Local cuisine experience. The octopus salad was really good but the rest of our dishes were okay. The Grilled lamb was a bit on the fatty side and the grilled fish was good but we received two small fish instead of a medium size one. So had a lots of small bones. IG: Nougusta

Definitely our best food on Mauricius. It is worth to come early after opening or to make a reservation because this place is getting full quickly. Is highly recomended to order sea food, so we ordered sea food plate and octopus salad. Everything was delicious and tastefull! The guys cook fresh catch of the day. They also have a homemade rum (we tried coconut), it was perfect too. The staff is very friendly and quick as well. This place is more like a beach bar, chairs in the sand, lovely music and a nice sea view. Prices are reasonable.

I like this place. Very tasty food, the seafood platter was so good and well served with 5 stars decoration. The octopus salad is delicious, one of the best in Mauritius. And the owner very polite and humble. Great sea view just next to the restaurant. Can’t wait to be there again.

We were overcharged by almost double of what the menus price was and when we contended it there wasn’t any hope of this being corrected. I was screamed at for giving a few scraps to a nearby dog, after which the chef threw tom thumbs (fire crackers) at the pregnant pup. The overall experience was awful.

Very generous portions of delicious food at reasonable prices. The passionfruit rum was delicious too. We got the sauteed seafood, octopus salad and crispy calamari. Make sure you get there early. We arrived soon after opening and were served food quickly. They weren't open Sunday night.

Large portions at very reasonable prices. Outdoors across the ocean. Ordered the mixed seafood platter with rice. It was very delicious. Also had the beef noodle - one of the best on the island. Will definitely return to try some more dishes. Closes at 3pm on Sunday.

The ambience was chilled, the staff was so friendly, the portions were huge, the food was delicious (especially the seafood platter): I can’t recommend enough The Taste of Freedom for a great diner!

Best meal we had this week in Mahebourg. Fresh, tasty, hot, well seasoned and affordable. We had the grilled lamb, crispy prawns and beef stir fry. Cedric was very friendly and helpful. Meal with drinks for 3 came to about Rs1300. Do try the shots of flavored rum. We had coconut. Very tasty. Very vibey. Really wish we could have gone one more time.

Taste of Freedom was a fantastic find! It is small and unpretentious. The fried rice (veggie) and lobster in coconut sauce were incredibly flavorful and satisfying — the kind of food that makes you feel good. It's truly a hidden gem that deserves recognition among the best street-food cuisine spots. If you appreciate good food and don't mind the simple ambiance with plastic chairs, I highly recommend giving it a try!

Wow. Everything about Taste of Freedom is amazing. The food is so deliciously prepared. We had a seafood heavy meal and everything was incredibly fresh and so lovely to eat. Both the owner and the server are wonderfully friendly and I really felt like I was at a friends back garden enjoying a home cooked meal. Even better was meeting Missy at the bathroom 😉 thank you so much for an amazing experience from the U.K.!!

The experience at this restaurant was disappointing. Despite arriving early, we waited for almost 2 hours to get our food. It seemed as though our order was forgotten or given less priority, possibly due to the assumption of favoring larger groups or certain customers. Regrettably, despite the extended wait, the food's quality was only average, failing to justify both the high prices and the inconvenience of the prolonged wait. The view is nice though.

We went to what we think was a “chiringuito” and found the best gourmet cuisine of the island. The “seafood a la crème” and the catch of the day finishing with banana flambé resulted the most exquisite meal we have enjoyed in Mauritius . A very reasonable prize, a good amount of food a delicious preparation, and friendly service. Only one superb cook provides for the few tables set under the shade overlooking the sea , it’s Worth The Time Of Waiting to be served…

Taste of freedom has a varied vegan/vegetarian menu. We had the tacos and it was filled with veggies, tofu, avocado. It was really good. They also had vegetarian pasta, vegan noodles and rice. The owners were welcoming and the food was affordable. The place was super cosy, very rustic and chill. We would definitely recommend.

Taste of paradise! We went there for dinner two nights in a row. It was delicious, the guys are friendly and kind. The place has a great view on the water and the food is absolutely amazing! We would be back anytime.
