Barcelona Zoo is a hidden gem. It’s located at the end of a beautiful park. It’s huge!!! It took me two hours just to walk around, even then I didn’t see everything! Some of the enclosures are small, so I couldn’t see some of the big cats, but the rest are ample for the animals. Around €24 per adult and €12 for under 12’s. Use the official zoo website to buy tickets, as they give you months to use them. The other website Tickets were just for that day. Great if your plans change last minute. Especially if it rains! Plenty of spaces for you to bring your own lunch. The zoo is perfect for a young family to visit. You can get the metro there and walk a few minutes to find it.

The zoo is clean and educational (we have panels to get info on the species), and the plan isn’t too bad. I wouldn’t recommend visiting when it is real hot outside, animals hide in the shadows and don’t feel good, as it seemed. We feel quite close to the animals. We did not see the big felines, probably due to the heat. But no trace of the lions. The gorilla-giraffe-elephant spaces are pretty good. The playground for kids seemed nice. Bring coins for drinks dispensers. Some vendors are apparently not so happy having clients, that’s definitely something to improve. Some areas are in renovation. The delphinarium is closed. Tickets remain expensive.

Nice but not spectacular. Positive is that it’s not overcrowded. Negative is the fact that many areas are closed and/or under construction. It’s a pity that none of the restaurants were open and the person at the souvenir shop gave the impression to be very bored, looking the whole time in her mobile phone instead of interacting with the customer.

One suggestion for people - with possibility bring food for picnic (there are many places to sit and enjoy the time there). Also think about lunch time for animals and what you would like to see (more active), because after it they usually just resting and being passive. also there are lockers there for bags (3-5 euros for visit time). In 4 euros box I had put my 80 liter backpack.

Great place for the whole family. This zoo is well maintained and the staff are always nice. The prices are fair and the membership programs are awesome for even better deals. Its such a large well done zoo. It had so much that I wasn't expecting. Even a butterfly exhibit and 3D theater. The animals seem well taken care of as well. So many beautiful ones to see plus the scenery of the zoo itself its worth walking around just to view. The food is also very good from the small vendors available. I would recommend to any age. I had an opportunity to visit in September 2020 on my way to Cleveland, Ohio. I thoroughly enjoyed myself here. Lots to see and do. This Zoo will make a child or adult of any age happy. Well worth the cost of admission and parking. They do have security patrols in the parking lot which made me feel safer visiting.

Left a lot to be desired. 25$ a person and most of the major exhibits were shut down. No manatees, no polar bears, no lemurs, no lions, no elephants. I'm sure I'm forgetting some things because it felt like half of the exhibits we walked past were closed.. And next week, its 8$ a person. Would have waited if I'd have known everything would be closed. The reptiles were awesome, the monkeys were SUPER awesome, and the apes were cool too. Over all, I'd rate it 6/10.

Fun place to visit, I would recommend planning 3+ hours to visit the whole place. Plenty of spaces inside the zoo and it had bicycles inside for you to use. I liked the insect museum. Great for families too. Food outside: there is a very nice tapas place nearby that's called Perikete which is just 15 minutes walk away which I highly recommend, (stools type of seating).

We had an okay experience at Barcelona Zoo. The area is extremely large - we were there for over 3 hours. I would say that’s the minimum amount of time needed, especially if you’re looking to see as much as possible. In terms of animals, there was a fair amount to see, but quite a few closed areas (no tiger, no reptiles, etc), which was a big shame and should be mentioned on the website or app prior to the visit. Of the animals we did see, some looked really crowded and unhappy in their enclosures - certain enclosures were just far too small, which needs to be rectified. On the contrary, others had a lot of space, which just didn’t make sense and felt a little unfair. Barcelona Zoo offers multiple restaurants and places to go and grab something to eat, which is really nice, but the quality of the food is low. The chips were bland and everything is overpriced in general. I would suggest maybe bringing a picnic instead for a better experience. I was also not a big fan of where the zoo is situated, as it felt very industrial around and not really the ideal place for all of these species. Whilst we enjoyed our day out and saw some cool animals, I think this zoo needs to think more about the well-being of the animals, improve their services and be a bit more vocal about when things are closed. These elements would really make things better.

This is the most amazing and beautiful zoo that I have ever been to. The last time I went to the zoo in Portland, Oregon - I left so depressed that I didn’t think I could ever go to a zoo again. Fast forward 14 years and here I am in Barcelona. My 15 year old and I had so much fun! There are so many animals to see. The bird selection is amazing. The bug exhibit was a big highlight for me. It was so well done! The park is super clean, and I am not talking about just the people areas. The animal exhibits are so well kept, you can see that they are well taken care of and have plenty of space. We really loved seeing the peacocks roaming freely around the park, the first one that we saw made is panic that maybe it had escaped! We made sure to see every exhibit and it was a true joy to visit this place. Highly recommend!

Quite a large area to explore. The animals seemed to be in good shape. We went during midday onwards so most animals were pretty passive. Definitely check the penguins out if you can catch them while they are fed. The bird house was really interesting as well. Bigger animals include giraffes, elephants and lions! The seals were the most active, swimming around and one of them being very vocal!

Visited the zoo in December 2023 for the second time, not too busy, kids enjoyed all the animals. The most interesting part was to discover the parrot which was talking. With 5 kids we stayed about 5 hours in the Zoo. There are 2 playgrounds as well where children also explored. The food in the restaurant was delicious. We took 5 kid's menus which were big enough to satisfy hungry tummies of children aged 5->11. There few animals missing this time, in comparison with December 2021 when we visited this site for the first time.

My girlfriend and I visited the zoo in February. The weather was perfect and the sun was shining. Upon arrival we were amazed by the location of the zoo, which is in the middle of the city. The place is so big, much bigger than I had expected. We saw a lot of animals except for the Komodo Dragons. The old enclosures looked a little small sometimes, but the new ones were amazing. Overal, we had a great experience and would highly recommend. As an animal lover I would have loved to see some more invertebrates and some reptiles like snakes, lizards, and crocodiles.

It is lovely and reasonably priced. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to cover it all but what we saw felt special. There is also a large playground area. Zoo didn't look big but we couldn't find any cafe on the part we covered and our son got very hungry and we left. There are toilets at both ends. And you can enter the zoo from both sides too.

I would give it 3.5 stars.. If you book tickets online it's cheaper. Anyway regarding the zoo, it's a nice place to visit with the family. My family and I went to this park and did both quads and laser combat. We loved it all, especially laser combat. We had a lot of fun and enjoyed the forest and urban combat terrain. Mat was awesome with his explanations and making the games motivating and exciting. Will go again any time.

The food inside was awful tho I dont suggest even trying it 😂 I loved that you could walk in the cage with the birds and the graffiti got close enough you could almost pet them. The restaurant is really well priced and good varied food! 👌🏼I recommend booking in advance to get a seat when you finally decide to get food otherwise a wait can be up to 5-10 minutes. Staff look like they really care about the animals and are always friendly and willing to answer your questions. They have pretty much something from every category and if you get the app, you can see when certain events are taking place to join in. If you get hungry and need a rest, there are two cafeterías (that I am aware of) inside and although not 5*, they not bad at all. Place is also very kid friendly with a whole play area. You can very easily spend the whole day here with a little one to explore the whole area. Personally, I take the little one for a visit once a month and it’s always a pleasure. We visit several times a year. Well worth the hour drive!!

The Zoo would be more exciting if all the animals were out. A lot of the animals were not out, so it was a lot of walking without seeing animals.

The zoo has done a nice job adjusting to covid. Pretty much everything is still open. We had a great time like always.

Lovely to visit with Family or friends. A bit overpriced 'however its worth the experience for the young ones. Make sure to bring some food or you will have to wait for 30min in lines to buy some chow. Animals are well cared for. 100% recommend. Also' bring some bananas as the orangutan will love you 4 it! Plenty of animals to see, very atractive environment, definitely worth a visit.

Great and beautiful zoo garden near to the beach. Fantastic zoo garden located in great area in Ciutadella Parc. Everything is very close: arc of triumph, the beach, picasso museum. Tickets include interesting tour by different departments of zoo which contains different animals. Zoo staff friendly and helpful

The zoo is nice. It's not too big, so you will have some energy left after a visit. The animals seem to be living in good conditions, I didn't see anything depressing. The thing I enjoyed a lot was peacocks that walk among people like pigeons.

Great place to go for regular trips. Very nicely maintained. The animals are lovely and looked after from what I saw. There is also a nice play area for kids of all ages which is very useful.

The zoo was extremely great,if you have time you must consider visiting it yourself.If considered visiting the tickets would be best to be purchased in advance.

Dicent zoo, good size. I’m not sure about some cages for animals, they are little bit too small. Also tiger not look to happy. Probably because she/he is alone.

Unfortunately, this is one of those sad zoos with tiny enclosures for some of the animals (example: small monkeys and birds) and some in clear distress (jaguar was mindlessly pacing back and forth in a tiny enclosure. Although, it looks like they are working on upgrades and bigger enclosures for some of the animals (I really hope those building sites are not new retail places.) The playground and the human spaces are spacious and well maintained, but they should do the same for all the animals too. Although the attached image looks lovely, it is a tiny space for these migrating birds (who are obviously not able to fly because their clipped wings or whatever they do to stop them from flying away)

It is a big zoo..It took almost three hours to walk through it..It could be a lot better and cleaner! A lot of animals weren't in zoo..animals like polar bears,tigers,wolves.. dolphins performance wasn't open due to covid 19.. it has a lot of other animals though! You have to walk through the gift shop to exit the zoo!

Nice zoo, but … You can’t see dolphins and their show, due to covid-19. And there’s a lot of reconstruction going and and basically you can see only 1/2 of the zoo (while the price is not reduced).

Very nice zoo. Great service at entry. Clean and well designed. Not cheap but worth the visit.

Super nice place for kids and adults. I really enjoyed that day. There were some places under maintenance like Dolphin and I couldn't find the Ostrich. However, it's a very nice place.

Nice zoo, good to keep your kids entertained for a whole day. They have one restaurant inside(a bit pricy) and some snack places. Toilets could be cleaner, though.

Large zoo, pitty most of the animals were not visible probably as it was really hot outside. Also, several building works were taking place so could not visit the aquarium and dolphins. We were looking forward to seeing the big cats but with all the cages, only one was outside. The Monkeys provided quite a bit of entertainment. The glass windows to cages was quite reflective which made viewing the animals difficult. Love a zoo visit but overall this was a meh visit for me. If you bought one of the bus 24/48 hour passes don't forget to show and see if you get a discount, we save about 30%.

What a great place, we could have spent many more hours here. You could see the care for the animals and the concern for protecting endangered species. Awesome place in a beautiful setting.

Dolphins were not available. Remaining constructions were nice prepared. Excellent playgroud for kids. We have bought tickets via website. Although at 10:30 on Sunday there was not too much people.

Very nice! Located near the coast, so a visit can be combined with some time at the beach. Great condition and large variety of species.

This place seems like on reconstruction. Some enclosures empty and we waste a lot time guessing is there any animal inside. Giraffe didn’t go outside. And most of animals were hidden. Best of all you can see the flamingo. And there is few different families of these birds. But in my opinion this price is not ok for seeing just flamingo and few more animals. We saw elephant, giraffe, zebra, crocodile, hippopotamus and marmots with an-eater

Just loved it. Hugeeee place, takes 1 day full. Animals are very well taking care off, big space with green and shadows. you have restaurants to buy drinks and food. For small children there are enough green spaces and shadows to sit down with them.

Beautiful place with plenty of fauna to see. Animals look well cared for and we had a lovely day. Lots of places to drink and get food. Recommended if you have children as there are play parks and a farm area which they would love.

Good zoo, nice big territory, zones for kids with swings, slides etc. If you are planning on coming more then ones/living here - they have different membership cards which are super good value compare to one time entrance fee. I also recommend to bring your own water/drinks as it’s overpriced in the vending machines (~4€ for Coca-Cola for example:) two entrances on different sides of the park, facilities for strollers, also holders for babies at the toilets. Doesn’t feel crowded, but of course during weekends much more people, peacocks are walking around freely giving a show with their amazing feathers time to time and making a loud noises 🦚☺️ 😅

The animals all looked happy, content and well looked after, they is a lot of walking so be prepared to get a lot of steps in and wear comfortable shoes. The animals were magical to see up close and personal.

There were lots of animals and most were easily seen. Food and drink were hard to come by. Most small food booths were closed (last week of May) and the main restaurant opened 12.30 on the afternoon which was quite late for us Finns. There were a few soda/snacks dispensers, but unfortunately we didn't have coins with us.

I visited this zoo with my family last Friday , I expected to see a location that would impress me, something worthy of Barcelona, ​​but unfortunately this zoo did not seem very well maintained. Certain cages were not well maintained and small, certain areas of the park in disrepair or renovation.

My partner and i went to the zoo on Friday whilst we're on holiday in Barcelona, and i have to say it is one of the best zoos i have ever been to. I dare say it might be better than Dublin. We walked around for 2 and half hours and we didnt even get to see all the animals as we went too near closing time! So i would advise to go a little early in the afternoon to ensure you see everything, although saying that i would advise to book in advance as we had done and got to go straight through instead of queueing. 10/10 i would definitely take another trip back. A must visit!!

Not the best zoo, enclosures are not spacious at all and many are not well decorated. It isn't too big or too far of a walk and it is easily accessible. The tickets aren't very expensive either.

Lovely zoo. We wasn't able to see any of the large cats as they were inside due to it being to hot. Indoor viewing of these areas would make the zoo so much better. We needed the whole day to explore with two young boys and escaped from the sun in the main restaurant (only one open during the week - all food courts are open at weekends). We went on the trip with Jet2 so cost more, but was definitely worth a visit if you expect children. Buy drinks before you go in as when your in there they charge double the price. Lovely selection of animals and overall cleanliness of the park is good. Gift shop is extortionate and they make you walk through to exit.

Der Zoo hat ein ziemlich weitläufiges Gelände und es lassen sich hier, gerade mit Kindern, einige Stunden verbringen. Leider konnten wir einen Teil der Tiere (vor allem die Großkatzen) bestimmt auf Grund des heißen Wetters nicht besichtigen. Ich persönlich empfand viele Gehege für einige der Tiere als zu klein. Beispielsweise war ein Orangutan-Männchen komplett für sich alleine in einem Glashaus. Er bewegte sich durch um sich selbst drehende Bewegungen durch seine Behausung. Für die Kinder war das zwar lustig, für mich war es hingegen kein schöner Anblick. Ich kenne andere Zoos wo die Haltung, meiner Meinung nach, um einiges artgerechter ist.

A great mid-sized zoo in the centre of Barcelona's Citadel Park. The variety of animals is fantastic, and a lot of care has gone into the way the exhibits are presented and explained. We were easily able to spend 3+ hours wandering around. I understand that the zoo targets 100% ethical operation - however some of the enclosures seemed too small, especially for the Silverback gorillas. Some sections of the park were also closed (for maintenance?), so it's probably worth checking ahead if you want to see everything.

We went with grandchildren 8,12 & 14 they were all interested for the 4 hours we were there incl. a short stop for lunch which was priced as expected for an attraction. Perhaps take a picnic and water bottle, plenty of picnic benches and taps. Print off zoo map before going. If you have seniors and children aged up to 12 buy tickets on the gate. I hope the gorillas and other animals have larger enclosures soon.

The best ZOO I have visited till now. Very good conditions for animals and for visitors, too. Good restaurant and benches on every corner. During the school day it was perfectly calm.

Entrance was about what I'd expect to pay to enter a zoo of its size. I attended with my toddler, and she loved seeing many different animals. Particularly the Giraffes, her laughter seemed to attract them towards us, which she loved. I could see the animals were well looked after with regular cleaning of enclosures. The keepers were also friendly and polite. Many toilet facilities throughout the park, and we ate hotdogs at a kiosk with benches, and we were accompanied by the local peacocks. Some parts of the park were under construction or closed (the crocodile enclosure) however it was a great family day out.

It was the most wonderful experience I've had visiting this zoo! 😁 There was a wide range of animals that you could see throughout your stay. The children were absolutely astonished by the animals! 🤩

Quite a large zoo with a sizeable collection of animals. Some enclosures seemed slightly cramped though :( no additional experiences aside from animal watching (no feeding, shows etc). Takes around 2h to walk around everything. Study the map, cause the place is not laid out intuitively :)

Visited the Park in early November 2023. Many of the cages were empty, being rebuilt or closed for other reasons. I am not a vet or a biologist, but many of the animals did not seem happy. very confined space for bears, gorillas and chimps. Guess the bears posture says it all. Giraffes were being fed by visitors with all kinds of stuff. Not really ideal.

Lovely Zoo if you haven’t got anything else to do before you fly home. Lots of animals to see try avoiding going at lunch time as most animals are eating or sleeping!

Lovely zoo with most animals outdoors. A lot of species. It was Kangaroo Day, so we got 2 free entries.

Went 2 hrs before they closed and none of the restaurants/ cafes were open. The place wasn’t overly packed and the animals seemed chilled and living in clean areas.
