Fantastic for a one-day trip near Sofia. The museum and the fortress are very interesting, there is an audio guide included in the admission fee (only 7 BGN, free for kids up to 6). Really nice playground for children 2 - 12 just outside the fortress. Very well organized & tidy. Convinient parking lot in the village and right next to the museum. Great nature and views.

A nice place with great scenery and convenient environment. Especially suitable for one day trip along with family and friends. It has a nice playground as well. For the ones who feel more adventurous and brave, I recommend to take the Trail of Health up to the side of the fortress. Just make sure you're well stretched out before going.

Nice place to visit nearby Sofia. You can go to the castle by foot or by funicular. If you choose to walk, take the Trail of Health. Just make sure you have comfortable shoes. The view from the top is outstanding! There is an audio guide included for smartphones in Bulgarian and English. Lots of playgrounds and a few nice places nearby (Belchin) for lunch or just a coffee.

Amazing place with amazing view. It has a small museum, however it is nothing special and I don't suggest it. Anyway The place is suitable for children and is easily accessible via car or you can take a short 30min walk from the nearby Belchin village. There is something like a lift which you can use to skip the walk and it is also pretty cool but doesn't always work. It is really good place for children as there is a big playground and a fortress that's pretty interesting.

Tsari Mali Grad is a ruined castle that used to serve as a shelter for two important trade routes. It is located southeast about 1 hour drive from Sofia near the town of Samokov. Today, parts of the fortress are still preserved with two towers that contain a museum and document the mutual history of the region. One can get to the entrance either on foot or by funicular. Afterwards, you can take a leisurely walk around the extensive grounds. For me an insider tip when visiting Bulgaria.

Very beautiful place for relax, short walks and chill in the nature. The Roman fortress is very interesting, there is a lot of ancient history at this place.

Great site, beautifully maintained with lots of interesting artefacts. There is an ecopath to walk up or you can take a lift or drive.

Very beautiful and interesting location for a day walk. For the Tsari Mali Grad, you can get a card where you can scan an QR code and from there to enjoy informative and enjoyable descriptions of different sightings. Nearby there are many good locations for eating in the city and other activities.

Interesting historical attraction with plenty of good exhibitions. Lovely nature and wonderful kids’ area. The entry fee of 10 BGN + 5 BGN for the funicular per adult it is a bit overpriced.

Went twice, each time fascinated by the lift and bridge. There's stuff for everyone here. Nature, Scenery, History and archaeology and architecture, Food?, Lift and bridge, entertainment, etc.. ✅Hiking experience if you want ✅ Fresh air ✅ Good vibes ✅ For everyone Warning ⚠️ could get boring

Worthy touristic fortress for visit. Clean and green. There is very interesting lift which is a part from the attraction. About 45 min away from Sofia by car.
