This place is amazing. I found books that I did not find anywhere else. Even they can bring books from abroad. I met them first in the Beirut book festival that happens every year. They are helpful and well knowledgeable so you are not just buying a book; you are there in a learning process.

This is a good place to take in some culture. A serious blast from the past of anything cultural, that doesn't leave out the present either. Absolutely love the shop and the People that run it!

If you are in Beirut looking for books, that’s the place to visit. You will definitely find some of the rarest books at Alfurat. The owner is awesome and helpful. Hope you can find what you are looking for.

This is one of the best and authentic bookshops you can find not only in Beirut but in Lebanon. You can find a collection of books, especially vintage and rare books. Definitely recommended if you are a book lover and also a movie and postrps lover because you can find a collection of posters for almost every single movie (Lebanese and Egyptian) since this industry started. The owner is passionate about his work which makes your visit much more enjoyable 😁😍

A must add place to see during your visit to Beirut! Reviews from the locals were 100% accurate. Truly a wonderful bookstore with a lot of character, thanks to the owner, his lovely family, and his amazing collection of not only diverse and rare books, but equally so movie posters from around the world dating as far back as the 1930s. When I asked the owner where does the name of his bookstore come from he said that Alfurat is the Arabic name for the Euphrates, which he said allowed civilization, and thus culture to prosper around the river. And like the Euphrates, may his humble bookstore continue to allow culture to prosper in Lebanon for years to come. The owner then jokingly said he thought naming his bookstore after a river just like Amazon did in the US would mean his bookstore would one day also become a huge success, maybe even the "Amazon of the Middle East" haha. Finally, I have to thank the owner and his family for kindly telling me where I could find the best baklava in Beirut to bring back with me to the states to share with family, in addition to a classic piece of Arabic literature translated to English that accompanied me on my long flight back. Thank you, Abboudi! My visit to your bookstore truly is a memorable highlight from my visit =)

This place is a gem! The owner, Abboudi, has a large collection of Arabic books, as well as Middle Eastern posters that are unique and you won’t find anywhere else. Abboudi is friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to help and accommodate your needs. You can get lost in his bookshop because of the variety of books and posters he has. Check this place out - you won’t regret it!

Cool shop with vintage books and posters. Difficult to find, in a basement in an alleyway next to Kalei. Check their website online too, where they have more posters on display than in the shop. The guy working there has great knowledge and good facts about the posters. They also sell reprinted posters.

An avid reader's gate into the world of books but it doesn't stop there, the bigger surprise lies in the collection of vintage movie poster from the golden age of Arabic cinema. The staff is super helpful and the owner, Abboudi Bou Jawdeh is an encyclopedia of books and movies.

The best place in town for graphic poster design, arabic art and vintage movie poster lovers. A huge collection of original prints, from local to european or american movies. Very rare items in a great condition. Plus a large reprints stock. the owner is super kind and knows a lot about. A must in Beirut. Thank you.

I have a very small collection of film posters but being in this incredible shop I rekindled my fascination with such beautiful works of art. The shop has an incredibly detailed collection for sale of posters from around the world(Arab, European,US,Japanese etc etc). But the real pleasure of a visit is meeting the owner Abboudi who has written extensively on the history of the Lebanese film industry (he has written a beautiful book that is available at the shop)but also has an encyclopaedic knowledge of film posters from all over the world. He is also a patient and informative host, who will go that extra mile to make sure you find something you are looking for. It is worth looking online before you visit or talking to Abboudi about what you like or are looking for as the number of items for sale is so vast. finally the attached book shop has am extensive collection of Arabic language books which is considered one of the best in Beirut. No trip or visit is complete to Lebanon is complete without a trip to this remarkable shop.

Abboudi and his business are amazing! I wanted to have some of his poster prints at my home in the US, and he was kind enough to arrange for them to be sent to me. He was extremely helpful every step of the way, making sure that I was getting exactly what I wanted at a reasonable price. Cannot recommend this place enough!
