Beautiful, historic, placid, and free. An easily accessible stop only a couple of minutes out of the way if you're going to Hunting Island SP. There's a historical market that tells a little, but so much more can be learned! It's a beautiful photogenic spot best visited when the lighting conditions are perfect. We arrived a few minutes after the sun had dipped, with a sky that was still fully lit with soft roses and oranges. We were too rushed to fully explore the burial grounds, but we'll be back next year. Big thank yous to whomever maintains this beautiful historic ruins! Our family loved it!

Fantastic spot for some history, sightseeing and relaxing. Bring a picnic and make an afternoon of it. It is a roadside attraction so there is no entrance fee. It is also a pet friendly location, good for the whole family.

Such a haunting beautiful tranquil place. Admiring the architecture and serenity for this beautiful low country site. I love old churches and it's a quick stop on the way to Fort Fremont.

Just a cool place!! Built in 1740, it is just an incredibly well constructed chapel. The cemetery that sits on the chapel grounds is kind of eerie with the old trees and Spanish moss hanging from them. Great place to visit if you're in the area. Bring a few bottles of water to pour over the headstones because the are weather-worn.

Such an awesome place! We found this randomly driving by, we were alone and it was kind of spooky. Great piece of history and local lore.

Sacred burial ground and tabby church ruins with many layers of history. Many unique stone inscriptions. Area monitored for respectful use only with permission.

When we visited it was a quiet rainy day. We were the only people there. It feels a little magical standing within the walls while looking up at the sky, knowing how long ago others stood in the same spot as I was standing. Inside the remains of that church, you can imagine the songs that probably filled that space.

Heritage Day the second week in November, will definitely be a great time to visit! Parades, great seafood, Stage shows, & plenty family fun! I advise anyone, who wants to learn the history of Penn Center, to definitely visit around this time, just to feel the experience!

Such a beautiful piece of history hidden away on the side of the road. We stopped by for a few minutes to explore, and ended up spending almost an hour there. We loved feeling the seashells on the bones of the Parish. There were dozens of headstones to read. The whole atmosphere of the area had a tranquil feel to it, and drew us in. We didn't want to leave. The grounds welcomed us like an old friend. Take a little time to explore the grounds for yourself! Definitely worth a stop.

Beautiful ruins with history marker! We were the only ones there and were able to really look at everything and appreciate what was once there.

I like to stop at historical sites and share the history with my children. We saw the gravesites of the Fripp family among others. Very well kept and the remaining structures were beautiful. The children laid coin atop the gravesites.

A bit off the beaten track, but worth the journey. A bit spooky (the mausoleum looks like somebody broke out) but other tombstones make interesting reading. Would like to go back to make rubbings. The church was made with tabby which has held up through fire, hurricanes, etc.

We were married there one year ago Sunday and went back for our 1st anniversary. We love the town of Beaufort and go back as often as we can. Luther's and Hemingways are 2 of our favorite places.
