Most authentic sushi in Munich. Tatami seating available, wonderful experience! Highly recommend this place, Michelin stars were truly deserved. @getthegirlafork

We had a celebration and went all out and ordered the seasonal menu. The menu has five courses, appetizer, tempura, sushi, main and dessert. Each was exquisite, the bean paste dessert a little less so, but the first four justified the bill. The lights are low, but not very. The tables and chairs without backs are of heavy wood. At some you can sit on tatami mats. The service is patient to explain the menu and drinks. Very enjoyable experience!

Decent sushi by Munich’s (abysmal) standards for Japanese food. The fish is fresh and you get a wide selection of fishes and cuts you don’t find in most other faux sushi places. I would recommend skipping the rather mediocre rolls and head straight for the nigiri or sashimi. That said, the quality comes at a price premium, so be prepared to fork out 80-90€ per person if you have an appetite.

tl;dr: some excellent, fresh sushi. Many sake options. Sit on a tatami! So good. The place: it’s the first time we got to sit on a tatami at a Japanese restaurant. I thought it was pretty cool. They have plenty of regular tables too. It’s relatively quiet, and they had some lovely nature sounds playing before switching to some jazzy music. The food: the best we’ve had in Munich so far. The sushi is evidently made with care and very good ingredients. It was the first time I tried sea urchin sushi (tastes like the ocean) and wagyu (!!) sushi (so juicy). I recommend going for the chef’s choice, which is 7 of their best nigiri of the day. The fish were all pretty smooth and delicious. I also thought the size was perfect. I also had eel wrapped in egg as an appetizer, and it was a nice mix of flavors and textures. What surprised me the most was dessert, though. It’s not something I usually have at Japanese restaurants because there isn’t anything appealing to me at most Japanese restaurants I go to. Sansaro has a dessert plate however with some unexpectedly delicious treats. My absolute favorite was the matcha pudding. My god was that unexpected. I couldn’t have enough of the thing. The service: very polite, very efficient. They speak Japanese, English and German (at least the lady who took our order did). Actually, upon hearing that I was speaking English to Fiancée, she brought us an English menu without us asking for one. Nice attention to detail. Fiancée says: fresh sushi. Can’t get over the fact that sea urchin tastes like ocean. Can highly recommend, very delish. We’ll definitely return at some point 😃

Right in the heart of Munich lies Sansaro, a Japanese restaurant that completely blew me away with its incredible sushi. Honestly, it's hands down the best and most genuine Japanese sushi I've ever had. For dinner, we decided to go all out and try a bit of everything. We snagged a spot on the outdoor terrace, which was a great choice. We kicked things off by picking two rare Japanese whiskeys from an impressive selection – let me tell you, they were something else. After that, we dove into a couple of appetizers. They were bursting with flavor and set the bar high. When the main courses arrived, they didn't disappoint. We tried a variety of sushi rolls, and if you're going, don't miss the spider rolls – they're a game changer. The quality of the food across the board was top-notch, a real testament to the chef's skill. We wrapped up the evening with a dessert plate that showcased a range of treats. Each bite was a delight. Now, I won't sugarcoat it – Sansaro isn't the cheapest place in town. But here's the kicker: it's absolutely worth it. They've even earned a Michelin star, which speaks volumes about their quality. The only minor letdown was the interior. I was hoping for a cozier setup and a more appealing decor. However, they're sticking to their roots, offering an authentic Japanese experience with sitting on the floor and eating at small tables. In a nutshell, Sansaro isn't just a restaurant; it's a food journey. If you're ready to invest a bit more for a truly unforgettable meal, this is the spot.

-A night to remember- We came a long way from Switzerland to experience Munich. A Dinner on a sushi restaurant was a must in muc. After finding Sushiya we decided to go here. Super friendly staff, very nice and authentic location and the food is very delicious. However, after waiting for 20 minutes for the sushi we were told the rice was empty. We were not happy and ordered some starters again. Our discomfort was noticed immediately and we offered some very delicious food for free and drinks for free. We were super surprised and happy about that attitude. It was a great experience, we will never forget.

The service from Frau Henrike and the gentleman who took the order in the restaurant was very good, and they were considerate and made you feel at home. Because there are so many customers, they can also make customers who come to pick up takeaways feel cared for.

Excellent fish quality and attention from the staff. The sake selection was delicious. Maybe some mayos or sauces that went together with the fish seemed to me a bit heavy or not a great fit. But, overall, a joyful experience!

Although I am east asian, I was never fond of sushi or raw fish. Until I found Sushiya sansaro. This restaurant made me fall in love with sushi and raw fish. It was my first love so to speak ;-) Since then whenever I eat sushi in other places wherever in the world I always inevitably compare them with Sushiya. Is it worse than Sushiya? It‘s a bad sushi then. Is it as good as or better than Sushiya? Then it’s a good enough sushi restaurant for me :-) As for my last visit there we ordered some starters, the chef’s choice nigiri and the dessert plate to share. The tamago (japanese egg roll) with eel although a fairly simple dish, was executed excellently. The chicken karaage was very tender and juicy. All of the nigiri pieces were satisfyingly melt-in-the-mouth. Fish quality was comparable to sushi restaurants in Japan. The sushi were also not heavily seasoned with unnecessary sauces etc. so one could really taste the freshness of the fish. For us the highlight of the evening was the chutoro (fatty tuna) nigiri, it‘s beautifully cut so no chewy tendons and the texture is melt-in-the-mouth. On our every visit we always prefer the tatami seating. This is so rare in Europe we always enjoy it very much to be able sit on the floor while eating like back home… :) Last but not least, the dessert plate, although again fairly simple japanese style sweets but one could really taste the high-quality ingredients used to make them. They were not overly sweet as well. That was a perfect ending to our feast. We are very much looking forward to dining at your place again. Next time maybe we‘ll go for Kaiseki! ;-) P.S. It‘s nitpicking to otherwise perfect experience, but maybe you could use nice japanese chopsticks instead of disposable ones. I think it would pair much more nicely to your high quality japanese ceramics.

An amazing experience for those who know about sushi and are looking for a high quality offering. Service was pleasant and spoke kindly with us in German and English, explaining the menu when needed. It's one of the more expensive suchi offerings, so if you're new to it there are other, less expensive or intimidating places to try first to test the waters. A wonderful experience if you're looking for a treat.

Finally a great Japanese restaurant. The food was excellent, the service very friendly and helpful. I hadn't realized that there was such a variety of Sake and I had a wonderful glass of Sake that was recommended by one of the waitresses to accompany my ice cream. The prices are a little high for some dishes but I guess that these dishes are truly special ones. I had some nice vegetables in tempura, two different maki rolls and some ice cream. All of the dishes were very refined and delicious. I truly recommend this place for some authentic Japanese food!

We did not expect to have such amazing sushi in Munich — wow! Everything was super fresh. Lovely, kind service, too. The sake is pricey. The starters (shrimp tempura and miso eggplant) were top notch, would definitely come back if in Munich again.

Great sashimi, kind staff. I had the sashimi moriawase, agedashi, and umaki (eel and tamago). Sashimi was very fresh, and very reasonable price for the quality. Extensive selection of Japanese whisky- I had Taketsuru 17.

I have been in Sansaro for the first time after reading a lot of this restaurant through many sources. I've decided to come here not because of the Michelin Guide, although it is also a good criteria. I actually just want to be here to experience the whole concept behind this one and the Japanese "spirit" or quality that the owner and his team want to give their guests. A perfect start with Miso soup and Crispy Ebi Tempura. They are very good. After that I have taken Musashi plate with 5 best chef's choices of Nigiri on that day. Those Nigiris are really cherries on top of the cake. I have never ever tasted such good Nigiris in any other sushi restaurants in München for a long time. Until today I still remember the pure taste of them. The service is also professional and friendly. I also noticed that the restaurant owner was there for a short time to check on everything. When he saw some full trays with dirty glasses at the waiter's corner outside while all the waiters were busy at that time, he immediately brought them inside instead of commanding anyone of them to do such things. Such behaviours show me that they have good company culture. Keep doing the good job, Sansaro!

So!!! At the moment, my best experience with Japanese food in munich! The food was superb! Expensive? Yes! But impossible not to be!!! Everything that we ordered was delicious, the waiter really friendly, but it is me, I did not like the ambient! The music and the lights!!! But this will not ruin your experience!!! If you are crazy, taste the Maguro toro sashimi!!!

Probably few of the best sushi place in Munich! Each piece tasted so fresh without any bad smell! It is pricey but at least you get good quality one. The main course Teriyaki Salmon was also surprisingly delicious, cooked with thick and rich sauce, just don’t forget to order a bowl of rice separately. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for proper sushi in Munich, especially good for dating and celebration.

The best sushi place in Munich by far! I have been here already 5 times and will be back again. Starters, main dishes and deserts are just amazing. The staff and cooks are very friendly and personal. They talked to my friend in Japanese and made the experience feel more authentic. Thank you ☺️

Some of the best sushi I’ve ever had. The ingredients are clearly high quality and everything is clearly very thought out. The place feels very authentic and the food is honestly amazing. Service is also great and the staff is extremely friendly. It is pricier than other sushi places, but that’s understandable because the ingredients are clearly higher quality. Wait time is a little long, so I’d be aware of that but don’t let it deter you from visiting!

The sushi is really delicious. This is probably the best shake nigiri I've ever had, but the waiting time was very long. We had to wait ~40 minutes to get our soup and 1 plate of starter, and once we finished that we again had to wait a long time for the sushi. The ice cream also took a while. The waiter was very nice and the food delicious though.

This was one of the most incredible food experiences I’ve ever had. The service was impeccable and the owner Alexander is one of the kindest and most hard working people I have encountered. You can tell he really put all his love into this restaurant. I can’t recommend this restaurant more.

So Reservation was easy with OpenTable. We’ve been introduced to the menu very well. Waiter was very kind and double checked the order. Food was just amazing! Quality was absolutely great. Just the rice seems to be a little too dry. Toppings of Nigiris were perfect. Wasabi used was not the common spicy and overcovering stuff. Can recommend this place to all Sushi Lovers. Yuzu Sorbet was delicious for a perfect finish. Guys GO FOT IT!

Where do I even start? With the fine selection of Sake, maybe? Or with the great japanese whisky that's on the menu? And, of course, not to forget the delicious sushi of amazing quality! All in all a great place to enjoy sushi, possibly Munich's best. The staff made us feel very welcome and, even though they had no reason to, apologized for the long wait (we didn't mind that at all, after all, sushi is nothing to eat in a hurry). I will be back soon!

It was a sweet surprise. I wasn’t really expecting since it’s really hard to CASUALLY come by an authentic Japanese experience. First impressions: the sushi chef is Japanese (a must), the place is chic and the lone male waiter is an absolute 5 star. We had agedashi tofu, tempura and sushi, all were superb. And to top it off, matcha and sesame ice cream for dessert. They are to die for!
