Located along Upper East Coast Road beside the formal "The Little Red House". This is a very established restaurant and has been around for a long time. Once you are inside the place, you will feel familiar. This is how we remembered a seafood restaurant when we were kids. Food here is very good, old school and the price is very reasonable. The are free parking within the restaurant but it will be full during meal time. Do not worry, they do provide valet parking. The place is clean and staff are helpful and cheerful as well. Highly recommended!!!

First time I ate was in someone house but the dishes was cold when I eat it, the food turns out was super good in flavour. So decided to visit the place myself which has a very nostalgia feeling to me as very similar to the place I had in Malaysia when I was young. The food served was good in flavour. The squid was crunchy. The black pepper beef cube was super good, the pepper fragrance was nice. Still super like the yam banana scallop. The coffee ribs was super good too. But this round, the signature chicken was sold out, it was super disappointed.

10/10 for Black paper crab, it was surprisingly excellent with the black spicy sauce. This one is the best dish I have so far in Singapore. Chili crab was good as other restaurants. The traditional grilled chicken was also excellent with crispy skin and soft meat. 63 SGD for each crab. Very good deal! We waited for 1 hr for the crabs. The service and management was bad. Needed to call servers so many times for food. 10/10 Food 6/10 Service

It is rare to find restaurant like this in Singapore. The building is an huge old colonial house. Dining can be in the air-con hall or outdoor at the back of the building. A nice open outdoor space. I also like the open parking managed by a group of friendly valets. The service in the restaurant is very friendly. Many attentive staffs attending to huge crowd of dinners. Food is good, of course. Roast chicken and crispy iberico pork with romaine lettuce is highly recommended. Home made tofu is nice. The food arrived quite fast even though it is crowded. Price is reasonable. Best of all, no corkage charge if u bring your own wine. And they even provide nice glass to go along. Overall, it is a pleasant and enjoyable dining experience.

Great ambience, great service and great food. All food taste delicious. Most recommended food of all is the Fried Black Pork..this is extremely the best fried pork i ever eaten 10/10 for it! It is close to 30 bucks. The hk style fish taste similar to wedding banquet. Old school taste if you wish to remember the past. Free parking in the area.

Situated along Upper East Coast Road. Hua Yu Wee has been around for decades. Accessible by public transport easily and ample parking if driving there. Nothing much to say as the many great reviews about them are true. Food quality is great. Every dish without fail tasted absolutely good. $204 for the 5 dishes ordered. Crab 1.1kg Fish about 700g.

Hey fam is been a minute. Gotta make time for family and friends. Well today we are at Hua Yu Wee Seafood Restaurant. A.k.a. “I’ve heard great things about that place”, aka” I’ve always wanted to go there”, aka “That restaurant still open?”, aka “Man that car park is always full”, aka “Isn’t that a house?, aka “Best seafood restaurant and Chili Crab in the city”. Whatever you call it it don’t matter. The food here is elite, the service amazing and the vibes just nice. How that saying goes, east side what side?

Food portion was huge and filling. Place was really packed on a Saturday evening. Glad we managed to booked a table on a weekend dinner as my aunt said it's not easy to reserve. Service was great and price is reasonable. All dishes were good except for roasted chicken which was quite tough and we didn't enjoy it. However overall experience was great. Would definitely come back again

Probably the best seafood restaurant with a very reasonable price point , family friendly and very crowded. Chili Crab portion is generous, they added some additional chili sauce on top of the authentic ketchup, make the dish go another level, a must try definitely. Please do take note that it will take around 30min waiting time so make sure you order a combination of everything to pace well. Steam prawn in huadiao wine is the king of all dish, simple delicate and fresh , each prawn is XL size, another must have. Steam seabass with soy sauce is meeting the standard , fish is fresh .

Food is really good. Prawn is fresh and ordered drunken prawn. Sambal kangkong is also great and tasty. The tea is also very refreshing and good after the meal.

First time in this restaurant. Feels like in MY village environment. Weather this evening was cooling. Ordered 2 kinds of crab. The butter crab 900g and steam crab 900g. Per kilo charge is $85. Cereal prawns, Soon Hock fish steam and Lala clam fried with garlic and cut chillies. Not to be missed is a plate of Kai Lan. All dishes tasted awesome. Not salty, very fresh seafood and cooking style was amazing. Will definitely come back very soon. Amber parking lots and even if space is full, no worries they have velet parking. Overall spend about $200+, thanks to my lovely son.

Got a variety of seafood back when dining was still permissible in a bigger group! Did not regret travelling all the way East for a glorious affordable and quality seafood range, like chilli crab, fresh prawn, bamboo clam and others! We sat al-fresco with enough fans overhead for a cool, comfortable experience! Grateful to have gotten a slice of this heritage business from the '50s!

Wa.... Having dinner @ Hua Yu Wee was like having dinner at a friend house. The staff were friendly and the food were super nice. Posted the photos of the wonderful food I have with family members. It is super important to make a reservation first before going to the restaurant.

Our very regular dining place. Been here many times and years. Food is good and reasonably priced. Their seafood were all live. They have aircon and non-aircon seatings. Make sure you reserve your table as there is no way to get a table if you walk-in.

Our family ordered the 5pax dinner set. Food are good & tasty but would suggest order individual dishes instead of the set. We love the fried black pork, prawns are fresh & big. The deep fried tofu is nice too.

Always just amazing! Haven't visited Singapore for 5 years but used to love this place when we lived there. Love the waitress ladies and their Singapore Airlines outfits still! Service always a bit slow because they are so busy but just relax and enjoy the balmy noisy outdoor, a cold tiger beer and some of the best Singapore Chinese food in the country!

One of the better seafood restaurants that you can get in the east in a very traditional setting. Food is fresh even for takeaway. There is a discount off the price on the menu for takeaway as the prices in the menu seems to include service charge. By the way, the yam paste is not too bad!

Visited this seafood restaurant with friends and family during my stay in Singapore. The food was absolutely delicious with their speciality being the “chili crab” I also managed to try their coffee ribs which were absolutely divine. The silver fish fried rice was definitely worth trying which is a type of salt fish mixed in with the rice. The Hor Fun was also great, so from a good perspective it was all exceptional. The seating is set outside with large tables and although it did feel kind of warm there were plenty of fans to help combat the heat.

My daughter read the review and that was how we ended up here for dinner. BUT I only give 3 STARS because I dont think the dishes are to die for. Dont find anything special about the black pepper crab either. There's another dish we ordered which was the steamed fish but I forgot to take a picture. Fish with soya sauce was fine cos how can anything go wrong? Fried Crispy Baby Squid was not bad. We ordered pepper & Chilli crab but pepper crab was served and had to ask what happened to the Chilli crab, & when we asked the waitress, she spoke in Mandarin about some eggs blah blah and with the buzzing all around, I dont know what the delay was & later we said if not cooked yet, CANCEL!! Kangkong had too much stalks. Yu Char Kway was salty. Cereal Prawns opp my hone coffeeshop tasted better than here. Fried rice (forgot to take pic too) was fine. Overall, food not pleasing to our taste buds. We sat in the aircon area which was very noisy n had to talk at the top of our voices. Better to take tge outdoor seating if possible.

Food is exceptionally good except service is a bit slow but the team is already trying their best. U need reservations esp on weekends as it was full house when we visited. Place is a bit crammed as they try to squeeze as many tables inside. It is in the open. Only a few tables in the small house or bldg. So do be casual as it might get a bit hot at times.

Food is bad, freaking took an hr for the crabs but it was not bad and that is the only thing that can pass in the restaurant. Service staff are old so don’t expect too much. The whole place is very noisy, not a ideal place where you want to talk to your friends, literally shouting at each other.

First time here, super nice food and reasonable price! The ambience was great too I feel nostalgia and is like back to Malaysia, it was a Saturday night and a full house. I am extremely impressed with their service didn't need to wait long for each dish to be served one after another, All of the dishes is just so savoury!! All my family members loved the food!! I will keep going and try all their signature dishes.

Lucky they give me reservation no. and was recorded. Look forward to next visit and hope will be better because this is 老字号。。must support

Friendly family style service. Reminds me of going Chinese restaurants during the 1980s during childhood. I like the black pepper crab and especially like the seafood horfan. Its really interesting. The baby squid is very well done.

Food quality is nice with affordable price! Seems a bit short handed and service could be better if it’s solved. Good for gathering place with both locals and foreign friends.

Went for an early dinner at this iconic restaurant in Upper East Coast Road. Reminisce of the seafood restaurants that stretched along this road all the way to bedok end / corner, 50 years ago. Parking was a breeze when we reached there at 5pm. Decided to dine in the interior air-conditioned dining hall. Alfresco dining is available at the rear of the main dining hall. Serving staff were attentive and diligent. The serving of dishes were relatively brisk after our orders were taken. While we were dining, the restaurant gradually filled up with diners and the interior dining hall was full. By the time we went to retrieve our car, the Car Park was completely full and the restaurant valets were busy directing and assisting incoming vehicles. Food review: Coffee Pork Ribs : good boneless ribs with and adequate hint of coffee flavour. Cereal Prawn : good sized de-shelled prawns with adequately flavourful cereal base. Kampong Chicken Soup : Good (staff will facilitate takeaway in plastic containers, for any leftover soup.) Yang Zho Fried Rice : Average Baby Kailan : Average Feng Sha Chicken : Good boneless chicken done to perfection without being too dry, comes with a tangy green dipping sauce which complements the chicken quite well. Sotong You Tiao : Good Sliced Fish with ginger and green onions : Good Soya Pudding : average

I was introduced to this Singapore landmark during a recent holiday. Such a festive atmosphere with many birthday celebrations. Great food of the highest quality. The coffee ribs were out of this world.

A great place to bring one's parents or grandparents. It brings back a lot of great memories for them. Food was affordable and delicious. We didnt have to wait long for the food either. Crab was also reasonably priced. However, I find that they are rather short staffed and we often had to wait long for someone to serve us.

A hidden gem of a restaurant. This place screams tradition and serves up classic Singaporean Chinese dishes in the most authentic and old school way you can think of. Everything is amazing but be sure to try to the chilli crab, roast chicken, hor fun and yam paste dessert. Free valet parking is included.

Good seafood. Crab were fresh. But chilli crab more sweet than spicy. Be pack ng pepper crab was good. Baby squid a bit salty, not crunchy enough. Overall good value for quality seafood and zhichar.

Excellent seafood restaurant + super reasonable prices! If you are after old school seafood fair (like how it tasted at UDMC East Coast 15 years ago), come to HYW Seafood! Food is good and they were served quickly. Staff are also very friendly! Parking is a squeeze but valet is available so it makes it fuss free! Highly recommended. Will come back again to try the other dishes. 👍

Incredible place and even better staff. The two women that assisted us were awesome and super kind. It was refreshing to speak with them and peruse the menu with their recommendations. Food was excellent. Will definitely buy again 10/10. #bussin

Very packed for dinner. It's a traditional Chinese restaurant. Honestly the food is great, serving is fast. The signature chicken, black pepper beef and the homemade tou foo are very tasty. Will come again. Rem to reserve a table as it's always packed.

Authentic seafood restaurant with old school vibes! We ordered the: - black pepper crab (very fresh! The flesh came off the shell so easily and the meat tasted sweet. But take note that the black pepper is a bit spicy) - drunken prawns (very delicious soup. Most of the prawns were fresh) - coffee pork ribs (generous amounts of sauce. Some pieces of pork were a bit fatty though) - eefu noodles (this was nice and tasty)

  • 5/5 Yuchen L. 2 years ago on Google
We went for the chili grab but it was completely sold out. Perhaps we will try to pre order next time. The drunken shrimp was really good! The bbq sea bass was amazing as well. They really know sea food
