Went here for lunch. Lovely food with vegetarian option and reasonably priced. Not only are the food super tasty and fresh but the layout is beautiful too. I absolutely love the cheese cake I got. The interior is fantastic and brought you back in time the moment you stepped into this place. Naturally good for social distancing if your group can get into one of the boxes. The only sad thing about the place is that some previous visitors have let their own “marks” by carving into the beautiful wooden surface throughout the place.

First visit to Belfast. This pub is definitely a place to visit during any further visits to Belfast. A pub with real character and probably unique. The booths certainly give it a real atmosphere. This visit was just for a drink and no food.

Always try and visit here when in Belfast, great food, great atmosphere and great Guinness! I love the idea of the booths and such a good idea to book one of these for a meal if you have a small party or you're with family or friends. My Granny came here when she was married so it's a special place for her and us. Love it.

What a great experience visiting a local pub while here in Belfast. Staff amazing and the food and pints all fantastic. There were 4 of us and we all tried different menu items. Loved the mussels myself. Great for both locals and tourists.

Really enjoyed my meal here. The oysters were DELICIOUS. Not sure if they were really high quality or if the mignonette was just GREAT but they were delicious enough that I ordered extra. Really reasonably priced too!! I got the Irish stew also and it was delicious. I wanted to try the sticky toffee pudding but they were out :( I guess they make more for dinner? I was there for very late lunch. Service was very slow with a pretty empty dining room but the seats were comfortable enough that I didn't mind. Free wifi if you have o2 :)

Great service and nice place to get a pint. They have private booths but you need to reserve ahead. One of the oldest pubs in Belfast. Must visit.

Absolutely loved the setting and the mood in this place. It was the first place I was advised to visit, being that it's across the road from the bus station where shuttles from the airport terminate; but I spent more time there only on my last day in Belfast. Impressed by the fact that the pub has been going for more than a century, preserving a proud family/national enterprise. So many historical photographs, posters and other mementoes on the wall; the furniture are themselves markers of a time long past -- possibly been there for a half-century or longer. I ordered a whiskey brewed from a region in the country, my way of saluting the country's heritage and wound up what's been a most fulfilling stay.

This is one of those places where ambience is everything. This could almost be an interactive museum. You feel like you are stepping back in time from the brilliantly preserved exterior to the even more impressive interior. Book or secure a snug/Booth at some point during your visit, if possible for the full experience. The food is also surprisingly good.

Stepping into the Crown feels like going back in time. The first floor bar looks elegant, if you come early your group can have their own snugs. Upstairs you can get food in the parlor and it's very nice and it's filled with old pictures. The service here is fast and they have a great mix of pub food and traditional English entrees.

Old beautifully maintained saloon. Great food with pleasant flavours. Nice staff. If going for dinner skip the main entrance and use the side door, up the stairs to the dining area.

You cannot get more traditional pub than this pub in Belfast. Make sure you try the Steak and Ale Pie which is wholesome. I do love my mushroom soup (which is a holiday special). We went early so we can grab a seat at the booth. If you go with a group in the evening, it’s worth reserving a booth all for yourselves.

Upscale pub food and delicious cocktails in a historic and beautiful building. Gin collection is extensive and while the Irish whiskey is less so, they still have a decent selection if that's more your speed.

A lovely pub in Belfast with quality decor and really shows its history. Love the booths designed to keep women separate from men drinkers. Great pub.

I do feel for the waiters as they were without fault. An enticing venue when viewed from the exterior and a welcoming interior once inside. Once seated for lunch.... things went awry. Most dishes ordered and even wines were not available. Once we finally sourced available dishes, we were presented with dismal representations of what was described on the menu. Of 4 dishes, 1 might have barely passed for acceptable. We were left quite saddened by the experience for a venue quite clearly steeped in history and promising so much.

Very superlative experience! The Guinness is very special, no places have the same taste in Ireland! It is very beautiful and interesting. The bus Translink stops in front of it. You can cross the shopping center Europa and entry. Must do it!

Fabulous place to eat and drink. If you are lucky, grab a little private booth - all that pub atmosphere with added privacy. Use the QR code to enjoy table service, and drink in that history and culture this place has to offer.

Generally the number 1 place on any tourist list to visit... How great to find it is well deserving of the accolade! The dark interior is lifted by the cheerful spirits of the patrons, the laughter rising out of the snugs (booths) and the well poured Guinness. We were favoured by the Crown gods and managed to get a snug on a busy Wednesday night so obviously the place gets a 5* review from us😆

What a great pub full of history, never seen a pub with so many snugs. Don't be surprised if whilst enjoying your pint a walking tour does not come through. I had a pint of Belfast Black a really good stout. Staff were very friendly & told us a bit about the place.

CLASSIC BELFAST VIBES Probably one of the best bars in the town and classic too. They designed the infrastructure so attractive and vintage. If you are solo traveller like me then you can enjoy the beer here while standing or sitting at the bar. More than one people or couples need to reserve a table but make sure to reserve it 2 hours earlier because they are usually so busy especially on weekends. I had tried Belfast local beer and taste was good and so as the bar.

Amazingly looking pub, likely the best I've ever seen - definitely recommend to check it out when in Belfast. Stuff was nice but not the fastest, food overall good but multiple items from menu were not available. Overall 4/5

If you are going to Belfast you just have to go here! Fab place. So cute private individual stalls with their own little door. Fascinating ancient decor!! Book a booth and soak up the ambiance 😊😊 dont miss out on this little jewel..

If you're staying downtown in belfast, this must be somewhere you visit. The interior is recognized on the National Historic Trust of Ireland. Absolutely gorgeous and absolutely beautiful. It's like walking back in time. Had a great deal of fun here drinking cold beer and bantering with my fellow Travelers in my own private booth. We did not try the food here but others claim that it was mediocre. I know that the bartenders were not very friendly at first but warmed up to us after we bought our sixth round.

Review of the building rather than the fare on offer here as I only had an Orange Juice so it’s hard to mess that up! Building is owned by the National Trust and in terms of its period decor, is a standout. Was very busy when I visited on a Sunday night.

  • 2/5 Sarah O. 2 years ago on Google
Interior was unusual and quirky. Food was very poor. Salad was tasteless and leaves were brown. Sandwich fell apart and chicken was like sawdust. OK for a drink but wouldn't recommend the food.

Rather a tourist attraction, but worth the visit. Interior is classy, the staff is friendly( but services is quite slow due to a lot of people) and food is decent. Ordered Guinness - never disappoints! would recommend the stew and fish…

Beyond burger is decent enough but doesn’t come with chips like all the other burgers you have to pay for them as an extra due to them not being vegan, staff were fine not blown away by service but also not bad just had to wait a while to wave someone down to be seated. The place is beautiful inside lovely bits of history on the walls but over all it’s just over priced for the quality

The worst service I’ve ever experienced. It took more than twenty minutes after hitting the bell (and following up after 13 minutes, 7 minutes) for someone to come and take an order. No one ever came, so we went to the bar (which we avoided doing, due to covid regulations and the signs posted asking not to order at the bar). Seeing how slow it was, we ordered our next pints (we were half done with our first) when dinner arrived. They never came, 30 minutes later. No opportunities for sauces or water. The woman came back, asked if everything was alright - we told her we were waiting on pints, and then she said they’d be out in two minutes. They never came, 20 minutes later. So we each had one pint in an hour and a half. They tried to charge us for the second for each of us. I tried to ask for a takeaway box (I waited for my drink that never came to have the second half of the meal) and they told me they couldn’t do takeaway boxes due to health and safety reasons, which makes no sense? Perhaps that is true, so I won’t blame them, but I haven’t encountered it anywhere else. The place was not crowded so I have no sense of why everything took so long. Very disappointing; I went out of my way to come here and was very excited. The building was lovely.

The inside is really cool. The prices are okay. The waitress was friendly. This place was recommended to me by a coworker so I had to try it out. I found it quite overhyped though. I had an Old Bushmills whiskey (good and fairly priced). However i wouldn’t recommend having lunch here. The oysters were mediocre and tasted fishy AF - like please rinse them better?? Then I ordered a chicken and avocado sandwich with seasoned fries… except they brought me normal fries that didn’t even have salt on them. Bland. The sandwich itself was fine, also a bit on the bland side. Lastly, the toilets could do with a refurbishment. They look old (and not in a cute way) and one of the doors wasn’t closing. Overall I’d say this place is passable.

Great decor, nice place for drinks, and probably for food, but make sure you don't order the cauliflower burger. Unfortunately, I made that mistake, just because I wasn't in the 'meat' mood. My advice - if you don't know how to make decent vegan burgers, just stop doing it. Or learn and try until it's good enough.

We didn't visit the pub. We had booked lunch upstairs in the dining room. The food was very nice, especially the sticky toffee dessert. A lively atmosphere in a beautiful dining room.

One of the oldest and famous pub in Belfast with full of characters and history! Food and service were better than what I expected. Beers definitely tasted better, unfortunately not all tap beers (and oysters 🦪) were available to order.

So I rather give them 3.7 stars, but have to round up. I came here for breakfast, but apparently it wasn’t an option although the website clearly shows it. And does not say it’s not available. It’s hands down an absolutely beautiful pub. The staff seemed like they didn’t want to be there or help me, but that’s just a personal opinion. The club sandwich was delicious. The chicken avocado was well put together. Unfortunately the chicken was very very bland. French fries were 100% perfect. I really wish I was able to get breakfast, but overall I like this place

This is definitely a must-see. This place has a cool vibe and is just beautiful. If you want to step in and take pictures and walk around, no problem. I got a drink and some food at the bar. It was good. For regular tables, those are in cubbies with doors, so good privacy. There's also an upstairs area. It's not as decorative, and at the time I went up there, it was pretty empty. I loved my experience.

  • 4/5 Fergal S. 2 years ago on Google
It's full of snugs, amazing! Beautiful little atmosphere in every one of them. Feels like being on the Hogwarts express except you're also allowed to order pints from the sweets trolley. What a pub! Service was super slow at the bar even though we were there early. Best go before work finishes as it gets super busy in the evenings and the booths fill up quick.

  • 4/5 Avantika K. 2 years ago on Google
It was a great experience! It was must visit in list of Belfast (as everyone suggests) so we really enjoyed the time. Bushmills is just a normal whiskey not too different in taste. Ambience is really great and servers our really friendly.

  • 3/5 Robertson Marine S. 5 months ago on Google
Had some time to kill so went on a whim after seeing it on a "recommended things to do in Belfast" website. Had a few pints then went upstairs for food. The decor downstairs was interesting to see, and with a booth it would be very easy to get comfortable. Bar staff were quick and friendly. Upstairs the food was disappointing. Very average pub food. But I guess the venue is lauded as a bar rather than somewhere to eat.

Midweek afternoon visit but there was only free upstairs. A good mix of locals & tourists. Around 8 cask & similar keg pumps. Nicholson's Pale Ale was spot on. Only seemed to have barrel glasses upstairs which isn't really a good vessel for Fuller's London Pride & Nicholson's Pale Ale. Food was standard Nicholson's fayre & service attentive. Definitely worth a visit to see the decor.

Beautiful bar with a good atmosphere and friendly staff. A bit cold though. The dinner was lovely, but my portion was unexpectedly small. Especially being the most expensive of 3 ordered dishes, I could never have guessed my dish would be that wee. Grilled seabass and Fish platter are excellent portions. Scallops with pork belly though you need to order an extra side dish :( Very disappointed when waitress bought my plate (3 scallops, 2 wee slices of pork belly and not enough spuds or vegetables to make up for it)

The busses from the airport stop right outside the pub, and for first time travellers, it's a great place to get a perfect Irish experience. The first thing I did on arriving in Belfast was get my first taste of a Guinness at The Crown. The atmosphere is great, lots of people and very rustic and classical architecture.

Nice nostalgic Belfast pub. Don't go often but when I do it is always packed out from locals and visitors to Belfast. Prices are a bit on the up side but location wise, very touristy and definitely a place to visit whilst here
