Oh my, where to begin. Check in was very pleasant. The front desk gentleman was kind and welcoming and the front foyer was lovely. That’s it for the one star. If it wasn’t so late and we weren’t so tired from an 11 hour drive we would have changed hotels. There was the distinct smell of smoke when we entered the room, despite having been specifically asked to sign a statement at checkin promising not to smoke. The room was dark and dingy and had clearly seen better days. There was a layer of dust on just about everything and while looking for plugs behind the headboard I found remains of I don’t know what. Food? Wrapper? There were crumbs of something orange on the bathroom floor and cracks in the tile. Although the room had kitchen cupboards I didn’t feel comfortable putting any food in them. Our toilet did not flush properly so I had to call the front desk. The kind gentleman who checked us in was the same one to plunge our toilet. I felt sorry for this young man who was clearly trying his best. I could go on about the broken screen and other dirty areas but needless to say, we didn’t get the best sleep worrying about what might be crawling in the sheets with us throughout the night. How could this hotel be in such bad shape. We have stayed in Country Inn and Suites years ago and always had excellent experiences. Are the housekeepers given enough time to clean properly? Who is checking that they do clean properly? These rooms need a good deep clean in order to be assigned to guests. It felt like we were staying in some dumpy no-tell motel. This experience was totally unacceptable and we will never stay at a Country Inn and Suites again.

We were very disappointed in our stay. We have been staying here for over 10 years on our way down and back from Florida. Our room was filthy. We found hair in the bed and a dirty tissue behind the pillows down by the headboard. The carpets are gross. The bathroom ceiling was cracked. There was hair in the shower. The pullout bed had a dirty stained mattress. There were crushed potato chips between the wall and couch. There were stains on the hand towels in the bathroom. We will never stay here again. Thanks Mary from housekeeping for a clean and sanitized room.

Pros - Great location, Heated pools (both indoor and outdoor), Continental breakfast was plentiful, most of the staff was friendly, our room was large with 2 televisions, 2 sofas, and a king sized bed along with a double headed shower and double sinks. Cons - hot tub outside not working during our stay, the water pressure in the shower was not the best, they are still on covid restrictions (not really, nobody is wearing masks etc. they just wont come into your room during your stay to clean it) so you have to sit all of your towels and trash outside your door then go to the desk to get what you need. It is a pet friendly hotel so if you have allergy to animals you may want to stay elsewhere because there was definitely animal hair in the carpet in our room. *edit since I cannot respond to the owner. We did ask the front desk about cleaning our room and was TOLD by the older white lady behind the counter they do not service rooms during the stay and we would need to come to the desk to get towels etc. even though your laminate paper indicated otherwise.

This place will fraudulently charge your credit card even after saying it won’t post when you decided to leave without staying—oh, and they have bed bugs they’re ignoring! It’s also just dirty and gross rooms in general and the room we had been given was not the size room we paid/reserved online. Also, there was a recent shooting in this hotel for some bad drug deal (found out from the hotel we went to stay at instead when we left here- google it!) Story: We booked a stay here and checked in. We went to our room and started looking to see if any bed bug signs. We ALWAYS look but I’ve only once found something in a hotel before this. To our surprise, we found multiple signs! We looked in the box spring and all. The rooms were clearly not cleaned in general either. (We are well-versed in the signs to look for bed bugs.) We decided not to unpack our stuff and went to tell the front desk. The 2 employees we talked to were not caring or apologetic at all, didn’t care that they have a problem they’re ignoring but said they didn’t have any other rooms available but they could refund us if we didn’t want to stay. They said it was a pending charge and “IT WILL NOT POST”. We left and went elsewhere thinking they’d actually do an ounce of their job. A few days later, the charge posted! (Yes, posted. Not a pending prior authorization) We called and they said the manager will take care of this. Of course they didn’t! Called back, and they started ignoring our calls! No matter what, they would not answer when we called! My husband called corporate and they sent a request to this location that corporate says they have to respond to. They didn’t! We took all this and disputed the credit card charge and won (credit card company contacted the hotel and hotel didn’t respond to them either). This place is bad news. I see they’ve gone downhill also by more recent reviews. Also noticed there was a partial broken ceiling (pool area I think) they hadn’t fixed.

First room smelled like cigarettes. Staff accommodated the change efficiently and kindly. All staff hard working as low on workers. Very expensive room due to Memorial Day holiday. Not a good view. Hotel badly needs paint inside. Rooms spacious and old but comfortable. Was able to sleep with the window open so that was terrific.

Stayed here overnight on a trip to the beach. Great accommodations. Very Clean. Pool and spa was fantastic. We had our 2 dogs and 4 children with us and stayed in a 2 queen 1 bedroom suite. Lots of room and the pull out sofabed made it so we could all stay in same room. Friendly staff. A great breakfast buffet in the morning fueled us up to continue our trip.

Our whole experience here was wonderful, from check in till time to check out. The two women that checked us in was super nice and helpful. The room was super spacious and so clean!! The bed was so comfortable! It was a very good night's sleep. The indoor pool and spa was so relaxing and fun. The pool area was super welcoming and clean, really enjoyed that. The breakfast bar was FANTASTIC! So many options for everyone, both children and adults. The man did such a good job. The entire staff was so helpful and so kind and welcoming. If your in Beckley you definitely need to stay here! Good bless your hotel and your staff.

This is the kind of off the freeway hotel that frustrates me. They know that the majority of people are staying for 1 night and passing on, never to return so where is the incentive to make the place nice or even clean. We rolled in at 10pm and were out by 7.30an so the price point is good for a nights sleep but I do still expect cleanliness. Our room was just dirty. One bed didn’t have a mattress cover on it and the counter panes were stained. I called the front desk and here is where the hotel is doing well. Every single staff member was polite, attentive and helpful. Within 5 mins, I had a clean mattress cover and sheet set delivered. In the morning, the gentleman looking after the breakfast area was chatty and helpful. So, well done on your staff for bringing this review up a little star wise. Management need to work on cleanliness and the hotel corp need to renovate. We literally had tiles falling off the baseboards on the bathroom. Location is great, of course. Right off the freeway so you’re paying for convenience and not any type of luxury.

Alright here are the positives, staff was friendly and they are currently in a remodel to modernize the amenities. Everything else was supremely underwhelming. We got there and they checked us into a room that was currently occupied which did NOT make me feel safe. Then when we checked into the actual room, it had a moldy looking shower curtain and felt generally unclean. The tv was not very good and was fuzzy the entire time. And finally , while it advertised a full breakfast in the morning from 6:30-9 , we showed up at 7:15 am with only coffee available. No sign or anything providing reasoning for lack of breakfast (which is a big reason we chose this hotel in the first place). So all in all, I’d call ahead to make sure they have things in place before you check in.

We arrive close to 4 PM on May 27, 2022 and stayed until close to 9 AM May 29, 2022. I believe check-in time is 3 or 4 PM. Our room wasn’t ready when we arrived until 5:15 PM. Before arriving I asked the hotel if they had any pack and plays for my child and they said yes. I didn’t bring anything for my child to sleep in because they had pack and plays there. Immediately getting there and check again and Shay can I get a pack and play in the room whenever you’re finished cleaning it? They of course said yes. Again we didn’t get into the room until 5:15 PM. We went out to dinner and did some things in town. Before leaving I mentioned to them The the room still wasn’t fully clean. They made a list of issues which included the pack and play, a dirty toilet, trash still not taken out, and lamps not working. We get back in and still there’s no pack and play and this is after 9 PM. Everything else was fixed except the pack and play and lamps. We also only flush toilet paper down the toilet and had to plunge that. That was annoying all weekend, after anytime flushing having to plunge. The hotel staff was kind. They took $50 off one night for the troubles. I’m a hotel issues for people being very loud outside of your room and down and some patio area at 11pm music to loud. The cleaning staff did seem to be very busy. They provided us with washcloths and towels when we needed. The room sizes were very nice. The continental breakfast was the best part. The staff again was very nice. I just don’t know why it took so long to get a pack and play. Why did I have to ask multiple times? Why does it take so long to clean? For the price I wouldn’t go back. The community computers also were not working.

Do not stay here!! This hotel is the filthiest place I've ever stayed. The front desk clerk was nice & friendly, but that doesn't make up for the condition of the rooms. The first room they gave me was clearly not cleaned. There was hair all over the bathroom, visible dirt all over the room & bathroom, & the bed linens were not changed. The 2nd room they gave me was still dirty, but less dirty than the first room, so I agreed to stay in that room if they sent up clean sheets so I could change the sheets myself since they hadn't been changed, & I wiped down the bathroom myself. They sent up a housekeeper that actually works at another hotel, but was helping out because this one was so short staffed. That person was appalled at the condition of my room & kept apologizing for the inconvenience & mess. The pool area should be completely shut down. There is algae growing inside the pool area & the pool itself is dirty & cold. The hot tub is lukewarm & does not have working jets. The breakfast was also poor. The hot items were cold, there was not a good selection, & the set up was not good for traffic flow. I expected more out of this hotel & I was disappointed & WAY overcharged! My family will NEVER stay at this hotel again! Don't waste your time & money - stay somewhere else!

Don't believe any of the bad reviews. The rooms were exceptionally clean. They are absolutely pet friendly. And they put people with pets on the first floor with their own entrance. There is also a pet area right outside of that side entrance. The hotel was much cleaner and much nicer than what has been said on previous reviews. The price is absolutely wonderful and cheap. The location is perfect if you're a traveler. They also will not accept anybody with an ID from within 50 miles of the hotel. Also, there is lots of food, tobacco store, and liquor store, within walking distance of your room. The hotel has a wonderful aesthetic and looks absolutely immaculate from the outside. Everything was super clean in the room. There is absolutely no smoking in this hotel. It will charge you $200 if you smoke in a room. There is a wonderful indoor pool that's also immaculate. This hotel is definitely a three-star hotel with one stock prices.

This is a mixed review: our king suite was spacious. Our bed was comfortable Note: The pool towels are small The pillows in the bedroom are small Hot tub jets did not work last night-that said, the hot tub was a great temperature Our room had a small refrigerator with hardly any freezer space There is no door between the bedroom and living room Front desk staff polite (indifferent) not friendly when we checked in yesterday afternoon- There was no place in the bathroom at the vanity to plug in my electric toothbrush-the outlet-plug is a couple of feet away (see photo) The breakfast was good-omelette, sausage, potato cakes, biscuits and gravy, yogurt, waffles, bagels, fruit, juice, coffee, hot chocolate and flavored creamers.

I've had good experiences with other Country Inn and Suites locations, so I thought it would be a good choice when we decided to stop for the night on our way home from vacation. The front desk staff was friendly. We had two rooms for one night. Both were rather small and dated, and poorly maintained. We found candy wrappers in the nightstand drawer, the knob on one dresser fell off and the drawer fell apart on the other. The toilet paper holder was missing the bar that holds the toilet paper. An empty tissue box was left in the bathroom. The nightstand looked like something had chewed the corner. There was mold in the coffee maker. We had a room facing the front parking lot and only the sheer curtains closed; the drapes are purely decorative. The pool area is big, but the hot tub was missing a floor drain cover, the jets were just holes, tiles were missing, the tiles above the waterline were dirty and had words scratched into them, and there was no way to turn on the jets in the hot tub. It seems like it was a decent hotel at one time, but has not been maintained or updated. I was very disappointed with this stay.

Location great - right off the highway. Staff were friendly. Our first floor room was disgusting - the pull out bed was littered with garbage inside and the surfaces were sticky. We asked to switch (first time ever and we stay at a lot of hotels) and they accommodated us no problem. Next room was cleaner, but honestly, these rooms need a serious update. Beds are not comfortable and the pull out - you’re basically sleeping on metal bars. We stayed here 3 years ago and the place has just gone downhill ever since. Not a nice place to stay after a long day on the road. On a positive note, the breakfast was awesome and one of the best we have had. Well done there. And again, friendly staff. The two stars go to the breakfast and staff.

Room was good. Staff super friendly. Unfortunately no breakfast staff showed up to prepare the breakfast. Other members jumped in and did their best to get some food items available. All in all was very pleased with the staff!!

If you are looking for a basic room with easy on and off access to the interstate with a free hit breakfast, this hotel will fill those buckets. But, our room was not very clean (we found old food on the desk chair, dirt in the corners of the restroom, and stained furniture). Also, there was no coffee for breakfast (machine is broken) and there were no pillows when we asked at the front desk. We booked a room for 6, but only had supplies for 4. Luckily, we got more towels and the kids brought their own pillows from the car.

After being on the road for 5 hours, my husband, 4 children and I checked in. Upon entrance to the room we were met with a horrible smell. The air conditioning did not work on one half of the room, walls covered in some type of dried liquid, bed had human hair, food, different colored stains, a/c unit was open and the electrical wires hanging out (we have a toddler so this was not ideal), stains all on the window curtains, toilet seat fell off, peeled door frames..I could literally go on and on. I'm usually able to just choke it back and deal for a night. But this was not doable. My children were uncomfortable & the entire thing gave me anxiety. I spoke with the front desk & received quality service and moved to another room down the hall. Only, it looked and smelled like the first one. I went back again and spoke with another gentleman, who was snippy at first and asked me, 'what type of compensation are you looking to get exactly?' While I wad nicely explaining the dirt. I told him it's not about that, it's getting what we paid for and the comfort of my family. We paid $250 & he said that 'there is nothing he can do about the cost', to which I replied, 'he COULD do something about the cleanliness & that I will not be able to find a perfectly cleaned room.' We were moved to another room that his 'senior cleaning staff' handles. Once again, horrendous. We packed up our kids and are now making the 5 hour drive back home because it just wasn't doable or acceptable. I'm very disappointed & understand that Noone is perfect but as you can see in the photos, this wasn't even close to mediocre. It felt like a $60 motel, not a $250 hotel.

First time staying here. We was amazed at the size of the room. The room was huge but very nice and comfortable as was the bed. My mom went to breakfast and came back bragging about your breakfast bar how good it was. Very nice staff members. You really made our stay a very nice one. God bless your hotel and staff always!!

Absolutely horrible! Room is filthy! The floor was so sticky that you can't walk on it without literally getting stuck to it. Told the front desk they said that's just how it is. Hot tub is barely warm and it's so cloudy that you can't even see the steps to get into it. And by the way, it's not jetted. Just a warm kiddy pool. Pool room was covered in trash and had no towels. Front desk simply said, there are no clean towels on the entire facility. Paid for the suite so that we could have the pull out couch. It was so nasty that we couldn't use it. One of the worse hotel experiences! I can't wait till morning to get out of here! Do not stay here!!!!

Rooms could be cleaner and front desk ran by young people that were not friendly - playing on phone - acted like guests were a burden- phone didn't work in room, had to walk to front desk, no light bulb in lamp making room dark. Rooms were spacious and pretty nice. Liked being able to bring pet without problems. No carpet...which u liked very much. I will definitely stay again.

The place was so cute outside and even the lobby was nice! But the cleanliness of the room was not up to par. Floors needed vacuumed and the walls were nasty. Definitely wasn’t going to use the coffee pot. After a shower and sleeping here, I did not feel clean :(

  • 2/5 Jessica C. 1 year ago on Google
Beds were SUPER comfy and staff were wonderful! However, all of the smoke detectors were missing from the room and the cleaning needs attention. The was some weird splatter (blood? coffee?) on the curtain and window frame, microwave wasn't clean, and there were small orange spots on the top layer of bedding. Shower took a long while to heat up and the pressure wasn't great. Internet was available was SUPER slow. Not bad for one night, but wouldn't want to stay longer.

Will absolutely stay here again and again. Very clean and quiet, (mostly) I did hear a child running down the hall, which woke me up, but I wanted breakfast, so it worked out. The continental breakfast was phenomenal, and fresh and very good and well maintained by staff.

Upon arrival we noticed how dirty this hotel was. When we got to our room, the smell was nauseating. We opened the windows and still couldn't get rid of the smell. We asked to change rooms, and the woman at the desk was very polite and accommodating. The new room smell wasn't that much better, but given that it was 830 pm, we just stayed. The banister on the left hand side of the stairwell is a lawsuit waiting to happen. The 1st room, the TV stand had been chewed on by a dog. The 2nd room, bathroom was clean. The beds were extremely soft and you rolled to the middle. The breakfast was very good. Plenty of options. The reason for the 1 star is because of the extreme filth in the hallways, elevator and rooms. Again breakfast was excellent as well as the employees we encountered.

  • 3/5 Linda B. 7 months ago on Google
Room we had was a king. Very spacious! Clean. Quiet. TV and Internet leave a lot to be desired. No channel guide and selection was poor. Could use a little bit of a face lift such as carpet, new caulking and replacing some cracked/chipped floor tile in bathroom. But it was a very nice hotel!

  • 4/5 Marcus W. 1 year ago on Google
Pros: Cool pool that connects to outdoor pool Nice welcoming lobby Friendly staff Good breakfast Cons: Tiles in bathroom floor are loose Broken lamp Broken clock Overall review: Nice hotel, exactly what you would expect of a two star hotel. I can't give it 5 star due to the loose floor tiles. The building is definitely showing signs of wear, however they appear to be addressing that by a renovation sign in the lobby. Would recommend for someone looking for a 2-star hotel.

Nice layout of this hotel but it is kind of a dump. Queen beds were comfortable but the sofa bed had a mattress that was just like a cover over springs. The sheets on the queen bed didn't fit. They were probably for the sofa bed. The indoor pool was cloudy. The outdoor pool was also cloudy and tile missing around the water line. The hot tub outside was cold water. When I went to look at the pools after dinner, the big cart with garbage was still by the dining area. The door for the laundry chute on the 2nd floor was wide open. Towels were still on the floor in the hallway. When I went to my car, there was nobody at the front desk. I came back in and still nobody at the front desk. Shouldn't there be someone there at all times? Room was nice and sound proof though.
