A
must
add
place
to
see
during
your
visit
to
Beirut!
Reviews
from
the
locals
were
100%
accurate.
Truly
a
wonderful
bookstore
with
a
lot
of
character,
thanks
to
the
owner,
his
lovely
family,
and
his
amazing
collection
of
not
only
diverse
and
rare
books,
but
equally
so
movie
posters
from
around
the
world
dating
as
far
back
as
the
1930s.
When
I
asked
the
owner
where
does
the
name
of
his
bookstore
come
from
he
said
that
Alfurat
is
the
Arabic
name
for
the
Euphrates,
which
he
said
allowed
civilization,
and
thus
culture
to
prosper
around
the
river.
And
like
the
Euphrates,
may
his
humble
bookstore
continue
to
allow
culture
to
prosper
in
Lebanon
for
years
to
come.
The
owner
then
jokingly
said
he
thought
naming
his
bookstore
after
a
river
just
like
Amazon
did
in
the
US
would
mean
his
bookstore
would
one
day
also
become
a
huge
success,
maybe
even
the
"Amazon
of
the
Middle
East"
haha.
Finally,
I
have
to
thank
the
owner
and
his
family
for
kindly
telling
me
where
I
could
find
the
best
baklava
in
Beirut
to
bring
back
with
me
to
the
states
to
share
with
family,
in
addition
to
a
classic
piece
of
Arabic
literature
translated
to
English
that
accompanied
me
on
my
long
flight
back.
Thank
you,
Abboudi!
My
visit
to
your
bookstore
truly
is
a
memorable
highlight
from
my
visit
=)
