荣茂茶室 Restoran Rong Mao

Restaurant Dim sum restaurant

🫤 Overhyped dimsum. Nothing compared to those in KL and Ipoh. Given the very limited tables, bought a large pau to go just for the taste. Price was RM4.50 and size is no where a large pau should be. It is half of the large pau size that I am acustomed to. In that sense, it is very expensive and taste... People often mention taste, nice, good, restaurant,

Overhyped dimsum. Nothing compared to those in KL and Ipoh. Given the very limited tables, bought a large pau to go just for the taste. Price was RM4.50 and size is no where a large pau should be. It is half of the large pau size that I am acustomed to. In that sense, it is very expensive and taste wise, not quite worthy of stomach space. The owner who manages the steamer placed in front of the shop does not seem to be able in handling the limited crowd - there were only 4 tables seated then. Can't quite imagine if the shop is fully opened.

After seeing many negative reviews, me and my friends decided to check it out. The restaurant is definitely old and run down, but food is quite ok. Their liu sha bao n lotus leaf rice is a must try, siu mai pork taste better than the chicken siu mai. There are many nice food too. Price is very affordable and service is quite good, the boss voice can be a bit loud and his face can look slightly annoyed but his a nice guy. Many ppl say boss is rude but for me and my friends his just normal, he's standing behind the steamer controlling the timing and asking for order and taking order from staffs, with many customer at times, I dun really expect him to smile and speak softly. Lady boss is quite friendly and treated us very nicely and recommended us with their top selling choices. So far those that she told us is good, we ate and it's not bad. Overall it's a good and affordable place to have a dim sum breakfast. Do expect crowd at weekend as this place is crawling with tourists and locals. If you ask me whether I will return again, that would be Yes. For the amount of food we ate and the price, will definitely return for more is we ever visit melaka again. For picky eater and for those who only eat high class restaurant, demand ultimate service, you can stay away. This is a place where locals and easy going people come to have a simple meal and enjoy, a place where families come to enjoy simple nice breakfast.

荣茂茶室 Looking for decent dim sum around Jonkers early in the morning, you may try Rong Mao. Mind you that each serving is quite small which is good for us, as we could have more varieties. We went there early before 8am, and could be seated immediately. There was a long queue after that. Suggest that you go early to avoid the crowd. We liked the big bao and lo mai kai. Quite nice! They used to serve pot of hot tea, and customer could refill the pot by themsrlves. However, they have changed it to tea bag and coffe bag.

Famous dim sum restaurant in Jonker Street Melaka. It is usually crowded during weekend morning and some queueing time must be expected. However the taste of food is just at average standard and the service is not so good as they are trying to do things fast.

Of seven of us, 5 voted 4-star and 2 3-star. The consensus is that the steamed items are better than the deep fried items. Amongst the steamed items, the buns 包, glutinous rice and lotus leave rice are the best. Of the fried items, we liked only the yam ball 芋角。a big drawback is that they do not serve chinese tea。

Used to be an old school rest selling dim sum but recently has lost its charm. Really poor quality of dim sum .They don't even sell Chinese tea anymore..everything is done out of convenient more than anything else..The Pao and loh ma kai is still decent though..

Decent food at very affordable price. Three of us spent 30 ringgits here for a nice dim sum breakfast. A must visit for first time visitors

Not sure why the bad reviews. Attitude wasn't an issue. And the dimsum is super. Especially the briased chicken claws and the lotus leaf rice. Definitely a must visit!

If you were to compare Dim Sum of this decades old restaurant to that of the Hong Kong Dim Sum you usually had in KL, don't. This is of totally different class. Here, much cheaper than that of KL, the taste remains the same as much as my parent can remember. Strongly recommend the "Da Bao" (big pork pao), and the "Loh Mai Gai" (steamed glutinous rice with chicken)!

There’s practically no crowd nowadays due to COVID-19. No need to queue, you immediately got a place even during weekend. Sad thing is that the dim sum not as delicious & fresh anymore (was last here 3 years ago). The har gow is oversteamed & the chilly fishball is cold. The ‘magic’ this restaurant once had is gone. The portion is small but that is reasonable given the cheap price.

Price is ok compare to other place, the taste actually just so so for most of the dim sum. if want for the budget dim sum, then this is the right place. if want for more better taste and services, then go other places.

Environment is clean and neat , suitable for a family to come over and eat. The dim sum taste is ok just like those old school type of dim sum . Service staff is friendly. Parking wise there’s a public parking about 200m away. Is at $8RM, there will be an uncle to collect the fee from you .
