Beautiful quiet beach. Would be 5* if it were dog free.

A lovely little cove, approximate 10 minute walk from the fairground area of barry island. A steep entrance on the one side could make it difficult for wheelchair access, although you can access from the coastal path, which ends on the beach itself. Beautiful views, a cold shower and public toilets, and is generally quieter and has the feeling of a bit more exclusivity. Stay a safe distance away from the crumbling rocks when setting up 🙏😎🙂

Beautiful little beach, dog friendly and not too busy, but a lovely coastal walk to Barry Island for drinks and food etc.

Note: This is a Dog owners beach. PLEASE Note: Do not sit at the Cliff Base unless you are wearing a hard hat. This is not a joke.. little stones fall all the time with some large ones.

Good if you have a dog. As you cant go the good beaches!! Avoid if you dont! Toilets-lets just say avoid them! Parking a nightmare. You can either pay £ 6 for the day at Barry and walk around with all your stuff. 15 mins walk. Not great if youv got a dog, pushchair, bags, etc Or find space, ( one side of road only. Other is permit only) walk down big hill with a dog, pushchair, bags, etc to get beach and stay 2 hours, then go back up big hill with all your stuff.

Great that dogs are welcome all year round. Parts of the beach are a weird and yucky wet sand which is difficult to walk across for humans and dogs alike.

Beautiful sand beach a stone throw from Barry Island, the cliffs make it feel more secluded. Access is easy with a walkway down. Parking was not easy and can imagine during hot holiday season it would be difficult to park.

Gorgeous quiet place. Less windy than the main beach too and warmer. My personal preference over the main beach at Barry. The tide is in during the morning normally so don't make our mistake of going in the afternoon if you're in for a dip as the water goes very far out during low tides in the afternoon

Small bay, quieter than the main beach. Jacksons Bay is just around the headland from the main Barry Island beach. Dogs are allowed at Jacksons all year around. Its usually quiet, but families do like to visit in the height of summer, which can be a bit fraught for both families and dog owners. If you dislike dogs, then the main Barry beach is for you....

Small but beautiful dog friendly beach tucked away around the corner from Barry Island only problem is whilst walking there yesterday I came across dog poo in bags just left on the beach!! What's wrong with people why don't they just find the nearest bin its not hard to do we have to keep our beaches clean.

Amazing view and quiet place, but you have to be aware from parking ticket as it as a resident area only.

Lovely quiet secret sandy bay. Few facilities and usually no crowds. Sloping path down to it, but well worth it.

A hidden treasure, guess for us with 2 dogs it's probably better this time of year with less people. The dogs loved it we loved it and with the sun shining couldn't have asked for more, well perhaps some toilets open out of season 😀 but otherwise delightful. Free to enter.

Spent all my life taking trips to Barry for family days out and never realised this bay existed just a few hundred mitres around the corner from main beach. Stunning little beach soft sand and shallow safe water for the kids.

Beautiful beach that's dog friendly. A steep walk down to it but it's pram friendly.

Good calm place , quite a few dogs. But no shops or restaurants nearby. Try to come during high tides that's the best..

Nice small quiet and sheltered beach/bay. Has toilets, but no food stands that I could see. Dog friendly beach which we were looking for and clean. Happy with the visit and afterwards popped over the the main Barry beach (not dog friendly this time of year) which was windy with a choppy sea, so glad we ended up at Jackson's beach.

Beautiful beach, usually quieter than those around it. Dogs allowed all year round.

Lovely little bay and usually much quieter than the bigger beach around the coast at Barry. Nice and sandy and a lovely place for swimming, paddleboarding etc . Toilets and water available with limited parking bays up a short steep pathway.

Stunning part of the beach in Barry, steep descent going down and a workout walking back up, but beautiful, great for wild swimmers

Visited here on a Wednesday in late October. Hardly anyone here. It is a fairly steep slope but worth the walk. The beach is lovely and sandy. Our dogs loved It and we were able to let our puppy off the lead. The public toilets are closed at this time of year.

We loved it there my boys got in the water and there wasn't many people there which was nice .the only thing I will say is there isn't any bins so we took the rubbish allway back to the town .

Always a great place to go, whether it's part of your walk or to sit and watch the world go by. Quiet well protected from wind due to it being protected on 3 sides

Beautiful place. The power of Nature, Sea, Bay, etc. I went on my own and felt empowering being close to honest nature.

First time visit here today. Such a lovely beach. Not massive but big enough for the dog to have a good run around. Will definitely be back.

Barry's 'secret' beach. Soft golden sandy bay backed by high cliffs. Lovely spot for a sunrise swim. Generally fairly sheltered. Sunsets behind the cliff, so evening sun is limited. No life guards here, so take care if swimming as there can be strong currents.

This is a beach mostly frequented by locals. Access via a steep path from Redbrink Crescent. There's a toilet block on the breakwater side, but no refreshment facilities. The sand shelves quite steeply so that once you're in the water it's not far before you're in up to your shoulders, well I am anyway. It's a very popular beach with paddleboarders, kayakers and wild swimmers, and is one of the few beaches in the area that welcomes dogs all year round. The beach tends to be quite muddy when the tide is out, and crowded at high tide, whatever time of day. There are rocks on either side and on Nells Point the footpath (Clements Colley Walk) provides the only wheelchair-accessible route to the beach, from Whitmore Bay and the car park.

Lovely beach, dog friendly, enjoyed swimming there this last few days when the tide was in. Very clean and litter free thanks to locals who've been litter picking. Shame there's a need for them to do it but admirable that they do!

One of our favourite beaches to go to. Dog friendly all year round, which we love, and is always kept clean and tidy. Generally locals who use this beach. Paddle boards are also welcome there which is a plus. The beach can get quite sludgy when the tide is out, but overall a lovely beach to visit. A steep hill going down, and a big hill to climb at the end of the day, but totally worth it. If you are a wheelchair user I would probably say that it's not best suited, and to avoid.

Great small beach. Never busy and its great for walking the dogs There's a nice walk from Barry Island along the coastal path to this bay. Amazing sunsets from the path in the evening.

Check the tide times if you're going in the water. Apart from that beach is clean and not at all busy.

  • 5/5 Jon F. 2 years ago on Google
Lovely spot, not at all crowded and dog friendly. Water was shallow and calm so perfect for the kids to swim in. There is an outside shower and public toilets near the Yacht club. Didn't find anywhere nearby to get treats except for a local convenience.

Lovely little bay area to let the dog off, nice views. Toilets and everything else were shut which was a shame for a Saturday afternoon but it's out of season so I guess they don't bother.
