Was will man mehr?

Amazing experience that everyone should visit. Apart from the incredible exhibition, the museum is really well organized. It is clean and disinfectants are available at every corner. The museum staff are some of the most friendly people I have ever met. 10/10.

The museum is disappointing on multiple levels. The exhibition is basically a hodgepodge of Bauhaus design products and original documents with very few and very short texts and an app to guide you through. No attempt is made to explain what thoughts and concepts guided the designs - or how they compared to contemporary alternatives. This lack of context leaves you with a genius cult of Mr Gropius et al - and amazingly the curators even include under the umbrella of Bauhaus designs by other modernists. Poul Henningsen whose lamp is on display had for example nothing to do with Bauhaus! The attempts to bring things up to today - a "tiny house" is exhibited among other things - are gimmicky and led by superficial criticisms of consumerism. On the other hand a display finds nothing wrong in defaming a fired Bauhausian for his "kommunistische Umtriebe" (no quotation marks) - an expression that sounds like it's right out of a Weimar era right wing judge's court order. To sum up, for 10 euros you get a confusing mess of Bauhaus exceptionalism with a left liberal bias. No thanks.

Don’t come! For now, as of April 2019, the Museum is utterly unprepared to receive its visitors. Waiting times are measured in hours, and that’s if you are lucky enough to come here on a day in which tickets are not sold out. Also, the outside spaces are not finished. Other that that the museum is great. It’s administration is not, unfortunately.

I escaped very quickly. There are very few interactive pieces. No real ambience, and nothing of particular interest to me. I would suggest going to see some Bauhaus buildings - way more fun and visually appealing. Probably a great place for art and design students

A great museum. Not sure why some are quite critical. Good audio guide in English for key items and sections.

Beautiful museum, but not one word is spent on the difficult political situation in 1924 when a new Thuringen government hated Bauhaus so much that these brave artists had to move.

Awesome place, must visit in Germany if you like product design, architecture and art for sure. The exhibition is really well structured, informative and interesting. Space is incredible with forms, height and colours. I can recommend to buy a Kombi Ticket with opportunity to visit other museums only for 12€ and also download app “Weimar” to get audio guide for Bauhaus-Museum, additional info about city, sightseeing ☺️🪑

A striking building that resonates the same functional simplicity of the movement’s principles. Unfortunately, the curation is a let down as there simply isn’t a clear narrative that binds each piece together into a clearer overview or, indeed, enough information. Add the fact that with some of the more important pieces there’s not the sufficient space they deserve, as everything is crammed in. The result is you feel like you’re in a home furnishings shop. A lot of potential, some good highlights, still definitely worth a visit (especially for art and design lovers) but for a globally groundbreaking movement/institution of ‘form follows function’, this is style over substance.

Bauhaus at its best.

Interesting museum about Bauhaus Design. Pro: - free audio guide online available and free wi-fi to download the app and use the audio guide - different aspects of Bauhaus philosophy and design - nice café in the lower floor - good size (enough to cover two hours) Con: - too little explanatory displays (even the audio guide do not give a deep insight) Entrance fee (06.2022): Standard: 10€ Reduced: 7€

This is a small museum but it has plenty of stuff to see and listen. The audio guide is detailed. The price is reasonable for this size of exhibition

Good collection, but for a new museum, I found it hard to navigate and get a sense of things. The app wasn't much help. I nearly didn't visit the original Bauhaus items on the third floor, as it wasn't clear they were they and why they were important

Must visit when coming to Weimar! Amazing to see how household items were designed a hundred years ago. And with all the other iconic design in all areas.. loved the experience!

After visit to this museum I needcto admit I felt fulfilled. For design students, artists, architects, graphical designers, filmmakers and anyone who has interes in Creativiti this museum would be advisable place to visit. I just passed by a hunch. I knew a thing or two about Weimar Bauhaus School of design, and now I am really glad to have seen it. Artists of all countries, come and see this beautifull temple of creation. Spirit of this place is strong.

The building is cool and you might find the exhibits cool too. Unfortunately if you grew up in the 70's you've probably seen the furniture around peoples houses. Also they may have been innovative when they were first designed but nowadays they look like generic pieces of furniture. A serious problem with the museum is the audio tour. The items are not well marked so you have to have it to get any information. The audio tour is very verbose and quite boring. Add onto the fact that you have to have a smart phone and hook up to their wi-fi to download it. So don't forget to take your own headphones. And good luck finding the exhibit that your audio tour is talking about.

Bauhaus is famous all over the world, such a small exhibition is out of my expectation. Price is not parallel with contents of display.

It was incredible to see how far ahead of his time he was. Bauhaus has influenced so many and you don't realize it until you see it. Definitely a fun time at the museum.

Very interesting buildings and exhibits, need to leave coats and bags in cabinets at entrance, €1 coin to operate mechanism, returned when you collect belongings. Look into Weimar card, it doesn’t take many museums to put you into profit and includes bus transfers. We didn’t. Can apply on line. Or go to tourist Office at start of time in Weimar not the end like us.

The entrance fee for adults is 10 euros. There are 3-floor exhibition halls. The ground floor consists museum shop and a summary of the Bauhous echole. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors consist of several pieces of art, architecture, ceramic, product design, and textile works. Basement there is a nice cafe where it is connected to the garden.

Absolute "must-see" museum, especially when its about german art of 20th century. There are many floors, so make sure you do a food break while sightseeing. You can use ticket foe multiple entranxw during day. Canteen downstairs didnt work (Monday), but there are many nice food places. I also loved design of building (from 2019) and super lovely, smiling stuff. Special thanks to keeper with curly hair on 1st floor. Historiy genius! :)

This museum opened my eyes regarding the Bauhaus movement. I had heard about it, but now I really know what it encompasses. Spacious & friendly museum guards.

The museum is located in the center of Weimar in a modern building. Interesting expositions about the history and development of the Bauhaus. Of the shortcomings - the lack of elevators and you have to climb 3-4 floors along rather steep stairs, this is a matter of inclusiveness.

Great museum because I could connect many dots by visiting; so many other art forms stem from Bauhaus like architectural functionalism, puppet art like Saw, De Stijl. But also how Ubermensch and sorting people went a bit too far, especially in this area. The building was naturally made in the Bauhaus style, exhibitions and everything reflected the era well. One improvement would be navigation to the toilets, which was not all that clear.

Interesting museum but quite small. I would have also expected more Bauhaus furniture classics on display

Amazingly interesting museum, of course about architecture, but also for arts generally. Very beautiful and inspiring building, and everything is very well explained (in german and in english) and well done. It's too long, in 2 hours is possible to see everything.
