A wonderful place to stop over for the night near Beaufort west. Hunter the tame Eland was my favorite. He walked over to me when I called his name and we had a good chat :). What a beautiful animal!

Loved this beautiful farm, wished we could stay longer. Perfect for travellers. Allow late check ins. Beautiful comfortable rooms with that unique Karoo hospitality and scrumptious breakfast. Beautiful surroundings, game driving and perfect for star gazing. Lots of activities available for a longer stay.

The rooms have everything you need for a 1 or 2 night stay (small kitchenette in the room and braai facilities). I've stayed there a good couple of times when driving between CT and JHB and it's a good stopping point. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food, if you choose to eat at the guesthouse is quite expensive, but definitely worth it!

Such a serene and beautiful place. We highly recommend it. We have been living on the road in our 1968 MK1 Landliner for over 5 years and what an experience at The Vale. Love FB 'Ford-in-transit' Linda and Craig😎🌻🌞🌻

Simone is an amazing host. The cottage was very warm, comfortable and the best shower I’ve had in ages! A braai and slaai was prepared for our arrival, and there was power when we needed it (during stage 6 loadshedding)

Service for camping is great , Simone' looks after you from the moment you arrive, the only thing she couldn't control was the weather, as it was wet we ate at the restaurant for the first time the Venison pie was to die for , l will be back.

Always a great stop. Bedrooms with crisp white linen. Do not forget about the beds. Great night sleep before getting an early start the next morning. WiFi in the rooms. K

Stayed in the hunting lodge this past week and only received meals from guesthouse. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Rooms take one back in time as do the English rose and herb gardens. There is also a superb venue centre on site and a 4×4 and a mountain bike cycle trail nearby. The owners, who I have known for 9 years, are often on hand to meet visitors when not busy with their farming or hunting activities. Well worth staying over here when traveling between Cape Town and Johannesburg.

It was great that friendly Simoné accommodated us as walk-ins, thank you for a quiet and restful night-rest. I enjoyed the plant- and bird-life early in the morning. The encounter with the "tame" Eland was a good experience for us.

We arrived in the rain, and was told that the room we rented had 2x water leaks. The excuses were that it was not fixed because the staff never arrived for work. So my question is what was wrong with the owner to not get up on the roof and FIX IT. The communil kitchen was not that clean either. We will not be back.

Nice peaceful venue for a stayover. Walks in the fynbos and Braai's under the karoo sky. Chalets are simple but well equipped. Only complaint was old uncomfortable mattresses in the room I was in.

Great location and good scenery. Room looks great. Take your own drinking water. Bed was a bit uncomfortable.

Clean, Accessible, friendly Staff and a great place to stop over. Perhaps consider Chicken or fish on the set menu as an option for non red meat eaters but will definitely stay again
