Our local friend recommended this restaurant. And it is 5 minutes from the apartments where we lived. It was our farewell dinner on the island, the next day we flew away. It was our mistake to go not to a proven restaurant (we spent 14 days on the island), but discover a new one. Our expectations were too high and did not materialize. The interior is neat and cozy, the waitresses are friendly and smiling. It's plus! But prices are higher than in other restaurants of Mahebourg. For example, octopus curry in other restaurants costs 350 Rs, here 475 Rs. Mussels (as a starter) were really tasty! We enjoyed. But the main courses - octopus curry and curry chicken with shrimps were tasteless. Lacked spices and salt... Not that awful, but we were expecting more. Our most expensive dinner on the island and we were not impressed :(

The curry is nice. Favor and smell superb. Meet the owner... She is friendly and can make all the Mauritian meal. For special request... You need to contact her in advance.

Hands down one of the best restaurants I have been to whilst on my Mauritian holiday- by far the best in blue bay/ mahebourg and have been to the top rated... A small restaurant with a small menu that changes based on fresh food and what's available. There were seafood, chicken and steak dishes. My partner and I had the steak as we had been having curries and Mauritian dishes for a few weeks. We were very skeptical but was so soft and tender cooked medium rare to our liking- absolutely divine. We were literally cutting through the steak with butter knives. Our entrees were delicious- chicken liver in sauce and garlic prawns cooked to perfection. Dessert we had the trio like the previous post and were the same- caramel flan, lemon frozen tart and choc mousse- hard to pick between them and even harder to pick what we enjoyed most. Even better was the lovely man serving us- such a kind person who will put a smile on your face. We are returning tomorrow thanks!!!! :)

In just one word: "excellent". The food was the best in all Mauritius, we had eaten in a lot of restaurants in the West and in the north, but this was the best. Fresh fish, with 4 different sauce options. We had the Creole and the curry. For dessert we had 3 on 1 flan, chocolate mousse and lemon pie. It was fantastic. Excellent background music. And the owners were really cool. We had a wonderful time.

I have discovered this gem of a restaurant through friends. The very best Vanilla Chicken you will ever taste ! I have been going back for more and more ! Owner/Chef Edwige is not only a great chef and business owner but a gem of a person. I have been greated/welcomed/shared a talk and even escorted home on my late evening walk to be safe. My favorite spot to eat in the area.

Very cute little restaurant. Very nice and personal service. The food was amazing. Very tasteful and good portions. If we would stay longer in Mauritius I would come back for another nice meal ❤️

Delicious Mauritian food, very nice staff and great atmosphere!

I highly recommend Le Bistrot, the best restaurant I‘ve been in Mauritius! The menu is always a little bit different with options of seafood, fish and beef. You have some starters as well as dessert. My absolute favorite is the banana flambé and the tuna tatar. The only things that should be mentioned is, that Monday is closed!

Overall fantastic. We really enjoyed our dinner here with our toddler. The owner was so kind and personal. The food was amazing Mauritian food. The place was really nicely decorated and very clean. Definitely a must in Mahebourg. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

this is a small restaurant on the side of the road, its a bit crowded inside with tables and can get quite hot even with the fans blowing. the pasta was great, the creamy sauce was absolutely delicious. the large prawns were also superb. definitely would come back. the open windows and being next to a busy road (where the bikers like to roar by) can make it a bit noisy.

What a pleasant surprise. We have been coming to the island for over ten years and we have finally found the gem that has eluded us. The crispy calamari is to die for and the main fish dishes were amazing. We will be back soon. Also to note, the welcoming was amazing and the service good.

So happy we tried this place! After reading reviews on the "poulet vanille", I knew I had to try it... And it did not disappoint! One of the tastiest chicken meals i've ever had. Different, but nonetheless, delicious! Service was quick, staff was wonderful. Highly recommend!

Fantastic restaurant, we had a really lovely dinner here. The staff were really friendly and welcoming, always checking that we were ok and if we needed anything else. The food was very tasty. We had a couple of seafood dishes which were cooked perfectly. Highly recommend the seafood fricassee.

We had just a lovely evening at Le Bistrot. The owner is a welcoming lady which was always making sure we have everything. The food had a fantastic quality and a very good value for money. The restaurant itself is a little hidden but has a nice welcoming vibe. Would definitely come again!

Attention, new owner, ignore all the old reviews. The new team is great, they really make the best out of it. Not everything is on a very professional level, but they are really nice, the food is great and the price as well. Recommendation.
