The Castle was closed but Cave Hill and all it's little trails are excellent. Beautiful views over Belfast day and night. Delighted to find such a gem so close to the city. Highly recommend a visit.

Visited Belfast Castle and the drive up the hill was quite interesting. Parking a few hundred meters away was a slight inconvenience. Inside, not much to explore as it's mainly set up for private event. However, the highlight is the beautiful garden—worth a leisurely stroll. The hilltop offers a stunning view of the sea. Overall, a pleasant experience with the captivating garden and scenic vistas.

You can visit inside for free. Although the castle and its garden are small, it is a very beautiful place where you can spend hours. There is lots of cat statues in the garden. It also has a sea view. I think you can have an event inside.

Beautiful Castle and its stunning grounds. And it's well kept which is good to see. And such a lovely walk around Cavehill trail then we did the Estate trail and wow just taking in the views and scenery. The child just thought it was great and on evenings like tonight it was class. We even took a lil walk to the play park which is a bonus at the end for kids. Definitely recommend here

Belfast castle has breathtaking views. You’re able to walk inside and open many doors to spacious rooms. Come earlier in the day and take advantage of the cave path which will have you walk up a high point of a mountain and allow you to view the city.

Great place with amazing views of the city, a cute garden and a lovely walking path. The restaurant is open upon booking only, but there is a small bar that serves food and drinks throughout the opening hours. You can enter the castle and visit almost all the rooms. The castle grounds are well maintained and have plenty of seating available.

WON'T TAKE YOU LONG! Belfast Castle is a cool place to visit, and it's the starting point if you want to climb the hill that overlooks the city and the bay. However, it won't take you all that long to see - about 10 minutes tops. There's a small exhibit at the basement level (along with a nice coffee shop), and the ground and first floors are mainly ornate stately-home rooms that you can or can't go inside. It's beautifully decorated with chesterfield chairs etc. But that's all there is. Worth a visit if you're around there, but don't go out of your way to see it.

This is a beautifuly preserved castle. It is more of a house than a castle, no defensive features, but it is gorgeous. The gardens are amazing. I spend an hour looking for all the cats hidden in the features. The parkland around it is a great place to walk and hike with friends or family or just go for a nature walk. The views of Belfast are amazing.

This is certainly in my top five places to visit in Belfast. The castle itself is beautiful to look at, but it also hosts beautiful gardens and there are lots of loop walks to be taken around its surroundings. You can either take small loops around the adjacent gardens or take a full hike up the mountain behind. There are a number of carparks that we noted, one either side of the castle, but both were reasonably busy on the two occasions we visited so I would recommend visiting reasonably early to find parking easily. Reasonable fitness is needed fir the longer walks, but the immediate gardens are easy to walk however there are a number of steps that must be navigated.

A stunning location to see Belfast from, it’s totally free to visit and the gardens look amazing. You can walk around the castle with some stunning views on the walk. The staff are lovely and welcoming. A really nice place to visit.

Nice property. Lots of walking trails towards the cave. The castle itself has been stripped bare to accommodate conferences for businesses or weddings. The upper rooms have no access. Nice view of the harbour.

We only visited a few of the rooms upstairs and the views were spectacular. The grounds were very well kept and exploring the castle was interesting. We cut our visit short in favour of the hike to McArt’s Fort.

Located in the beautiful but hilly Cave Hill Country Park the castle, once you've located the way in, is spectacular. It sits on high ground, commanding views over the city and beyond. Entry is free and you can wander round at your leisure. There is a cafe and a restaurant downstairs in the dungeon area which leads out to attractive, well kept gardens with a fountain and seats from which you can enjoy the views.

My pictures simply don't do justice. Please visit their official website to checkout better pictures. An absolute beauty nestled on top of an equally beautiful uphill neighbourhood. The Donegall ancestry knew class! The BELFAST castle is built within the deer park and is the first landmark uphill towards Cavehill, Limestone Quarry and some Estate property lines. The garden is manicured to look stunning from within the castle. The ceiling to floor windows let in a mesmerizing distant view of the Lagan, the sprawling farmlands on the horizon, the bustling city entwined with her lazy suburbs. A view worth enjoying with a quiet glass of beer or wine to classical piano. The City Council has done a great job restoring this magnificent heritage and has kept it open for the public. The staff they've hired are polite and in such nice spirits ! Had a wonderful conversation with Mr. John, such an insightful man with a funny bone! The ballroom immediately brings to mind elegant wedding parties, ballroom events and ballet recitals. I recommend the City council hold a high achievers only (native+immigrants) Annual Ball to encourage the spirits of people who truly do their best everyday to make Belfast an International hub of knowledge exchange, economy and Business and hold an honorary segment for the local farmers and butchers to whom this warm city owes their nourishment.

Really beautiful castle. Nice view and the walk up was very pretty. Unfortunately we weren’t allowed in when we went there was a private event. But it’s worth checking out if your in Belfast!

Beautiful walk. Can be a little challenging as there are fairly steep parts to the walk as you leave the car park at the castle. Advise wearing good footwear. Recommend boots, not really suitable for training shoes. There is a little coffee van within the grounds of the castle. So a good way to finish off the walk.

Belfast Castle is a stunning mansion that offers a glimpse into the history and culture of Northern Ireland. The castle is situated on the slopes of Cave Hill, overlooking the city and the sea. The castle has a beautiful garden, a cafe, a restaurant, and a museum. The castle is also a popular venue for weddings, conferences, and events. I visited Belfast Castle with my family and we had a wonderful time exploring the grounds, learning about the history of the castle, and enjoying the views. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious. I would highly recommend Belfast Castle to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable day out in Belfast.

Very nice and beautiful cat castle. From road, you need to hike steep hill to reach here if coming by bus, but that distance is the FUN part and we enjoyed it a lot. Reach castle, take beautiful pictures, enjoy some snacks.

Its very good place for hike/walk , you are lucky if there is sunshine. You can-see a bit view of belfast as well. Everything is quite natural along with the entrance there few tracks for hike as well. You can bring your pets but need to be on leash. As they mentioned there as well.

Belfast Castle offered a mixed bag. While the drive up the hill held intrigue, parking was a minor hassle a few hundred meters away. Exploring the interior felt limited due to its primary function for private events. However, the true gem was the captivating garden, perfect for a leisurely stroll and bursting with beauty. The crowning glory? The hilltop's stunning panoramic view of the sea, leaving a lasting impression. Overall, the experience was pleasant, thanks to the enchanting garden and breathtaking scenery.

Belfast Castle is such an amazing place to visit as a tourist, lots of historical art and structures. Even though some parts were restricted for entry, it still contains a lot of significant sightseeing both within and outside the premises. The staff were nice, helpful and willing to answer questions.

Nice castle with good coffee shop. Castle is now in main a wedding and conference venue. Was grateful Belfast City allowed us to look round and get a feel for the place and its history. Great views from top floor. Grounds offer numerous wooded walks....be prepared for hills. Picture is about finding of wedding ring belonging to WW2 American bomber aircraft who crashed near the castle.....lots of history in surrounding are.

Beautiful well kept Cat garden. Would be ideal if there's signs for kid's adventure area or other near by destinations. No dogs allowed sign kinda ruins the Cat story plaque (as seen in picture) would prefer if No dogs sign was out in front of archway. But nevertheless, still a nice place to walk around.

very beautiful castle that you must visit. The castle also has a small garden, can you find all nine cats? The surrounding park is also worth seeing. If you have enough time then hike up to Cave Hill, there you will find an overwhelming view of belfast. Enjoy!

A really nice castle that stands out impressively on top of the hill overlooking Belfast. A nice spot to visit and the architecture is really cool to walk around and explore.

Review date: 16/Sep/2022. An amazing place to be with family/friends. Enough greenery for sit and relax with your pets. Awesome view of Belfast city and Irish Sea coastal area. Belfast castle one of the most beautiful buildings in this area. * Walkable distance from city (~1 hour). * Zoo and Cave hills are nearby (10 mins walk from the castle).

No tickets or car parking charges at all. Well maintained and very spacious car parks. One hell of a visit and enjoyed the visit too. There are so many activities available for kids and cafe available too. Walking around the park with dogs welcome too. Dogs must be on leash Usual history and stuffs bug very much glad that we had a chance to visit and see the inside of the living and bedroom areas. Toilets available inside and free carparks . Around 4-5 car parks available near the castle. Try to park very next to castle if not available then gradually check the nearest ones.

Belfast Castle: We drove to this castle as we’d hired a car. There is a coach you can get from the Europa Bus station, or you can walk too. Its located in a really peculiar area, surrounded by a ‘normal’ housing estate, and then all of a sudden your in paradise! What an absolutely stunning Castle. Just Beautiful. Well maintained on the inside and the grounds are sheer perfection. Its Free to enter the grounds. There are Public toilets and a cafe too. The view from the castle overlooking Belfast is phenomenal. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area. We went early in the day on a week day. I imagine it can get very busy on weekends with coaches arriving too. Thank you for the Belfast castle experience. 💫

Very cute gardens with a cute cat finding game, the castle itself internally looked quite basic the downstairs visitor centre looked a bit bleak and the interactive parts didn't work when pressed. Still a gorgeous castle though so I would recommend a visit for the view. But you can tell its a castle that is used for weddings and things as its not really a museum as such.

Beautiful place! Especially in the autumn. They have a lovely restaurant and one of the best fries you can get all day long. 10/10 Recommend.

Admission at Belfast Castle is free and during weekdays it had no crowds which made our visit super fast. The gardens here are astonishing, perfect for couples looking for a place for photo shoots or a venue to get married. It’s not taking five stars since the restaurant got closed by COVID and I was expecting a larger exhibition with facts and history of the castle—there’s only a few displays available. There’s a cafe in the basement with gluten free sandwiches.

This castle is worth a visit. Not just for the architecture but for the amazing views of Belfast from the hilltop where the castle sits. The gardens are so well maintained and you are allowed to walk around inside, if there isn't a private function. There is also a lot of parking and some paths to go for walks.

Amazing Places. Car Parking Available. Belfast Castle is located in the Cave Hill area of north Belfast. It was built in the 1860s and is one of the city's most famous landmarks. For generations, Cave Hill has been synonymous with Belfast, with its imposing outline visible throughout the city. The landmark, named for the five caves located on the side of the cliffs, contains a wealth of natural, archaeological and historical features, including Belfast Castle.

This is a beautiful place set on a elevated site with breath taking views over Belfast. Camera, Comfortable shoes and water bottle would be highly recommend. There is a restaurant booking may be required. Plenty of parking and picnic areas are all around. Kickback and enjoy... ☘️

One of the most photogenic places in Belfast, NI. It's open to all, no tickets, it's up the hill, a good long uphill walk from the public bust stop but worth Visiting. One will forget all the efforts to climb up with mesmerizing views and beautiful courtyard. Colorful flowers and well maintained courtyard. The castle building dies not have anything inside to view but the building from outside and views of castle are worth spending time. Must visit if you are in belfast.

Magical! Beautiful! Impressive! Unfortunately we went when they were closing and didn't have much time to explore. But we did enjoy a walk along the paths of Cave Hill Country Park. Beautiful views, you feel like the master of the world.🌍 🍀
