Amazing crawfish étouffée! Owner was a pleasure to talk with. The Poboys and mustard greens were outstanding as well.

To say the food is top tier would be an understatement. When we walked in we immediately noticed the serene atmosphere. The owner of the restaurant Mr. Von took our order with a smile, carefully explaining any questions we had about the menu. While waiting for our food to be prepared we enjoyed a game of ping pong on the table near the front dinning area. When our food game out I was in shock! The food looked and smelled amazing! My plate was generously filled which is a big plus in my book. Have you ever had food that's so good that it makes you want to dance? While eating my food I couldn't keep still, my food was so good! The brisket was so tender that I could have eaten it even if I didn't have teeth. I'm a picky eater so I was surprised at just how perfectly the pasta was cooked. I could say alot more but I think I have said enough. Take a look at the picture I have posted and head over to the absolute BEST restaurant in Baton Rouge!

This is my new favorite local restaurant in Baton Rouge. The BEST service and food. My first time at this restaurant was for Easter and it felt like I was spending it with family. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

I have nothing but good things to say about this place. The owner is nice, cooks the food himself, and is not shy about getting to know his guests. I know I was the only person in the place he didn't know. The ribs were the best I've had in a very long time. No BBQ sauce needed. The ribs seem to have been seasoned with a rub and the flavor was great. The catfish was no less satisfying. The mustard greens alone are worth coming back for!!! If you drive through Baton Rouge, you have to pull up, take a seat, loosen your belt, and dig in because this place is good. Don't be in a hurry, good food should never be rushed.

Best meal in Baton Rouge! We walked in and Von invited us back to the area he was sitting and totally welcomed us in and gave us extra special attention. We started with the crab cakes - Mmm Mmmm, then got the seafood platter with catfish, shrimp and oyster - the breading was light and tasted oh so good. We couldn't decide between the homemade cocktail sauce or tartar sauce as again both were excellent! The sides yams (made with local cane syrup) were like having a nutritious desert first and the mustard greens had just a hint of spice and were so flavorful. We also had shrimp etouffee (the Best of our 2 week trip in Louisiana). We were finished off and rolled out the door after the home made peach cobbler. Amazing meal and conversation!

Absolutely FABULOUS! They were actually closed to do a catering event for the Super Bowl but served us anyway!! It was absolutely WONDERFUL! I had the Mud Bugs (Crawfish) and my husband had the ribs. They were fantastic also. Sorry, I forgot to take a pic of the ribs because I couldn't wait to dig in to my Mud Bugs. Lol...

the food was horrible. my burger was completely burnt, and the patty wasn't even flattened out all the way. it was literally a black ball between two soggy pieces of bread with soggy fries. and their crawfish is too small & too salty; i couldn't enjoy even two of them. 1/10, wouldn't recommend it.

We stopped here on our way to Florida and the food was amazing. The owner and staff were very attentive and patient with us. Crawfish was so good, the ribs, Mac and cheese, dirty rice, frog legs, Gator tail, coleslaw and homemade bbq sauce on point and last but not least that lemonade omgosh was just what the doctor ordered. I will definitely be back when I'm in the area

The owners, the food, and the experience were all simply wonderful! We came with a group of around 15 and they treated our group of students and adults with grace and kindness! The food was spectacular (honestly some of the best brisket I have ever eaten)! You truly get a good portion of food for the price (many of us had leftovers that were reheated and eaten the next day)! I was truly blown away by the personable and hospitable atmosphere! If I am ever in Baton Rouge again, I definitely would go back!!

If you're looking for a Louisiana cultural cuisine then stop at this place for some delicious gumbo! The mac and cheese here is equally good. The owner of this establishment also works the counter and is also the cook! He runs the place single handed and if you get a chance to strike up a conversation with him you'll see that he's a deep thinker, there's nothing shallow about this man.

AMAZING! I DEFINITELY recommend! I’m going to start with dessert. The banana pudding is the best I’ve EVER had. Shrimp ettoufee is just out of this world! Fried catfish, sautéed cabbage and crab cakes??? I can’t even. It was ALL GOOD! But nothing compares to the owner, Von. He cooked it all from scratch…by his self. This is a one man band that is making MAGIC in the kitchen. He’s kind, friendly, skilled…and clearly great at what he does. I can’t recommend this enough!

My family and I ate at Pit-N-Peel on Sunday, June 11th while passing through Baton Rouge. We were blown away. Even my kids were talking about how great the food was. We had frog legs, ribs and fried catfish. We are from Mississippi which has catfish restaurants all over but Pit-N-Peel's catfish is by far the best we've ever had. The flavor is remarkable! The ribs are so tender and full of flavor. The restaurant makes their own bbq sauce, which is great as well, but the ribs are so good, you just want to eat them plain. Frog legs are hard to find but no need to look any further, this place knows how to do them! The fry on them and the flavor is excellent. The portions are more than plenty and the price is very fair! Definitely put this restaurant on your list.

I and the hubby stopped by after a doctor's appointment, and we had the building all to ourselves. The lady was in there by herself, so it took her 25 -30 minutes to cook 2 seafood platters, which is definitely not a long time. Everything was hot, and delicious the fish and shrimp were my favorite. The potato salad and other sides were off the chain. We'll definitely be going back soon as I get some more coins, lol

Food is absolutely delicious!! I called in my order, I can't remember the lady's name that answered the phone but she was amazing!! She explained every dish to me then saying, "I just want people to know what they are getting!" I ordered the catfish plate. She explained that she doesn't cook the food until the person arrive because she wants it hot and fresh, she didn't want my fish soggy! I LOVE THAT!!!! I also got the dirty rice, AMAZING! Instead of ground meat, it had pieces of brisket in it! She also said she makes the tarter sauce herself!! I'll definitely be visiting again!! Thank you!!! 🥰

Didn't get a picture of the food but their fried fish and shrimp is so good. Very well seasoned. Their ribs are tender and I love their bbq sauce. My I also had their leg quarter smoked...oh my it was so good. So by and give them a. Try

On the way to Florida we stopped here mainly for the crawfish. The crawfish was well seasoned and at an amazing price. The fried fish and shrimp were delightful. The mac n cheese was out of this world. This food was like no other. My new favorite stop in Louisiana.

Great place if you want something that's surf and turf. We got a seafood platter and a brisket poboy. I love that the seafood platter came with an option if choosing any 2 sides which were the best! Will come again just for the sides alone!
