As a historical restaurant, service and food were average. BUT! I CAN’T BELIEVE THAT FOOD WAS NOT SUPPLIED AS MENU. I ordered the fish and crabs. But it came with shrimps. The female staff said “ IT’S THE SAME “. HALLO ~~ I HAVE TO TELL YOU THAT CRABS ARE CRABS AND SHRIMPS ARE SHRIMPS! THEY ARE TOTALLY DIFFERENT! OKAY?!

I really liked the place and the vibe. The place is very fancy but cozy. High quality food and drinks. I will recommend you to make a booking otherwise low chances to get a table. We were a big group and we got the food quite fast. The waiter was a bit rude a couple of times but ... what can we do 🤦‍♀️ Loads of food and drinks options .... had an delicious sweet patatoes burger and some local beer.

Bremen, AltStadt, Der Ratskeller. Magical Old Town Der Ratskeller is a Restaurant with an amazing history and a very decent reputation! Dating back 600 years, and the building recognised under UNESCO Heritage it’s truly a splendid affair. This century old location with a truly inspiring Wine Cellar, serves up very traditional North German Cuisine! Walking down the stairs, into the dining area, is like entering the Catacombs, lined with massive Wine Barrels, it’s a trip back into time. The Menu: One dish that was a die die must try was “BREMER KNIPP“ no joke, it’s basically ground grits with pork meat, and various other ingredients, served with the best home fried potatoes on this trip (Brat Kartoffeln) I thoroughly enjoyed this classic! Further on the Menu, another northern speciality “Grünkohl mit Pinkel” Green leafy cabbage braised with Meaty Sausage and smoked pork neck (Kassler) However due to the Humongous Portion Size, I had to ask the restaurant to pack it up, so I could enjoy it in the comfort of our home! Paired with a decent Beer, Bubbles for the lady! It was a wonderful way to spend a Sunday Lunch. A special location with a touch of history! Worth it all the way! #germany #traveladventures #drivingholidays #bremen #magicalbremen #bremenaltstadt #bremenoldtown #ratskeller

I highly recommend. It's right in the city center. Very interesting restaurant with amazing ambience, good food and wine and very nice staff.

I stopped for lunch and was really satisfied! The service is quick and everyone was really nice. I got the Spigeleier and it was one of the best I've ever had. I was also temped by the dessert list but I was too full :) (looks small in the picture but it was definitely not!) Prices are good considering it's right in the central square.

[Nov. 2021] The location is perfect at the heart of the old city, and the atmosphere and decor are superb. Food is ok, service is very nice. [Nov. 2022] What happened? The menu has been completely changed and prices have doubled! It's still good, but less typical and more upscale. The portions are too huge... why not reducing size and price to come back to the reasonable place it was?

This is not just a bad review, but a warning. Lots of nice places to eat in Bremen, but this is certainly not one of them. Easily one if the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had. Bland taste and bad service in an otherwise very nice setting. We had to leave our food on the plate, pay full price, and find another place to eat. Very strongly recommended you find an other place for your evening.

Really cool place, there were many people just coming down to have a look and take pictures. Its location is super convenient as it's by the town hall in the city centre. It was also a bit late when we arrived to Bremen and they don't close midday, so we could have lunch while exploring even though it was a bit of a late one. Food was good and filling. Not super cheap, but it's reasonable considering its location.

The restaurant has outstanding corners where you can enjoy your meal with as much intimacy as you need with big groups or with smaller quantity of people. Good quantity and quality of food. The staff is nice, they can talk several languages and they are attempting. But the service, it is something that should be improved... Something that bothered me was that, after my plate was removed from the table, no waiter asked if I wanted something else after my lunch. I had to call a waiter to ask for a coffee, and I waited about 20 minutes until the coffee came. After that, I asked for the bill and the waiter came pointing out that the tip was not included...really?after waiting for more than half an hour for a coffee, I was really atonished they were expecting for a tip...unbelievable...That's why I did not give the last star in this review. Whatever, if tip is required, a tip to the managers...please, let the customers know before visiting your restaurant, it will be appreciated.

Only manko: not wheelchair accessible We were there with a group of 20 on a Thursday for lunch. We had pre-ordered a two dish meal and it was just perfect. The food was delicious, the service very friendly and could even swap one meal for a Vegetarian on short notice. The atmosphere with the history around it in contrast to the new waiter robots which support the human waiters is special and I would definitely recommend to come here. Suited for large groups: please, pre order... And very suited for wine-lovers...

We had lunch at this restaurant in June. The atmosphere downstairs is really cute and full of old and typical elements. We ate inside what looked like a huge barrel :-) Naturally you can also have a more normal table. The food was typical and not too expensive for such central place. We were satisfied at the end. The service was also fairly quick.

The food was amazing! The service was good from the man who took orders from us. But the others were kind of lost or were looking that they wanted even to be home. I'm also wad working in a Restaurant, and I knowing that could be a though day. But every time we leave the kitchen, take a smile!! This is just a small piece of advice 😉 but I'm sure I will come again

Reasonably priced, delicious German food in central area with inviting ambiance and English translations of all dishes. Had a cellar snack to start (basically three dips with fresh bread) and then a deer ragout.

Really nice atmosphere and amazing food. I had a turkey steak with vegetables and even such a bland food was dreamy. I had a chicken soup as a starter which tasted as a standard chicken soup. After the recommendation of the waitress, I had an elbling wine from mosel which was a new discovery for me and really easy to drink. I would definitely recommend and go back.

Great location and wonderful seating area outside in the center of town, and also an amazing historic restaurants below City Hall where you can dine in the AC is delightful. My major problem and I am talking two stars for this is customer service. Incredibly slow service, it took 3 hours to eat and every single time we had to flag the waiter down and ask for help. If you were looking for a quick service, please look elsewhere.

Cannot get more traditional, booking in advance on OpenTable is a must as this place is always popular and great atmosphere. Simple, tasty, authentic food. A must visit! Excellent Knipp, my favourite, went perfectly with a cold Becks. Staff are happy to help and welcoming to non-German speakers. Will always visit when in town!

The place was nice and the service was great. The food, although great, wasn't what we expected. But this one is on us. Maybe next time we will order something closer to home, as the soup was really nice and savory.

Excellent food, cool beer, historic atmosphere and great service. Must see! Try the ‘Knipp’ or ‘Labskaus’!

We wanted to go here after hearing about it. However, once we arrived we decided not to stay. This place has so much potential but for the prices they are charging and the reputation of a historical spot they are trying to advertise with, this place doesn't seem to put in the effort of making it nice. No cloth table cloths and the tables are put together in long sections so you feel like you are at a cafeteria not an upscale restaurant. Too bad!

Had a very good lunch here today. Friendly service. The fried potatoes with eggs were delicious and plentiful. Nice break from the Market crowd.

The service was good. We didn’t need to wait for so long to be seated and served. However, the food was not that good... I was excited to try to local food. But seems like the Labskaus was not our taste (I don’t know if that’s the matter of the food or the restaurant itself). Or you could try to have an unique experience 🤨 All in all, trust your gut feeling when choosing a restaurant 😅 the reviews on the internet might not be that helpful.

Nice place! I strongly recommend the pumpkin cream and its wines.

Very touristy place in the very city center, it was a bit disappointing. The beer was good and the wine selection was also quite impressive, to say the least. However, the food was not up to the standards of the place. The soup came in very small portions, the cheese was served too cold and the bread was stale. There are better places in town to go out.

The place is really nice and the food was alright. But we chose to eat a cheese plattern as a dessert. The photo says it all, this presentation looks like a joke, but this is really what we got.

👍👍 Went here on a Friday afternoon (16:30) Pros: - Can get seating even without reservation for a small group on a Friday. - Friendly waiters - Fast Service - I tried the Der Getrüffelte Burger, so juicy and there are real Parmigiano Reggano cheese slices. - Clean toilets. - Burger + Fries are enough...
