WOW! Honestly I am truly amazing by Hamerton Zoo, When your driving towards the zoos location you start thinking to yourself "where am I going". Upon arrival to the car park I thought it doesn't look that big.. well how wrong was I! Honestly it was amazing here, so many different animals to see, and they are clearly expanding which is fantastic to see. They have a lovely cafe inside and HUGE play park for the kids. The staff are really amazing and happy to help and talk with you. Overall I would highly recommend, I will be returning in the future! Thank you!

A hidden gem in the middle of nowhere. They have tigers, camels, bears, meerkats, a wide variety of apes and monkeys, and a lovely walk-through aviary with budgies and finches. They are always improving the exhibits so don't be surprised to see work going on. There's a decent children's play area and a train ride. A lot of the walkways are covered, including a picnic area, so it's still a decent place to go when it's raining. It's probably best to take your own food because the cafe is rather expensive (approaching £4 for a slice of cake).

Hamerton Zoo is a surprising little gem nestled near Peterborough. Despite its modest size, the zoo offers a delightful experience with a diverse range of animals and interactive exhibits. It's a perfect outing for families or animal lovers looking for a unique and enjoyable day trip.

Very enjoyable experience visiting this zoo with my 21 month old son. There is a good variety of unusual and interesting animals and luckily none were hiding when we visited. Its a good size and I particularly liked the layout which allowed for a good flow even when quite busy.

We had a fun day out with the kids. However, there were some issues to be aware of: they don't allow you to bring your own food - we had our own lunch though as I wanted my kids to have healthy food. The train: we waited in line for more than 30 minutes. I was the only adult with my little ones and they got restless - it would be better to have two adults so one can take them to the playground while the other one holds the spot. The train ride itself cost £3.5 per person and I paid by card to the train driver. The ride itself was disappointing. You only see a few moving dinosaurs and that's it. It lasted around 7 minutes. I expected a longer ride. The kids were happy, but the oldest toddler asked: is that it?! Apart from that, yes, it was a good day out for kids. Would I go again? Probably not, once is enough for what it is.

A great day out for people of all ages, as the zoo is child friendly and easy to work your way round if elderly. Also, the zoo is very accessible to the disabled and staff will be willing to help if needs be. A spectacular range of animals from the tigers all the way to sloths! The enclosures are spacious enough for the animals to exhibit their normal behaviours and the quality of life for them in this zoo is good. The zoo also breeds animals and you can see the babies during the visit! If you love animals I would definitely recommend this zoo!

We had a great day out at Hamerton Zoo, lots of unusual animals that you are unlikely to see in other zoos, some of the species there are the only of their kind in the UK. We do love the smaller zoos for their family feel. Went with my 9 and 4 year old boys and they loved it too.

Nice little zoo. Perfect for families with kids, but still enjoyable for all. Can comfortably see everything in about 3-4hours. Food and drink available, but offerings are basic. Place seemed accessibility friendly.

A really lovely place to spend the afternoon with the family, daughter loved feeding the alpacas and the train ride was fun ,it has a good children's play area and plenty of benches and under cover area for picnic, cafe is a little pricey tho, overall we are looking forward to coming back next year

We live in Bedford and I'm not sure how I missed this zoo - it was a lot of fun! I'm not sure what I was expecting but nothing of this scale or variety; the enclosures are all a decent size, animal encounters abound (my favourite was the indoor aviary with an impressive amount of budgies free flying and nearly taking you out) and there are some rarer species we were really surprised to see: cheetahs, kookaburra, dingoes, galahs, camels, lynx, anteaters... the list goes on. It was a very enjoyable visit, even with the play area closed due to rain. We also had lunch at the cafe and I can vouch for the food. Online price for tickets is £1 cheaper but they add on £1 booking fee per person so no difference. We'll be back!

The kids were excited to see animals they hadn't seen before. They counted two cheetahs, five zebras, and five camels. The kids were thrilled to see the bears and the turtles. I was disappointed with the Dino train ride; it shouldn't be something we must pay for on top of everything else. £3.50 each for three children and the adults. There are some areas in need of some maintenance work; however, overall, not bad. It is a terrific idea to have an outdoor play area for the kids. We spent the day in the outdoor play park and exploring the zoo. However, seeing the cheetah going around in circles, separated from the other cheetah, was a bit disheartening. I can't wait until my kids can experience such wild animals in their natural habitat in the Safari.

We went on a weekday during the summer holidays on a reasonably chilly wet day. The park was busy but didn't feel overfull like some places can when busy. All the emails looked well cared for and we saw a range of animals from birds to meerkats to tigers to bears and many others in-between. There is a big play park that was enjoyed by many children. For roughly £3.50 each you can go a train which takes you to see giant moving dinosaurs. There are many picnic tables around the zoo including some undercover. I would recommend taking a picnic the food on sight was very very expensive. A great day out and you could easily spend the whole day at the zoo. If you are a carer you get in for free by showing proof on the gate.

What an amazing zoo. It caters for people of all ages and abilities,I.e. wheelchair and pushchair friendly. Very friendly and polite staff, reasonably priced and tasty food. The animal enclosures are fairly big for each animal. Sadly not all animals came out to play but that's animals for you, and a reason to return another time

A lovely little local zoo with a nice variety of animals (including tigers!) that all seem well cared for. They always seem to be working on improving enclosures as well, but I do wish some of the animals had more space. There cafe is nice and offers a decent range of food and drinks, and the play park is a great way to end a visit. During the week it’s always quite quiet as well so if you can I’d definitely recommend visiting then.

Our first day out in over a year and we were on the hunt for a zoo that we hadn't visited, around a couple of hours away. We happened upon Hamerton Zoo Park and decided to pay them a visit and were not disappointed. The first concern we had was safety. Sure more people are vaccinated, but there is still a pandemic on. The park seems to only let people book online for timed slots of 3 hours. This is also more than enough time to view the entire park at a gentle pace. We don't have kids, so it may take longer when they see the epic playground which is available near the cafe! The one way system is designed to keep people safe and works for the most part. Sometimes it's confusing when two one way signs point in different directions and you're not sure if you're going to loop and see everything. The animals on display are fascinating, more so because a lot of them are Australian. It's a rare thing to have a zoo so specialised, but it makes this one very unique. Happy to have finally seen a wombat and kookaburra in the flesh. Definitely worth a visit, but book online in advance.

A lovely zoo, lots of animals I haven't seen before! We were there for about 3 hours, went around twice and had a stop at the cafe. Animals seemed well cared for and quite friendly, a few didn't want to come out until later in the day though! Definitely suggest going around more than once.

The zoo has lots of animals ( exotic/endangered/rate ones). Outdoor play area for kids. Took my 7 yr old and 2.5 yr old(free entry under 3) today. Thoroughly enjoyed the time there. Highly recommended for any families or animal enthusiasts....

Visited Hamerton Zoo Park with my Partner and we had a fantastic day. We loved it so much that we ended up walking round the park twice and were lucky enough to see some of the animals that were previously sleeping or inside their houses the second time around. The park is a lot bigger than expected and they have a great variety of animals, some of which we had never seen or heard of before. Entry was very reasonably priced and I would highly recommend anyone to visit here.

This is a great little zoo for young and old, groups, couple or solo. It is becoming quite pricey, but then where isn't I suppose! Bes to visit outside peak times if you can for the best access/view of the animals. Thoroughly recommend 👌🏻

Used to come here when i was a child. Now i am bringing my children here. Lovely collection of animals. Shame you cannot see the dinosaurs unless paying and going on the train. I dont trust my smallest to sit still on the train just yet so cannot use it

Great day out for families. My daughter has come here for her birthday for the last 3 years in a row as she loves it so much. Her favourite animal is the white tiger. The zoo is a good size with many interesting animals to see. It has a train ride which is extra but fun for the kids. Cafe and plenty of picnic tables and a large play area. Highly recommend.

Good establishment. Been there for over 30 years and the team runs a tight ship. Everything is neat and clean and organised and the children loved it. Beware, the carpark is tight if there are a lot of visitors, so use the overflow parking instead, and beware the dozens of puddles while trying to navigate through the car park. Would be 5 stars if the parking-lot was better.

Very nice place to spend a time with all your Family. It is will take all your day.Enjoy. Come to the Zoo by car. Good free parking place. Democratic price for entry. Big place to take a food. You can take yours and take a cap of tee or coffee with sandwich in Cafe. Friendly staff. You can feed animals with food, which you can buy on the Zoo. It is local train which for 3£ pic you up and show Zoo around. Children playground is big with different modules. I strongly recommend to visit this place.

Beautiful little zoo. Wanted to hone my wildlife photography skills and decided to give it a go and o boy I was not disappointed. I imagine the best time to visit it when the weather is cloudy. When it's too hot a lot of animals are doing a very good job hiding from you.

Lovely little zoo. lots of different birds that I have never seen else where before! Perfect size for little ones that love animals and you can get some really nice up close views of animals. The gift shop had some lovely bits and nothing was too overpriced. We will return.

Nice little zoo from know where . Visited hamerton zoo on last winter few months back and felt amazed though its a small zoo it had lots of variety of animals my favorite was the brown bears. Animals were treated well there were enough spaces for animals birds santuary was closed due to bird flu and all other parts were functioning. The most amazing part was the anametronic dinasors my 3 year old enjoyed the train ride going through the missing dinasor paradise and that was magical . There was small caffe which serves basic food and not pricy. There was a childrens play groud also had a nice weekend

What a fantastic place in the area. I can't believe I've never been there before. Great selection including Tigers, Cheetah, Lemurs, Gibbons & Bears, etc. Definately recommend a visit. I stayed for about 3-3.5 hours so you can spend a nice part of the day there. also has a great outdoor play park for children.

My first visit to Hamerton Zoo Park, i was most impressed by it, and the selection of animals and birds they had there. My favourite bit was the Australian Bird house, with the Budgies, Zebra Finches and the Wombat. The Tigers were very sleepy, so didnt see much of them. Shall have to return on a sunny day. There is a vast picnic area and play park for children and a cafe too. A delightful day out for all the family.

Well what a place. From the outside it looked small but on entering it is huge. There is ample car parking. Inside you have small animals to large animals and spread out nicely. Everywhere you go is on way with signage and sanitizer post everywhere. I felt really safe the whole time. Even in the shop only 2 people are allowed at one time. Most people stuck by the rules. The seating area for picnics is great and lots of space between tables. We took a picnic but you can buy food there. We would go again as didn't see all the animals and were there for 4 hours. Great day out.

Love this place and so do my kids. Not over priced like zoos can be. Normally a quite zoo. The staff are friendly. The thing I like the most is the variety of different animals....cheetahs, anteaters, sloth, tigers, bears. I would love them to maybe invest in more endangered species like rhino, orangutans but I'm sure it's on there list of future plans. Overall amazing place. You can be there an hour or the whole day and they have a play area for the kids to run around....perfect :)

Good zoo, exciting animals I hadn't heard of before, slightly specialising in wild cats, Australian animals and birds. Large enclosures so I felt the animals had enough space. I would have liked to see some talks about the animals from keepers, coupled with feeding so you guarantee seeing the animals. I will be returning to try again seeing the rust bellied cat, the lynx and the wombat.

Reasonable price for what is there. It felt as though we walked Round very quickly and had seen everything despite having a 15 month old walking, which was very slowly. There are some different animals we hadn't seen before and the size of the donkey's... they were huge!. Following good social distancing guidelines with wash stations and sanitiser stations scattered around and trying to keep people safe whilst giving us a nice time at the park. Food wasn't the best but we only had jacket potato with tuna and cheese and beans. The potato felt stale and the cutlery kept breaking trying to cut it. But the children were happy so it was a good day. The toilets are very old and the doors very stiff to open so would not be ideal for a child on their own in the toilet.

It was a lovely day out all the animals were beautiful and the staff was helpful and happy to explain about the animals to us. I wasn’t a fan of the food it seems a bit to quick fix’s and rushed to prepare. The park has a one way system but you have to buy the book to get a map and there is no map around the park, so you can miss out on areas if your not careful. I would recommend staying around till feeding time and bring a battery charger for your phone because you will want to record these magnificent animals.

I have been to a lot of zoos in the area and I think this was one of the worst. We went around twice as we didn't see any animals the first time. The few we did were too far away. A lot of the enclosures were named wrongly. You would be expecting to see something and there would be something completely different in its place. Much of it resembles a building site and we didn't see any staff while we were there. Almost £20 each also which was poor value to travel to the middle of nowhere and wander around a building site with an occasional bear.

This is a fantastic place. I've been to most of the big zoos which cost a lot more to get in and they don't compare to this place. Lots of unusual animals which you can get very close to, very friendly staff, great play area for the kids. They also seem to change/improve it constantly which is good. I highly recommend it.

Took our Granddaughter was a lovely day and plenty to see and do. You can take a picnic or there is a cafe serving hot and cold drinks and hot food such as pizza hot dogs and sandwiches. We booked on the web site before we went, there are animal talks and then a children's play area with good play equipment where you can end the tour. They are upgrading and making new enclosures for new animals and to meet the growing needs of the Zoo, the cafe has been upgraded too.

Lovely zoo. Small and easy to do in the one day, but still plenty to see and a few animals not kept in other UK zoos. Animals were active and had good, clean enclosures with obvious enrichment. We went on a very wet day, but lots of the walkways had covers, making it ideal for a wet day visit. There was also a reasonably priced little shop and cafe

We really enjoyed our trip here with the kids. Many animals that you can't see in other zoos and that we hadn't seen before. The animals look very well looked after and the information about them was good. Relatively compact compared to sine of the larger zoos, but this meant we could return to enclosures where animals were not out and we managed to see everything. There layout of the zoo is good, lots of covid safety measures and a playground by the cafe if the kids/ parents want a break. Recommended.

Booked online which was quicker through the gates. My 18 month old loved it as well as the in laws. Been many times and I love the fact they are upgrading the enclosures. Looks more modern too. Would recommend 100%

Range of animals is good but most enclosures are quite small but not over populated. Relatively well priced but family ticket would be nice addition. Main issue is with Social Distancing. There are signs everywhere for it, telling you what to do and not been updated since 2020. Puts a downer on the mood as we try to move on and back to normal. They need to tone it down pr ideally remove the signage as its all outside anyway:)

Went with our son and wife and their family to celebrate our granddaughters 2nd birthday. It was a brilliant day. Loads of different animals to see and although here were covid restrictions in place, it was done so that it caused no problem what soever. They have a great restaurant with decent prices and choices as well as a great gift shop. Have been going there since my son was young, which is why he chose here to celebrate her birthday. They also have a little train that will take you and the children around some of the exhibits too. The price was really good and as you can see, she and her daddy loved it.

Visited today it was quite windy and cold most of the animals were hiding away which i dont blame them none the less we havent been for a couple of years but the new bear enclosure is fantastic those 3 beautiful bears put a show on for us pushing each other in the water our two children thoroughly enjoyed it we will return in the summer when the play park is open.

A good day out with the kids as a family of 5, with two young teens in tow. It isn't a massive park, but great for a few hours walk. Some enclosure seemed a little small for some of their lemurs, but it's possible they weren't the main enclosures and only used at times? Or we maybe didn't see the whole section as some enclosures had strange layouts. I was a bit concerned that many a fair predators were kept near 'prey' animals which I never great as scent travels, however my kids didn't seem concerned, and despite those minor concerns of mine, I think they have done a great job. There were many animals I hadn't seen before, and their tiger area was fantastic. I think the size of centre is great for younger kids up to 10 ish in age? and has a good park halfway round the one way system. Toilets were clean and spacious, and prices were fair. It's definitely I would recommend to anyone holidaying in the area as we did really enjoy the afternoon we were there.

Lovely little place to go, visited with our grandchildren. Hadn't realised such a place existed so close to home. Very well organized since the pandemic as they use a one way system. You get to see everything. Nice play park at the end for children to let off steam. Only downside which is no fault of the park is that there were alot of wasps about, which made it difficult for some people to enjoy their picnic.

What a lovely day out. The weather was lovely and the animals were out and about having fun in the sun! If you buy tickets online it’s a £1 off however we just turned up and paid. The animals were well looked after and in clean enclosures. A pleasant surprise. Lots of animals and you can feed the goats (20p piece from a dispenser). There are washing facilities near by for your hands. The toilets were very clean. Food was reasonable priced and tasted good. I can recommend the jacket potatoes! The gift shop I though was a little expensive for the gifts on show. Large picnic areas and good swing parks for the little ones. Due to the risk of avian flu the bird enclosure was closed but apart from that you could see many other birds. As a family we will be returning with the older grandson. He will love it! Thanks for a great day out and keep up the good work

Very bizarre place. It felt like stepping back in time, or like it hadn’t been updated since the 80s. The zoo itself did have a large variety of animals but seemed to be predominantly birds unless I missed a section. The keepers seemed very nice and there were a few nice touches such as a little place where you could have a feather that had fallen off one of the exotic birds, but regardless, the entry price was expensive for what it was in my opinion, the disappointing train ride was an extra £3.50 each for about 10 minutes and the gift shop left a lot to be desired. The entrance when driving in looks like you’re turning into a quarry and the gate to the park itself felt like entering a prison. They tried to sell us an overpriced map on the door which we turned down assuming that, like in most zoo parks, there would be a board with a map on within but we found no such thing. So overall I would not recommend.

It is a lovely park and does have some really good animals you wouldn't normally see, we were lucky and the Syrian bears had come out of hibernation, beautiful white tiger and you felt so close to a lot of the animals. It's a bit tired on the outside and on the first half you can very clearly see the old and the new, just needs some a fresh bit of paint and a bit of care. Was a little sad as much as I was absolutely obsessed with the sloths and how active they were it is a small environment for 5 of them.

Superb zoo. It's expanded a lot and is continuing to do so. There are more animals and refurbishment of enclosures is evident. We saw bears tigers 🐆 cheetahs lemurs a sloth and an armadillo among many beautiful species. Its so lovely to see them being re-homed.

A wonderful zoo, full of unusual animals to see. It's totally flat so easy to walk round, a developing zoo meaning more to come. If you like vocal animals then go and listen to this lot! Worth the entry fee, and plenty of places to sit down.

Really worth a visit. Lots of different animals you dont always see at zoos. A good day out for both adults and kids. My 9 year old especially liked the free flying birds.

I’ve visited this zoo many times over the last 20 years but hadn’t visited for about 4 years and it was great to see it still being updated with new enclosures. The animals look well cared for but it was a shame to see one of the bears turning in circles. I hope it doesn’t have boredom issues. Since I visited sone of the walkways are covered over and the paths tarmaced. The under cover dining area is larger than I remember but bees/wasps are a problem (I got stung after picking up a jacket that a bee landed on.) The guide could do with an update as we couldn’t find any zebras but they were in the photos, as was the white tiger that died. My favourite animal was probably the anteater as it looks so fictional! I also love all the small mammals.

We love Hamerton, so many animals and birds to see, its laid out beautifully so not miles to walk for my disabled son. There is a cute little train, £3.50 each so not very cheap for the 5 minutes on it but you do get a really close up look at the leopards which is worth every penny! The staff are always very friendly and helpful, which for us makes a huge difference. The toilets are always clean and accessible, and the cafe and seating area is lovely. All in all a good day out!

Wonderful place for children to go. It was exciting to feed zebras by hand and stand amongst the birds as they flew around our heads. The tiger was about 2 metres away from us and the animals calling to each other at various points throughout the day made it feel like you were in a jungle! Such a great experience for everyone.

👍👍 What a great experience! Steam engine ride for two hours with a fish and chip dinner served on board can't be bad. All the "staff" are unpaid volunteers. The time on the train is 2 hours. If you want a drink from the train bar go early to beat the queue. After that just sit back and enjoy. Very re...
