The hotel is very central, you can walk pretty much anywhere. It has a terrace with amazing views over the city and a shallow pool with water jets that my kids loved. The room itself was ok, we stayed at a junior suite and it was clean, but has seen better days. The breakfast buffet was a little bit disappointing to be honest. The scrambled eggs and the yogurt were nice, they had some cold cuts and pastries. But limited choices and average quality. The staff were very friendly and accommodating though. In particular at the reception. Which coupled with the scenic staircase, and old grand hotel vibe, made our stay very nice.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this hotel in Barcelona that offered an unbeatable combination of great location and exceptional service. Situated in the heart of this vibrant city, the hotel provided easy access to Barcelona's most iconic attractions and bustling neighborhoods. From the moment I arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was nothing short of perfect. Their warm hospitality and genuine care made me feel welcome and valued throughout my visit. The rooms were not only comfortable and well-appointed but also offered breathtaking views of the cityscape. The hotel's attention to detail was evident in every aspect, from the delicious breakfast spread to the concierge service that helped me navigate the city with ease. Whether it was recommending the best local restaurants or arranging transportation, the staff was always ready to assist with a smile. I can confidently say that my stay in Barcelona was enhanced by the hotel's excellent location and impeccable service. It truly deserves a five-star rating, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable experience in this enchanting city.

Good solid hotel. Easy to locate and welcoming entrance and lobby. Very helpful staff 24/7. Breakfast okay, maybe not a huge selection of neither vegetables nor sausages but still qualifies as okay/ good. The hotel is fantastically located close to pubs restaurants flamenco dancing and shops. 350 meters to the airport bus makes it ideal to stay. Majestic view from the roof , and don’t miss trying the small pool whilst there. Only drawbacks are; Firstly - The hotel has same heating/cooling in all rooms so it was very warm in the room since the hotel insisted on heating mode when we visited. We had to sleep with open windows, sadly with expected street noise reaching our room. Our view was not impressive, a brick wall 10 foot away. Secondly- The rooms are really not soundproof so a lot of noise is to be expected. We heard the elevator going up and down . And please can’t you fix at least one channel for English speaking guests ? That would be a bonus .

We loved the hotel! Best location ever! Close to the Pl Catalonia and best shopping stores. Right next to Massimo Dutti and the Nike store and so much more. The service was excellent, kind receptionists, willing to help and assist. We asked for a double bed (instead of two singles) and they agreed to switch rooms. The only thing that was less exciting was the bed, it rolled with us LOL. We had coffee/tea in the room and I loved the ritual shampoo products. Great for couples.

I could talk about the breakfast, the pool, the central location but oh my goodness the staff! I have stayed in many many hotels with all sort of ratings over the years (from none to five stars) but none can equal the genuine professionalism of the staff of this hotel. I could write a full paragraph but will just say, we’ll done guys, you made my daughter and my stay wonderful!

This hotel was perfect. Our room was beautiful, the breakfast had something for everyone's taste. But the service we received from every employee was outstanding. They were so helpful and friendly. The rooftop was a nice getaway, and the pool is beautiful. Location was perfect to see sights and to their transit system. I would definitely book this hotel again when visiting Barcelona.

We loved every bit of this classic style, elegant hotel. Our room was modern and updated. The breakfast room is very large and such a wide variety of items to choose from which made for a great breakfast where the staff is very attentive and the food is fresh. The hotel had plenty of staff in September. The pool is small for wading in but the photos already show this. There is seating around the bar area at the pool and more lounge/sun chairs and other seating available a few steps up on the upper deck. You get a great view of the city from both the pool deck and upper deck. The restaurant attached to the hotel has limited seating and supposedly great food so book well ahead to get seating at your preferred time. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and recommend it to all. View the photos on Google maps of the hotel to get an idea of what you can expect.

Positives ….Location …..Quiet…..Safe…..Professional/polite staff….good room(maid) staff Negatives…..badly stained carpet…….Bedside lamps drooping on their fittings…… No slippers provided ….Blackout curtains don't meet up……Tiny (250ml) bottles of complimentary water. Overall we enjoyed our stay…good value for the cost.

This was just as hoped. Comfortable and quiet room looking out onto the street and trees. Amenities were nice and the shower set up wonderful, although bed and connections for bedsides could be updated. Breakfast was excellent and we had no difficulties. Loved the champagne upon arrival, and we enjoyed a bit of time on the rooftop with the offered glass of wine taking in the sites. Overall location made the additional cost worth it to easily move around the area.

This is an older hotel but kept perfect. The charm of the rooms with wood work as well as the decor was very nice. The rooms were immaculate and they gave us connecting rooms so the kids were close by. Upon check in the staff was friendly and accommodating. Room was ready with a bottle of Champagne on ice for us. Location is the best part. It is in the center of town by all the major landmarks making it easy to walk around. Breakfast could be better but overall was fine.

This hotel is obviously not a brand new hotel it goes back to 1952, therefore you can find issues due to it's age, however it's been well maintained. It's a classy beautiful hotel with great service. They have great professionally well trained staff with amazing service, which in my opinion is number one factor when you travel to a foreign country, when you are a tourist you need a proper service, a great host, which this hotel delivers that need. Starting from the front desk to the rest of the staff. Breakfast was great, location is perfect, they don't have restaurant but you can make reservations with the restaurant next to them in advanced since it gets booked so fast. We didn't use the pool or the rooftop much but some may like it. Israil works at the front desk and he helped us with all our questions and needs many times, he was very helpful and friendly he made reservations for us at Botafumeiro restaurant and we loved it. We had a great experience with great memories from Barcelona. Thank you.

Stayed here 23rd-25th September during La Merce. Had an amazing stay here and would definitely return – pricing was reasonable considering the time of year, and the triple room was in fantastic condition and spacious with comfy beds. Location is about one block north of being the best it could possibly be. The roof terrace is also great, and while the pool could be bigger, what exactly do people expect in the centre of the city? Feel like most of the negative reviews are being picky if I'm honest. The breakfast could be better value, and overall there are better value/luxury hotels in the area, but it was still excellent overall. Staff also lovely.

Delightful hotel, immaculately clean and stunningly decorated internally, it's beautiful. Staff are very welcoming and helpful, no trouble is too small or big to be dealt with. Breakfast is fantastic, enormous range of good food, very well presented and arranged. Love this hotel and hope to return soon.❤️

amazing service! We loved all the staff. Their rooftop pool was beautiful with splendid views. The rooms were beautiful but could use a good ventilation system. We were there in the winter so heat was on and AC was not functional. We had to open the door of the balcony to get fresh air because the rooms would get too hot and dry.

I booked the suite for my trip, which is a newly renovated room and wow. It exceeded my expectations. There are lots of food and drink options nearby and the views from the rooftop bar can't be beat.

The Pros: The location is fantastic for Central Barcelona and walking distance or a short metro ride to many attractions. The hotel is a historic building and you can imagine it being quite something back in the day. The service was pretty standard, not particularly good but not bad either. We had a twin room and the size was fair for Barcelona. Beds were comfy and the cleaning service was good, we particularly liked how they stocked up the Rituals toiletries every day. The bathroom had clearly been refurbished and was a great size for the two of us - nice to have your own sink and a powerful shower. The Cons: The main bedroom however was in great need of refurbishment. It was clean but everything was quite dated. Also, I think this is a no smoking hotel however after a five night stay my clothes (clean ones, that had been hung in the wardrobe the whole time) smelt of stale smoke, which can only have come from the room itself. As mentioned by others, power points are inconveniently placed and some only work if you have the lights switched on. The WiFi isn't strong enough to work on. The walls are paper thin, as we found when our neighbours decided to crank up their music. The pool is nice but there are just a few deckchairs and no loungers. The key situation is ridiculous. Having to leave the key each time you exit the hotel is just tedious and means extra admin if you're not permanently attached to whoever you're sharing a room with. Overall our stay was fine but I wouldn't stay here again for these reasons, as you can get more for your money in the vicinity.

Clean hotel with good breakfast. Bed needed a new mattress as it sagged in the middle. We were not able to get early check-in from a long international flight. Nice views from the top level. The pool is very small, not as big as depicted in the website photos- so small not fit for any swimming exercise, and the water temperature was too cold to be comfortable when we visited in mid October. The staff said the heated was turned off because of the warm weather, but the highs were in the mid 80s and resulted in very cool pool water. Be sure to ask for the pool dimensions if the pool is important to your stay.

We staid in this hotel for 5 nights and had a great experience. Gabriela, Front Desk representative was amazing! She help a lot with all our tours reservations. Very pleasant and nice. She provided great customer service and make our vacation unbelievable.

Great hotel at a superb location! Everything close - the sights, the public transport, shops.... Our room was spacious and clean. There is a coffee machine in the room and capsules are provided for. Also, we got a small bottle od water everyday. Plus, the toiletries are just amazing - Rituals! The staff are helpful and friendly, they are here to help and assist! Pool on the roof with an amazing view is added value!

Superb hotel in the city center. Rooftop terrace to die for. Staff was very polite, helpful and professional. They take very good care of their guests, and go out of their way to make sure you have most pleasant experience. Will come back for sure.

The room was spacious, beautiful and very clean. The beds were nice and comfortable and a cot with a high quality mattress and blanket was provided for our baby. The staff were amazing. The location in perfect and in close proximity to all the main attractions.

By far one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. Pros : Bathroom is large and modern - The rooftop has a beautiful view- the staircase is great for photo ops- Location is amazing Cons: The pool is very small- we did not have a proper functioning air conditioner on day 1 and day 3 - We did not have hot water to shower on day 2 - the rooms have carpet and are disgusting - to have any friends come visit is extremely uncomfortable and have a massive process requiring their passports, which most tourist don't go about the city carrying their passports. Staff is mediocre at best. Do not recommend whatsoever, you can still get a great location and a better hotel than this place that looks like it peaked in 1992.

We stayed 4 nights with 2 small kids (1 and 3 year olds) in junior suite. It was very comfortable space because the living space and entrance can be completely private. Breakfast was very nice but would have been nice if they had more simple fruits like bananas and apples.

You cannot beat this location ! Staff super friendly. Rooftop view amazing , with backyard size warm pool even in November. Room for three was very clean and large enough, and you have espresso machine complimentary in room for 1 cup a day plus water bottles each day . Breakfast above expectations and open until 11 a.m . I recommend booking through their website since you get a better rate and checkout at 14:00 p.m as a bonus.

A bit of a mixed experience staying here. The service is good, breakfast had a good selection & the location is excellent. However the rooms are lacking, cold and a bit dated. In its prime it must have been a 4 star hotel, but it is not the case anymore. It did not feel luxurious in any way apart from the entrance and the lobby. The right place to stay if you are in Barcelona for a short period and just want a good central location to visit the sites. But not the right place if you're here for a special weekend.

Lovely hotel in a great location. Situated between Passeig de Gracia and Pl. Catalunya metro stations. The area is very lively both in the day and night, but the rooms are soundproof so noise was not a problem at all. All of the staff were so good to us during our four night stay, and housekeeping did a great job making up our room everyday. The hotel is in an historical building which is absolutely gorgeous. There is a rooftop pool and bar from 9am to 9.30/10pm. Air conditioning worked well in the very spacious twin room. There was also a mini fridge and smart TV as well as a coffee machine. We really enjoyed our stay, thank you so much.

If you want to know what true hospitality looks like stay at El Avenida Palace. I have been staying here over the past 10 years, and while some of the staff may have changed the culture of the hotel has not. Friendly Welcoming, a home away from home. This hotel knows how to deliver true hospitality.

The hotel is stunning and our bedroom and bathroom were both lovely. We really enjoyed our stay in Barcelona until we realised that £200 had gone missing from our room. The safe was playing up so to avoid not being able to open it for an early departure ,we took our document case out the day before we left. Sadly, when we checked the following morning, the money had gone. We did report it to reception when we checked out, who said they would investigate but said we should have used the safe. Not heard from them since! We were concerned about pickpockets in Barcelona, not thieves amongst the staff. Be warned.

The hotel was nice and well located; the room was clean and the bathroom was large and well-appointed, but the pool was an issue. A primary reason we chose the hotel was for the pool and bar area on the roof. However, we were unable to use the pool, since there were between 6 and 12 children in the relatively small pool at all times. We were never able to relax by the pool, which means we didn't buy anything from the bar. I would suggest they make separate hours for families and adults; We felt like we missed out on one of the main things we wanted to do on our vacation.

It's a hotel worth considering. The rooms are nice and clean, the location is good and the service is solid. The breakfast is also nice. I can't give it 5 stars for one minor and one major reason. The minor reason is that there are no universal outlets in the rooms -- make sure to bring an adapter if you're not from Europe! The major reason is that there are only two small elevators and one has been out of service several days. Quite unacceptable for a hotel of this class. Either get a room on a lower floor or bring your sneakers and be prepared to climb stairs!

We read some reviews about smell in the hotel , but we booked it anyways because we loved how it looked on booking site. And we did not regret the booking one bit. Everything from reception to rooms to terrace pool to amazing views and the fact that the hotel is also considered a monument. The staff was very responsive and helpful. They let us keep the luggage even after checkout till late at night and even use the swimming pool after checkout. Even the basic rooms feel grand as compared to a lot of places available in that similar price range. Definitely recommend it and will definitely stay here again next time we visit barcelona.

Nice people at the reception. Rm 404. Wifi is 9mbps. That’s unacceptably slow. Carpet had stains. Bed was sunken in the middle. You should rotate the bed or get a new one. Bathroom is great. Cleaning person does a great job at cleaning and getting room tidy. Overall people work there are awesome, people who are in charge are disappointing.

Nicely maintained old Hotel with all of the grandure as to be expected. Rooms are a bit dated but spacious and are very very well (house)cleaned with a complementary set of Rituals products, large towels, great coffee, etc. Super views from the roof, with nice but small pool. The breakfast is also great, fresh and with a large range of products. And a very friendly, proffesional staff troughout the Hotel.

Have only stayed one night but the rooms are nice, as well as clean. They have a complementary breakfast bar with good European style food and some American items. It is located in what seems to be the shopping heart of the city near many boutiques and expensive stores. Seems to only be a few miles form the Gothic quarter and many of the gaudi tourist attractions.

Amazing hotel. We've been there in low season, and booked it just few days before the trip, and still got a room with nice view at top-1 floor. Pro: - Large room - Clean - Nice service - Good wifi - Terrace with pool at the top sporting a great view of the city (the pool is heated though small, so when it's cold outside it doesn't really help) - Good location We've really enjoyed the stay.
