Amazing tour! The guide (Alex) was super knowledgeable and everything he shared was extremely interesting. You’ll learn a lot about Lebanese culture, art, history, economics and politics through visiting key places in the city. This is one of the most interesting tours I’ve taken anywhere hands down.

I took the green line tour and was fascinated by all the stories about Beirut and Lebanon that Samira told us. You can really feel the passion of a guide by explaining things when she feels them as her story and transmits them to make us reflect. Thanks a lot for your time and lovely dedication ♥

Nadir was a superb guide who gave an authentic and meaningful insight into life in Beirut and its history. We saw many interesting sights and had an enjoyable coffee and lunch stop.

Joined the Green Line tour on a 2-week trip to Beirut - really interesting and our guide (Samira) was great. We learnt about the Lebanese war, architecture and some archeology - would definitely recommend!

I had an exceptional Political tour with Hussein. His depth of knowledge in Lebanese history and politics is truly remarkable, and we were fortunate to have him as our guide.

I'm so glad we did the Alternative Walking Tour. We learned a lot of behind-the-scenes history, and got to see neighbourhoods in Beirut that we likely wouldn't have gotten to on our own. Our guide, Nader, was amazing - lots of good discussion of how politics and history have shaped current events. I would absolutely recommend this for anyone who wants to go beyond the surface level in their time in Beirut.

I had the good luck today of both Aya & Jena guiding what was one of the most interesting and nuanced walking tours I've been on (anywhere). Beirut is a really fascinating place with a deeply complex and challenged recent history. Externally aspects of the city look vibrant, cosmopolitan and modern and some people use the glib soundbite 'resilient' to dismiss the hardships that exist. A short superficial visit to the international commercial areas of the city would cement that unrefined narrative. The hint here is in the title - I booked 'Alternative' hoping for a more human story - and Aya & Jena delivered with a passionate, considered, frank and detailed account, street by street, as to why there is so much more depth to the story and struggle of the people of Beirut. They are both excellent guides who love there city despite the enormous hardships that exist. Highly recommend.

Hands down the best tours I've ever been on while travelling anywhere. I went on the Political Walking Tour in Beirut and the Alternative Baalbek Tour (hosted by Alternative Lebanon) Our guides for both of the tours were extremely knowledgable, passionate, and actively care very deeply for what they will share on the tour. If you're into history, culture, politics and deeper conversation about what's really beneath the surface of a place, this will be for you.

We did the political tour mid-September and it was hands down the best experience of our whole trip to Lebanon. Hussein was the most knowledgeable tour guide we've ever had, explaining all the complicated pages of political and sociological history of Lebanon in way that was objective and easy to follow. It is a must do tour in order to put a better context around everything you see in the country. We cannot thank you enough, greetings from Spain!

I had the privilege of encountering Hussein as our tour guide, which made for an ideal weekend experience in Beirut. Hussein‘s extensive and solid academic expertise lends him a profound understanding of his own city and country, and I greatly admire his deep appreciation for their history, culture, and people. I feel extremely fortunate to have gained insights into Lebanon's recent history during this tour and to have had the opportunity to meet with him.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Alternative Political Tour of Beirut today. It was an exceptional experience. Our guide, Hussein, was knowledgeable, engaging, and caring throughout this remarkable walk through the nuanced and layered history of Beirut and Lebanon. He managed to ensure the material was accessible without compromising on the complexity. I highly recommend this tour for anyone that wants an unforgettable introduction to the history and politics of this unique and resilient city.

Disappointingly, my experience was less engaging than for other reviewers. Nadir did indeed give deeply personal insights into contemporary Beirut but after 2.5 hours we had barely covered any ground and learned very little about myself he history of the city we were walking through. I was hoping to see more of Beirut so, being short on time, I ended up leaving the tour early. Maybe the number of participants (approx 14) made things slower.

I took part in the political tour and it was incredibly informative and eye opening. Our tour guide Hussein was knowledgeable and open to answering all questions posed by the group. While I was familiar with some of the topics that were covered I really felt that the tour put things into perspective for me and I gained a much deeper appreciation for the geopolitical situation here!

The tour was excellent. I have gained insight into Lebanese society, its history and politics. Our guides were very well informed and friendly. We have met people and made contacts. One of the best things we did during our first visit to Lebanon.

I highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to learn the history of the Beirut area through the lens of local people. Our group was intimate and friendly. I met people from all over the world and as a Lebanese-American felt more connected to my heritage through this tour. The tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly.

This walking tour will give you a new, exciting, unique, straightforward and most of all, honest experience of Lebanon. Nader (our guide) will tell you stories, that will make you laugh, smile and at times stunned or emotional. He will guide you around architecture, food, historical events, beautiful gardens, and abandon cinemas. It's a walk where you see the beauty, discuss the bad, and ends up, with you eating good (flame-grilled 🔥) - So if you choose to visit this “country of trauma” (Naders words), this tour has, my uttermost deepest recommendation! Shukran!
