot and staff told us they have to set the temperature for all rooms the same. The lobby and hallways feel great but the rooms feel like a desert. Room keys break daily. Elevators not functioning well. Elevators would get stuck. We once had to wait 15 mins for staff to help resolve an elevator issue at the lobby. Staff refused to let us use table space for a friend and I to meet because they needed it for restaurant customers when there were almost no customers. Bedding is uncomfortable. Bathrooms are old. This hotel sucks. It’s not worth the cost.

Be aware, until today Nov 21 the hotel refuses to heat any room. Meani g expect 18 to 19 degrees max in your room. Super uncomfortable. The hotel itself is good. But asking for the full price without heating in winter is a no go. Sorry And based on the reply of the management below, I am confused now as personel of the hotel confirmed to me during the stay that I am not the first one to complain and that the heating system was intentionally not set to work (probably to save energy and money).

This hotel is at a great location, when you walk in looks very nice and staff is friendly, but the rooms are outdated with old everything, air conditioner can barely keep up, and hair dryers only work for about a minute (they say is a safety feature, really... more like cheap hair dryers). Also prices at the bar seem to be higher than anywhere else. I agree with a previous comment, the hotel best days are long gone. Sounds like they need to start remodeling.

The location is amazing, very close to public transport and there is a mall nearby. However, service of the hotel has been disappointing (thus 3 star). I could not get the reception to have my room power plug fixed and their response is very slow (and in a way rude).

Stunning rooftop terrace, friendly staff. Breakfast very average and the minibar options weren’t great either. The rooms could do with some better noise isolation as well.

This hotel is not ready for 21st century. Everywhere else in Europe I had gotten a takeway box or a takeaway breakfast package - if I arrive late in night or am fasting in the morning, instead of breakfast buffet it’s possible to arrange something. Not here. They didn’t even allow me to take 1 croissant and 1 orange to my room for eating later!!! Took out of my hands. They don’t have slippers, body lotion or bathroom robe (to go to the pool), but this we can survive, can’t we. Also not a clean room (see my pic), gotta breath dust. For this price I expected better. Would not stay here again.

It's ok, the location is perfect, the airport shuttle stop right in front. The rooftop is amazing, the food is fresh, the drinks are fine. Unfortunately the room was so tiny and noisy. No hair conditioner (for a 4* hotel!), no body cream, just very basic stuff. Slow service in the hotel (not the restaurants!). Breakfast is rich, nice variety of food and freshly squeezed juices.

Centrally located. Iconic and historic structures just outside the hotel. Many good restaurants around. Safe metro subway within walking distance. Clean and comfortable, friendly staff. Wonderful breakfasts. Highly recommend.

The room is very nice and clean. Great location. Staff were not super helpful. AC didn’t work in our room for the duration of our stay. Staff checked it every day said it worked but it never did. Internet was spotty at best and would cut out every night. Windows were unable to shut properly no solution was provided from staff. On day two the front desk stopped answering our calls about the AC and internet issues. If internet and AC are important I would not stay here. If that is not important it is a great spot and the room has potential to be amazing.

This was a super nice hotel. What a roof top bar with a lot of sunbed and seating areas. Perfect location! Airport bus right outside. Metro station also right outside. 10 min to La rambla. And a shopping mall across the street with cafes, grocery store and more! A lot of bus connections from this hotel. Rooms was very clean and nice. With a stunning view! We got a lot of help from the staff! Especially Ana at the front desk was super nice everytime we needed help

We stayed as a family of 4 twice. Our first stay was in a suite with bunk beds. Everything was great. We were able to check in early and were on the top floor which may be difficult for some because we did have to take a few stairs after getting off the elevator. The bathroom was small but very nice and clean. For a short stay it was perfect. Our second stay was through New Years Eve. We had to wait to check in but they kept our belongings while we travelled around We had a view of the fountain and streets. The experience was amazing. We did go down and enjoy the festivities on the streets and were able to get back to our hotel fairly quickly unlike several thousands of people that waited an hour plus for the metro. Easy access to food, the mall, metro and more. We walked to several places from here or just hopped on the metro and could easily navigate and access various stops for shops and attractions. Short ride from the airport either via Uber or Metro. Would gladly stay again.

We stayed here 3 days. It was amazing. The rooms are really nice and the staff are SO FRIENDLY. Thanks to Susanna for letting us play and enjoy the lobby piano! She and the bar staff are very nice.

I would never stay here again. The lobby is deceiving, you think this is a great hotel till you get in a room. One outlet for the entire main room, mold on the bathroom ceiling, sconces falling from the walls, poor pillows ripped open, no working ARCON and a broken refrigerator. RUN AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE

Good vegan options for breakfast, cheese, sausage, hummus, Guacamole, potato (I assume fried with oil not butter) Heard of vegan egg, but have not seen it myself. Could not enter the gym with my Card. Rooms was cleaned even If I told the cleaning woman not to enter the rooms. Towels were changes even if they we're not put in the floor - not very sustainable.

Location is so perfect! You can easily take the train as it right outside the building. It is also close to both the airport and train station. There are always taxis outside to help with transportation as well. We weren’t able to get our google chrome cast fixed by anyone even though we asked multiple times. The maintenance service is so slow. We had to call multiple times in one day and still didn’t see anyone come up for it after waiting for 3 hours one night after we came home. The pillows smelled funky after a while even though the cleaning staff came day. (We stayed here for about 6 nights). Pool upstairs is very crowded and closes at 7. The rooms themselves are a little small but the bed is extremely comfortable. Ask for extra blankets if you get cold because the comforter is pretty thin. Overall, would highly recommend based on location and price!

Terrible experience managing a big event. No single point of contact, no information and no partner approach. Rooms are old. Not even a plug in the bed to charge your phone. Old bathroom and noise from Metro or trains. Go somewhere else. Breakfast and bar is great though.

Big hotel very well located, beautiful design in common spaces, excellent service and generous breakfast. Unfortunately the rooms were not up to a 4 star hotel. We first got an old room with mold in the bathroom, the WC didn't flush well, among other issues. After complaining they changed us to another room which was renovated. But again had several issues. If you stay here don't plan to spend to much time in your room, it is better to enjoy the common spaces.

Staying at this hotel 8-13th Nov 2023. Attending and speaking at a conference nearby so the location is perfect and strategic. However, the service and the room deserved less than a star or zero star if there is an option for that. I am staying at the 5th floor and there is a constant loud machinery sound 24hours (every 30 seconds). It cannot be due to on-going renovation as it is 24hours all day long. The shower place will flood every time I take shower. Went to the reception thrice over the first 2 nights and spoke to their staff. The hotel staff will just verbally pacify you (saying that they will send someone to check) but no true action done. Requested for a room change, but apparently hotel fully booked. Hotel room wifi is hopeless. The only reason I am still staying in this place is because my conference is still ongoing. Truly disappointed and have no idea how they even get a 4-star rating, And at 190+ Euros per night, this kind of service is outrageous and not acceptable. 3 more nights to suffer.

Nice room, good room service. Location is excellent that all types of vehicles are available to go anywhere. Metro station is too near to go anywhere. Hotel lobby has enough space to accommodate huge guest.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My stay at Catalonia Hotel was an absolute delight! From the moment I arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive. The lobby's serene ambiance set the tone for a relaxing experience. The room was spacious, impeccably clean, The bed was extremely comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep. What truly stood out was the exceptional service. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate my requests, providing personalized attention that made me feel valued as a guest. The hotel amenities were fantastic. The location was perfect, situated close to local attractions and offering easy access to transportation. Taxi and subway is right in front the hotel I highly recommend it for anyone seeking a luxurious, relaxing, and memorable getaway.

Fantastic views, nice size rooms, very clean, my only drawback would be that they switched the aircon to heating too soon in the year and left our rooms absolutely boiling. Couldn’t sleep with the window open as it was too loud with the road outside. Apart from that, all was great and this is one of my favourite places to stay in the city.

A horrible experience from start to finish! Our flight was delayed due to ongoing issues with easyjet, so we alerted hotels.com that we would be arriving a day late who confirmed with the hotel that this would be fine and are booking was guaranteed. On arrival staff were unbothered that we were waiting and when we did get served, we were greeted with coldness. They couldn’t find our booking on their system, even though we had it clearly stated on our phones. After an hour of trying to sort it, they said that we would have to pay the price that was set that day which was double the amount we were expecting to pay. We had no other option but to do this due to it being midnight and being tired from 24h of traveling. They said that they would try and resolve the issue with their manager in the morning and for us not to worry. Morning comes and the manager that they had promised was not there, but we were told we needed to wait another 3 hours till the next one arrived. We patiently waited and the manager that dealt with us was rude, ignorant and most of all made us feel small and that we had done wrong when we had done everything in our control to sort the situation. He smirked, no apology, no empathy and raised his voice. I cannot understand how nothing was done to help us but instead we left feeling sad and overcharged. As two young girls we hope no one else has to experience this.

One of the best hotels I've ever stayed in Spain. I always found someone ready to help at the front desk with genuine interest. The hotel seems to be renovated a while ago and the rooms are really nice and cozy with upgraded and elegant looks. Thank you Javier at the front desk for your professionalism.

I will just note the rooftop bar here. There is a very nice view on the Palace and the city, so it's nice for a date. Yet, cocktails are normal and service is not really good. I would recommend to go only for a drink and the view, as prices are not cheap.

Convenient location, nice rooms, clean and comfortable. In the interior, you can't hear the street traffic, however, you can hear the metro trains running under the building and feel their vibrations. Breakfast not really acceptable for a 4* hotel — everything constantly lacking: bread, cheese, fresh tomatoes, one morning even the milk for coffee. All parts of the breakfast buffet spread unpractically across dozens of meters. Ambiance of a railway station.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here at Catalonia Barcelona Plaza. Friendly and helpful staff from the minute I arrived, clean and modern room and wondeful location. The rooftop is a very big highlight and gives a great view of the city. Thank you for making my first solo trip one to remember :)

Lovely hotel, attentive staff, clean rooms, cosmopolitan breakfast. A couple of informational enquiries were dealt with efficiently and courteously. Air con was fine, I slept soundly, no external noise. If you're concerned, maybe ask for a room facing inwards rather than towards the plaza? Metro station and airport bus from directly outside the hotel. Would recommend.

If you compare this hotel with the hotels where are placed in tourism's regions like Türkiye, it is difficult to say that this hotel is better. It is good in it's class. The rooms are well furnished and clean. It is located at the center of the most important square named Espanya. The hotel is near the public transportation stops including taxi, bus and metro. The staffs are kind and costumer driven. It is more like a city hotel. The beach isn't at the walking distance. The view from the terrace floor where a small swimming pool is available is excellent.

Definitely not getting what you pay for. Rooms of 2nd floor very old with closet doors not even moving. When checked in, toilet was dirty, as well as the bed. UNACCEPTABLE regardless the price. Out of the 2 room ventilators, only one was working for Airconditioning. So very warm in the night. Hair Shampoo was empty. Asked in the reception in the morning to refill, never happened. I had to go to reception again in the evening, and wait for half hour to finally take a shower. On the good side, breakfast was very good and pool service/view also nice.

I stayed at this beautiful hotel and had a room with a jacuzzi/pool, it was absolutely wonderful. We barely left the room. The pool romantically lit at night with large glass windows reflecting the ambient light, plus the lights and sounds of the city, it was so perfect. Dog friendly and offered a bed. Complimentary welcome tray of fruit and wine. There was complimentary snacks and refreshments when I stayed but was a while ago. 10/10 Thank you so much.

Great family friendly hotel, excellent location, and very friendly staff. The room was modern, clean, and we've been welcomed with a champagne bottle! The roof pool and bar were amazing. Payed car parking on site. 22€ /day. The breakfast was amazing. One of best we've ever eaten. Definitely we'll comeback here!

Enjoyed stay here. Central location to metro & train, next to convenience store & mall. Nice rooftop bar with great view of city at sunset. Rooms are spacious and have double paned window (very quiet at night).

Really the perfect hotel. Modern, good beds, fantastic shower, very clean, breakfast even has details like oatmilk. Staff very friendly and helpful. Pool on roof is a great get away. The location is great - first stop on the areobus from the airport and it's pretty much in the center of Barcelona. Will stay here on future visits if possible.

I stayed at this hotel with my husband and baby. All staff were very friendly and the hotel was very clean. The particular room we stayed in was lovely and the view was incredible. Overall I’m very happy with the hotel I’m giving it 4 stars as it’s currently undergoing construction so some areas were out of bounds. I would definitely return to this hotel.

Good 4* hotel. Great location. Visted whilst in renovation and off peak time so not all facilities were available eg. The rooftop bar and rooftop swimming pool. Good clean rooms. Friendly staff. Overall good experience, would definitely recommend.
