I have a Sulphate allergy and find it incredibly difficult to eat out. Having eaten here a few times now, I definitely recommend it. It's so nice to be able to relax and enjoy a meal thanks to a knowledgeable and caring chef! The prices are reasonable, the atmosphere relaxed and the decor stylish.

I was just looking for a bite to eat on a Sunday evening and came across The George Inn. Their kitchen was only open for another 10 minutes (closes at 7 on a Sunday) so I quickly ordered the roast chicken. I might have been hungry but it was lovely. The chicken was tasty and the veg that went with it was good as well. Even the Yorkshire pudding was nice a crispy (but not too crispy just right. Nice relaxed atmosphere and I even enjoyed some of the back ground music and had to stop my self from singing along. A nice way to finish off a rather tiring hot Sunday in August in Barton.

Lovely pub with pool table, decent ales and chilled atmosphere, the awards speak for themselves keep up the excellent work. Food area is gorgeous, gets very very busy. I've stayed here too, very comfortable and popular with bikers and other groups.

Great place for a beer. Plenty of seating, great pool able in the bar bit out of the way. Beer is always good and and a good selection and alwaysservice with a smile. Very busy with food and good selection of grub. They also do a stall at Barton Market once a month and the pork pies are to die for. Always a great selection of pies etc and always great service.

I ordered a plain burger, without anything on it ,sauce or whatever. Drier than sand.Who cooks that meat?Asked for coleslaw on the side, they probably lost it on the way.Had a reservation, the slim guy at the bar was like i don't have a table for you.Just stay by the door here where i haven't clean the table at all.Lousy.Good thing people come to get drunk and don't notice the awful food

Excellent pub to stop for lunch with a wide range of modern cuisine options at old fashioned prices. Service was friendly and professional. Great choice!

Visited on Sunday 5th February for Sunday lunch. Very decent prices of Β£12.50 for a Sunday lunch main and the food quality was good too. The service was friendly, but there were a huge amount of staff for the venue and so lots of standing around. Had the 'Stuffed chicken with sausage meat stuffing and chicken gravy, which came with all the trimmings'. Shared a 'Sticky toffee pudding and custard' as a dessert, but it wasn't as good as the main. Would definitely recommend when in the area.

We shared a delicious meal with friends on Friday evening. The staff were very welcoming and the icing on the cake was the dog menu so our four legged friend could eat his meal at the same time as ours. He loved the sausage, mash and gravy and joined the clean plate club. Best of all, 10% of the price of a dog meal go to a selection of dog charities. Certainly recommend this lovely pub.

Went for Sunday lunch, which was one of the nicest ones I've had in a long time. Had rhubarb crumble for desert, and it was absolutely amazing!!! Will definitely go again. This pub is dog friendly and has a doggy menu, if your dog needs feeding.

Had an overnight stay to meet up with some friends. On arrival staff were very friendly. Was shown to our room on arrival and was very impressed with the room considering the price we paid. Had a lite bite to eat in the afternoon and the food was delicious. Drinks also very reasonable. Breakfast was very good, with a nice selection to choose from and everything was cooked to order. Will definitely be returning again.

Came here for a family Sunday lunch and had an amazing dining experience. The thing that really stood out was how well trained the staff were. Overall, the service was excellent. We were a group of 6 adults and 4 children, and despite this, our drinks and food came out quickly and at the same time, and we felt really well looked after. The decor is lovely but the state of the toilets were surprising for a lovely pub like this. They are rather dated and could do with a refurb to match the rest of the pub. The George Inn is dog and child friendly (they even have a menu for dogs). The food was all presented really well, and the roasts came with a shared vegetable dish (mix of broccoli, red cabbage, greens and carrots), a small bowl of cauliflower cheese and a small pot of extra gravy (much appreciated!) Everyone enjoyed their food and there was enough choices on the menu to accommodate our group's various dietary requirements (Veg, GF, picky kids). Would recommend the slow roast pork belly, coconut prawn starter, and the guiness choc cake! The ice creams were also a highlight. Food was well priced, especially when opting for 3 courses. Good selection of drinks, too. We will certainly visit again. Thanks again to the George team!

Every time I come to Barton this is where I stay, not all the rooms have been updated yet, but the ones that have are amazing. Really friendly staff and great food, especially the breakfast

Nice decor and friendly staff. Bed very comfy but was too hot in the room. Also had trouble with the shower as was difficult to turn on and off. Was also noisy at night with people outside chatting etc until the early hours. Avocado and poached eggs on toast was lovely. Eggs were cooked perfectly. Wish there was a choice of bacon as they only do the hard crispy rashers.

No heating on when it was 5 degrees celsius, we asked the staff to turn it on which they did, only to come back to the room and it was freezing again. No water in the shower, only in the tiny washing basin. Manager kept ignoring us. Extremely old building needing serious repairs, maintenance in general. Continental breakfast is poor. The traffic in the main road does not stop and the noise comes through the walls. No sleeping possible

Had Christmas dinner there today, and I struggled to find the turkey in my turkey meal. On the plus side the dessert was amazing, and very generous portion. The wheelchair access needs addressing as it's very tight and uneven surface, and also hand sanitizer in the way to get through the door. The staff were very polite and helpful, but did seem to be understaffed at times. Overall it was an average outing, and I won't be returning.

Only went for food. So can’t comment about other things. Really enjoyed the meal. Felt service was a bit disjointed. While staff were lovely there was no direction. Got meals before cutlery and silly things like that. Told we were too late for a dessert after eating the mains and then asked by another girl if we wanted a dessert. Had a fabulous pork chop. Dessert was lovely as well. Heard they’d lost two key staff so perhaps that was why service wasn’t on par with the food. Will definitely go back. Food was so good anything else was forgiven.

Very nice and cosy pub! The food is delicious, but very small in portion. The prices look good, but you are eating like you are on a diet. The quiz although fun, it takes forever (has 40 questions).

What a gem of a place! My boyfriend and I, and our cockapoo spent the night here after a ferry crossing to Hull, and we were very impressed by the cosy pub, and the free parking. The staff were very busy in the run up to Christmas - there was no room for dinner but to be fair that was our fault, as we didn't make a reservation - but they took the time to show us our room upstairs with a smile. The room was cute, warm, nicely decorated and the bed was super comfy, what more do you need? Breakfast was delicious. The chef even asked how I wanted my egg in my sausage bap, and asked if our dog would like a cooked breakfast. Nice touch! Then we discovered The George Inn was featured on the channel 4 show 'Four in a Bed'. We would definitely book this treasure again if we spend another night near Hull.

Didn't stay at the hotel, but visited with friends for a Christmas lunch. Service was very slow, serving veg after meat meant that the meat was cold by the time the veg arrived. Veg was very hard and ready coated in seasoning. Servings were far from generous.

Really lovely room. Super king size bed. Beautifully clean and nice to have a coffee machine and fridge, as well as the usual kettle etc. We booked dinner in the restaurant and the food was gorgeous and very well presented. Breakfast was delicious too. Very attentive and professional staff. Excellent value.

Father's day Sunday lunch. Try and pop in here at least once a month for lunch whilst the kids are at school and always left wanting more. Great vegetarian/vegan options. Recently visited and devoured the garlic mushrooms and then jackfruit street tacos. Mouth wateringly good. Really friendly place and if I'm not with husband on a cheeky lunch date I'm with the kids and it is always warm and welcoming. 6 of us visited today for father's day and enjoyed 3courses each. Vegetarian sausages available without a fuss and was delightful as ever. Suprise blue cheese leaks were devoured and these full time side dish on your main menu. I think you are now my Dad's favourite place to visit when he comes from Hull and without knowing it you are helping us create long lasting happy memories for my kids. Best place in Barton! Xxx

Absolutely fantastic food. My husband had the pork chop which he was raving about for some time after. I decided to have the option of three starters with chips.... all were delicious but there was far too much food for me!!! Eyes greedier than belly!! A few nights later, we went in on spec hoping for a table. The place was buzzing as it was a Friday night, but the lovely young man on the bar managed to find us a table where we indulged in the best fish and chips I've had in YEARS! All washed down with a couple of pints of Black Sheep, and the fish and chips were on 2 for 1!!! Highly recommend this pub. Great staff, fabulous food and an excellent choice of beers.

Good food and beer. Staff were attentive. Place was warm and welcoming. Small car park had one parking space blocked by rubbish. Cost me 5 mins as I went in hopeful but had to turn around and find a parking space elsewhere. Otherwise would have been 5 stars.

Absolutely outstanding, best sunday 3 course lunch we have had. My son fell to sleep before the meal and the staff were happy to pop it in a takeaway container for us. The food was 5 star, the starters 1x creamy mushrooms with crispy turnip and salad was out this world. The black pudding truffles, they have been made with love. Everything about the was amazing. The staff was perfect and very attentive. I'd be very proud if I had the staff you have.

We booked a table for dinner this evening (which is advisable) and wasn't disappointed. We'd never been before but was recommended by a friend who lives local. What a lovely pub, tastefully decorated and comfortably furnished and the bonus for us was that it's dog friendly. The staff were very friendly and the service was spot on. The food was delicious, my husband had the mixed grill and he said it was excellent, the steak especially was the best he'd had in a long while. Puddings too were to die for, it's definitely well worth treating yourself. Our dog also had her own dinner too as they have a doggy menu, perfect all round. We'll be back again soon πŸ‘
