Stayed here at the weekend for our wedding anniversary as they are dog friendly which meant we could bring ours with us. Staff were so friendly and accommodating with any requests. Our room was great and came kitted out with dog accessories. Really nice dining room and bar area too. The thing I do want to highlight though is the breakfast. Both hot breakfasts that we had were exceptional. The meat products (sausage in particular) in the full English were delicious and it was genuinely one of the best "fry ups" I've ever had. My wife had the eggs benedict with smoked salmon and the Hollandaise sauce was excellent. I've already recommended breakfast here to friends who live nearby. If you have the opportunity to visit for breakfast here then do it, You won't be disappointed. We will definitely be back and next time we will make sure we have lunch / dinner there as we sadly couldn't this time as we had other plans. 5 Stars

Had lunch today 26/09/2021 with another family. The wait staff are really nice, and the menu is, while on the expensive side, quite attractive. It's just a shame the kitchen staff let the rest of their team down today. Most of our starters were acceptable, however the mains were not. I had a mushroom pie, and it was okay. The other 4 roast dinners that were ordered came to the table lukewarm at best. We asked for warmer food and the meals that were brought out the second time were hotter, but they weren't of a food safe temperature (which is a minimum of 63° Celsius or 145° Fahrenheit) and it was easy to tell that the food wasn't hot enough. When it came time to order dessert two of the group had enough, but the other three ordered the warm apple brownie with ice cream. No surprises the brownie arrived barely warmed. One in our group had enough and spoke to the staff, who eventually conceded and eventually comped some of the meals on our bill.

Fantastic hotel, check-in was easy and even had my bag carried to the room. Plenty of parking. Room was a good size with tea and coffee, there was a bath and separate shower. The shower was powerful but the drainage of the water was way too slow and had to stand in water which was nearly overflowing the shower area onto the bathroom floor. The breakfast was amazing with lots of choice and good quality products. There is a great coffee machine with an option to have a coffee to go. Evening meal was also of good quality and tasty, however the the choice of wine by the glass was limited. Overall a lovely stay and would definitely return.

It's a lovely place. Modest decor and kind staff. Nice vibe, plenty of parking. I would come again but I wouldn't order the flat iron steak. It was full of gristle and difficult to cut. I asked for it to be taken off the bill, as I left half of it, due to not being able to eat it.. I even offered to pay for just half as I felt that was reasonable.. instead they gave us a free cheese cake. I would rather have paid the £6 for the cheese cake then £22 for the worse steak I've eaten in a long time. Steak aside the staff was lovely and the menu looks nice. The starters was delicious and so was desert.

I have eaten in your place before and enjoyed thoroughly. Recommended to some very good friends who popped in today around 5.30. Very quiet yet they were told no tables were available for them. Then they were told they could eat in the bar and yet again he looked round at the empty tables that he wasn't allowed to sit at. Dare I say because they were black??? It's 2022 people. Management if you read these please take action!!! I don't know who it was ,I'm sure you can find out......

Best lunch ever. Stopped by mistake on a Sunday afternoon. Asked if they have a table available and stayed for lunch. Oh, what a great choice. Best Sunday roast I ever had and reasonable priced. Just great

We have driven past this pub for years on our way to see friends and have always said we would go for a meal one day. I didn't disappoint and well worth the 1 and half drive. The food was delicious and the staff were very professional and friendly. Certainly would return for another Sunday roast one day.

I can't rate the rooms as we just stopped for food and a bathroom break after being stuck in traffic for 1,5 hrs. Apart from my friend's Jamaican chicken burger, this is hands down, the best chicken burger I've ever eaten. The chicken melted in your mouth and the seasoning was spot on. Amazing and very good price too!!!

Had our office Christmas lunch here. The food was superb and the building is amazing. It's in a beautiful countryside location with loads of seating inside. Great range of beers and the staff were very friendly. The only issue I had was the veg and potatoes served would be too much for 1 but nowhere near enough for 3! Plus our gravy came 5-10 minutes after the food. To be clear it's the first a la carte Christmas dinner I've had and it was very tasty. But Christmas Dinner tends to be a more voluminous event. Can't comment on the rooms as we didn't stay there but it looks very nice.

We came for breakfast which was great, the dining room is quite special with period decor, warm, spacious and comfortable. Eva our hostess was very hospitable, ensuring we had a lovely experience. Will definitely return!

A lovely visit back to the place we held our wedding reception 15 years ago! The place has had a lot of changes in 25 years and we still love it! Staff are very attentive and food is delicious. Special thanks to Eva for being so helpful.

My family and I enjoyed an excellent breakfast with a fabulous choice of food which catered for all. Big thanks to Eva - very friendly and super efficient, nothing was too much trouble for her. The restaurant was clean and smart but keeping it's cosy appeal in line with rest of the hotel. We are looking forward to booking an evening meal before Christmas.

I was at the wellington arms yesterday for a wedding barbecue. Lovely venue with friendly and helpful staff, I had a great time talking with a waiter called Steph who had a great knowledge of the area and was super attentive! Would love to come again.

Tasty food, slightly chaotic, but friendly service. Kids menus are good and effort to make the kids feel like guests, rather than a sideline to the parents. I’d give it 4 stars for all of the above - but 3 stars due to the price - it’s expensive, and not quite good value for money. Our meal was £140 for a family of 4, with 2 courses, drinks and 1 pudding. £22/23 for roast beef, served on a cold plate, so the food didn’t stay hot. We enjoyed it - just a touch expensive. Funnily enough, the kids give it 7 out 10 - but they weren’t paying!

Went here on an overnight stay for nearby work. What a gem of a find. Room was perfect and being attached to a pub meant no hunting for a reasonably priced meal. The food was also exceptional. I had olives to start followed by a Fisherman's pie which was to die for. Will definitely be back next time I am in the area

We spent a few nights here because it was near a wedding we were attending. We really enjoyed our stay. Great food at breakfast and evening, a good bar, and really friendly and hard working staff, who went out of their way to make it visit enjoyable. Many thanks to all the staff who made it visit so good

When food was served, waitress wasn't sure which burger was which. I ordered bacon jam on mine, either it wasn't put on or someone else had it. We were asked if we had any allergies, yes, but only the starter was given to me specifically stating for allergy customer. My triple cooked beef dripping chips with rosemary and thyme salt, were nothing special, no salt on them and dry. I'm wondering if the main chef was looking after the wedding that was taking place 🤷🏼‍♀️ Having said all that the place is lovely, staff lovely £95 for 4 x 1 course 2 x sharer nibbles, 2 lagers. So not expensive, but won't be returning as we won't be in the area again.

I stay in hotels every week and this place is brilliant. I would choose it over one of the big conglomerates every day. Rooms were great. Breakfasts cooked to order. Food in the resturant was far far superior to most hotels. The service was fab. I highly recommend it.

Despite the beautiful interior and outside garden, unfortunately I won’t be back here again. And I certainly won’t be recommending this place to anyone either. The food was absolutely terrible. The menu sounds amazing and so many promising things on offer but in reality, the food doesn’t reflect this. I ordered the crispy buttermilk chicken waffle. Almost all of the ingredients were missing - no bacon, no nduja ketchup, or maple syrup - and the waffle was rock hard. I couldn’t even cut into it. Unfortunately had to send it back as it wasn’t edible. My friend ordered the “pancake stack” which came as a few pancakes laid out side by side and absolutely swimming in sauces. One being a super cheap, artificial like strawberry sauce. Again, didn’t reflect anything close to what was on the menu. She couldn’t eat it. We ended up going for a safe option of plain chips in the end. I hadn’t eaten all morning to save myself for what I thought would be a delicious meal. I’ve never felt so disappointed whilst out for food. We planned our afternoon around this and ended up leaving deflated. For anyone planning to go, I would steer clear of the food and opt for drinks only. Otherwise go elsewhere where you’ll get your money’s worth. Lots of other lovely places close by instead.

I attended a friend’s wedding here and both the venue and their staff were brilliant. Really helpful and friendly, you could tell that they wanted to day to go well and for everyone to have a good time. The decor and facilities were a really lovely and the food was delicious. I would come back here again, not just for an event but also just for lunch or dinner!

Meal with friends, we didn't stay at the hotel. The food was very poor indeed. Ordered a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, but made the mistake of not looking at a wine list as there wasn't one given. I did not expect the price to be £40 and think the waitress should have checked that the price was ok before letting us order 2 bottles!. 3 people I was with, who ordered the same meal, couldn't eat it as it was so awful. Have had nice meals here before, but this time was not good.

The Food is very good, service very sub par. Serving staff, took 15 minutes to clear our table after we finished eating. By that time we decided we didn’t want to wait any longer to order dessert and left.

We got married at The Wellington Arms on 31st of March and the whole day was perfect! We stayed at the venue the night before and the night of the wedding, the rooms were lovely and all the staff were so helpful. We ate in the restaurant the night before the wedding and were so impressed with the food, it was exceptional. The wedding breakfast was also delicious and we have had some many compliments about it. We would like to mention Lindsay and Charlotte for helping the day run smoothly, they are both so helpful and kind and really went out of their way to make everything perfect for us. So thank you to both :) Additionally, all the staff were really accommodating for my Mum who has additional care needs.

After doing a great Wedding Disco at The Wellington Arms, Stratfield Turgis on the 4th November, I thought it would be a lovely venue to take my wife for a Birthday Meal We are so glad we choose The Wellington Arms as the venue. It really is such a lovely setting, the staff are so welcoming (we was served by Josh who was so lovely and really looked after us) and the food, well what can I say other than utterly delicious. We went for the 2 course Festive Menu, both deciding on the Turkey followed by Cherry Trifle 😋 We are now looking forward to going back and having a post Christmas Suppliers Meal with friends in January Highly recommend it if you are looking for somewhere that does very tasty locally sourced seasoned food.

Very special wedding venue, made even more special by the staff! We booked the Wellington Arms for our wedding because it is a more intimate and unique venue, that it is also very pretty and picturesque. The perfect combination we were looking for! BUT, what actually made our wedding so special was the staff!!! We honestly cannot thank Lindsay, Reka, Max and the whole team enough for the exceptional service they provided. From the moment we arrived at the venue the day prior to our wedding, to the day after when we checked out, all the staff were highly attentive and genuinely could not do enough for us. Every single one of the team helped to ensure the day ran smoothly and nothing was ever to much trouble. Thank you so much Wellington team for going above and beyond to ensure our wedding day was as special as possible!

Ate here recently for breakfast with friends (our friends have dined here many times over the years but not in a while) and afterwards we all agreed we won’t be going back. Welcome by manager was cold and off putting, no music/atmosphere. You’d get better presented and tasting food in a ‘Spoons- no care, burnt bits, overcooked eggs like rubber. Waitress’ attitude was far more welcoming (although didn’t even know what item was on menu when requested) but it was mostly the manager who served us. Barista served lovely presented hot drinks - but were “sold out” of some choices (on a Saturday morning?) and communication between team members very poor. We don’t eat out very often and we were looking forward to it- so hugely disappointing. Beautiful building though.

Had a lovely Saturday brunch here for my birthday. Service was super friendly, food was delicious, and price is fair for the quality. Parking is a bit rough, the car parks were completely full with the restaurant only half full. I assume that's due to people staying at the hotel, but it could leave you struggling to park.

Disappointed by poor and slow service. We booked for a Sunday lunch 3 weeks in advance, but we were disappointed to be given a bar table instead of in the restaurant. Waited 25 minutes for our drinks order to be taken. Waited then another 20 minutes for drinks (just 2 pints and bottle of wine). When they came, they brought the wrong bottle of wine. Took quite some time for them to come back to take our food order. Main roasts then took 40 mins from ordering. When it came we were given 4 small potato’s in a side dish for 4 people, so had to ask for more. Asked for mustard which never came. Had to ask for more gravy too (one small boat for 4 people). No one came to check if everything was ok. Had to ask for plates to be cleared when finished (as they’d sat there for half a hour). Then only half were cleared. 20 mins later had to ask for other half to be cleared. Waited and waited and we weren’t given pudding menus or asked if we wanted to order anything else (which we would have done). Had to go to bar to order more drinks. Paid bill, but wasn’t given itemised bill, just given card reader. Asked to check bill and it was wrong (4 drinks we didn’t have on there). Overall shame, food was nice but we travelled quite some distance to come here and was really let down by the service so wouldn’t recommend. We let them know this, but they still charged £15 service charge on top of bill, and we wish we hadn’t paid this really/ feel it should have been taken off following our feedback.

A beautiful hotel. We attended a wedding which was set out beautifully and lovely views. The rooms we big and the bed was one of the best we have slept in! The bathroom was large and luxurious. I rated four stars as the room did not have air conditioning which wasn't ideal on a warm summer evening but overall we really enjoyed our stay.

Fantastic overnight stay! Gorgeous hotel, very clean and the room was well equipped (Nespresso machine instead of instant coffee - bliss!). Comfy bed and huge bathroom with lovely shower. Evening meal in the restaurant was great, pub food done very well. Service was excellent, lovely cocktails too! Breakfast was also fantastic, such a huge portion I couldn't finish it all. A really lovely stay worth every bit of the £90 it cost for the 2 of us for a mid-week stay. Will definitely be returning!

My wife and I have been to the hotel several times since it’s refurbishment. We went out for dinner a few times and have also spent the night in one of the rooms there. The atmosphere is fantastic and the decor is very welcoming. The food is fresh and delicious, really cannot find fault in it at all. The room we stayed in was clean, comfortable and well presented. Above all this, the staff are friendly and helpful. We stopped there for lunch this afternoon and Taylor, who served our table was excellent. He was friendly, polite and very professional. We will be going back again soon and we highly recommend visiting the Wellington.

We came back after many years. It’s changed a lot but it was beautifully decorated inside and the service was excellent. The food was nice, not amazing as we remember it, but enjoyable. We had a lovely time and glad we decided to come back.

Absolutely lovely food, good beer and friendly service. Only four stars though as there seemed to be no covid protection, no table service so queueing at bar with no screen, no face masks worn by staff. Just like the old days, but not ideal with current situation.

Food is well presented however lacks any real taste, the gravy is watered down, the Yorkshire puddings need a touch more salt in the mixture before baking, the roast potatoes which are supposedly cooked in goose fat lack any kind of crunch, the beef burger is highly overpriced for the actual size of the patty compared with the size of the bun, the menu is very limited and caters to a certain taste rather than appealing to a wider demographic by including gourmet versions of pub classics with a twist and maybe try adding some more flavour to the dishes use things like chorizo, cayenne pepper, bell peppers, chilli flakes, star anise and maybe try to add some more creative items to the dessert menu. This place has so much untapped potential it's a shame that this location is so well presented the venue itself is very pleasing to the eye and the presentation of the food is correct for the setting but they do need to try and appeal to a wider demographic both through flavour and choice. As for their selection of alcohol I think they have a rather nice selection of drinks available however I would like to see some more creative drinks such as cocktails (an aviation cocktail would really suit this venue as a signature drink) some top shelf whiskeys would be nice too like 18 year aged single malts and a bit more of a selection of high end spirits would be nice. Another way this place could improve is the atmosphere they should play some music on speakers at a low volume in the main dining area and set some mood lighting around the dining area to add to that customer experience you could even use an atomiser with some essential oils to release nice soothing scents in a steam that slowly wafts around the room and is hardly visible or intrusive and again can be used to relax customers leading to a much more satisfying customer experience meaning a higher footfall due to word of mouth and publicity via social media platforms ending in a higher revenue stream, if you treat every customer like a v.i.p. and treat them all like they're celebrities even if they've only spent £15.50 on a burger and chips if a customer is treated like a v.i.p. they will tell their friends and again it just adds to that customer experience. A note for the staff, I understand the hospitality industry is a difficult one and I know how difficult it can be to work in that industry I am a security officer I just want to say that the customer service from you all was good it just didn't feel genuine or like it came from someone who truly loves their job but it wasn't bad by any means Thank-you for all trying your best though.

There are plenty of places to get a Sunday roast these days but in my experience the roast at the Wellington Arms is the best. Two of us had the pork which was lovely (don't forget to ask for the apple sauce!) and one of us had the beef sirloin which was also very good. A bit more expensive than a standard rub lunch but worth every penny. The staff are also excellent.

We had our wedding at The Wellington Arms back in March and the venue was amazing. The team were great and could not do enough for us or our guests. The food was delicious with the duck croquettes starter a favourite from our guests. The rooms were all clean, modern and very comfortable. We could not fault anything and had the best day!

Having just spent two days staying here for a friend’s wedding, I can honestly say we’ve had the best time, fantastic garden, great food, very nice rooms and the staff were absolutely fabulous; so helpful, friendly and polite, nothing was too much trouble. Had some great food here, the sharing of pork scratchings and cauliflower was great. The lamb for main was perfectly cooked… and the sticky toffee pudding with banana ice cream was different but perfect! And if you have an Electric Car there is even a charing port! Perfect all round foe dinner!

Stayed the night for our son's wedding. Our room was clean and comfortable with all the facilities you could want. The bathroom was nearly as big as the main room and we had a nice view across adjoining fields. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and the meal we had was very good.

Really disappointed tonight. Table of 2, food was really slow, table next to us had starter and mains before us and yet arrived after us. Ordered the rib eye steak, medium rare, arrived an hour later, medium well. Ordered a single scoop of ice cream for dessert, had to cancel 20 minutes later as it was getting ridiculous staring into space. For what it’s worth, the chicken n’duja comes recommended.

Good food; unimpressive service. I booked here on 4 September for a nice Sunday lunch (12:30 booking). When we arrived, it was fairly quiet in the dining room, and we were seated quickly. That's where things fell apart. After a few minutes, we ordered our drinks; these came in good time. It took a few looks at the waitstaff (some of whom were chatting to each other at the bar) to get someone to take our food orders. Once our orders were in, it was as if the restaurant had forgotten about us completely. We needed to be out of the restaurant before 2pm in order to make another appointment. 90mins should surely be enough time to cook and eat a meal. Our orders (placed at around 12:45) didn't reach our table until 1:40pm. During this time, the staff were chatting away and we had to go out of our way to get their attention and inquire about our food. This didn't really speed things up much. We were beginning to wonder if the kitchen had decided to close...after our food showed up, I asked to pay the bill right away so that we could leave quickly in order to make our appointment; when I asked for the bill, the waiter's response was 'why not wait to pay? Relax and enjoy your meal!' I stressed again that we were on a tight timeframe and then he proved the card machine. The food itself was very nice. I (and my partner) had the steak pie, which was delicious. The kitchen even accommodated our request to substitute chips. The fish and chips was also a big hit. The duck was asked for without the pureed carrots; unfortunately, carrots were clearly on the plate when it arrived. The atmosphere was very nice and it was a place where I would consider going again, but not if I had any plans for the day. Service needs some work in order to warrant a higher rating.

A very attractive pub with very pleasant staff, unfortunately the food wasn't much to shout about. We ordered two roasts which both arrived lukewarm, one was returned a reheated, I assume they cook all the food early on and leave them on a hot plate until an order is placed. I would visit again but not to eat, some nicer pubs locally with better food and prices.

Lovely looking building from the outside. Plenty of parking. I attended a wedding there. Inside the bar restaurant was lovely as well. Nicely decorated. The menu is also quite nice. Food service prior to the wedding was a tad slow, but it was cooked well. Our room was lovely. Nice big comfy bed, all clean and tidy. Lovely big walk in shower. Plenty of room. And the view from our window was beautiful. I would co e hear again to eat and sleep.

First the good news food was great, staff friendly but honestly the service is all over the place. Served the 4 adults their main courses then 5 year old child waited 10 minutes for his food. Serve the child first or we have to sit and watch food get cold Constantly had to chase side orders to the point of going over to the bar. Same with coffees ( have you forgotten us again?). Finally bill arrives 10 minute wait to pay back to the bar as hadn't occurred that he should bring card machine to us. Staff very nice and apologetic but perhaps just have one person serving us and they can keep on top of it? Again roast dinner very good.

Wellington arms is our local pub and never disappoints! The food is outstanding and their Sunday roast is epic! Lookout for specials like beef Wellington and lobster which are also delicious. Great variety of cocktails, lovely brunch dishes it’s perfect for any occasion. Staff are warm and friendly, in particular Eva who is our favourite :) the pub is cosy, relaxing and dog friendly which is a great bonus. It’s a true gem!
