Cool spot close to Temple, TX. Walked in and was seated immediately. Waitress was very kind and attentive. The food was great. If you're close by, drop in!

This was our 2nd visit there. The 1st time we both got burgers, which were amazing! After seeing a lady at another table with her chicken fried steak, we HAD to return to try it for ourselves. We were definitely not disappointed. They were the best chicken fried steaks we ever had anywhere! Their fries are delicious and obviously house-made. I love that they keep the skins on their fries.. so tasty! I got too full to try dessert, but I understand they make their own cobblers as well, so I'm going to have to make a trip there again for that. Hard decision I'm sure, to have to choose between peach, cherry, or apple ... or coconut cream, lemon meringue, or chocolate meringue pie, chocolate cake, or Blue Bell ice cream. I can't wait to go! 😁

Awesome old time feel restaurant in the middle of the country side. Definitely a great place to take family if they are from out of town, or if you just want a solid meal where you know you can’t go wrong. The double burger is more than enough to fill you up and one of the best burgers in the area. Highly recommended.

ABSOLUTELY A MUST STOP!!! I had the best stew with roast beef (not hamburger meat) ever. Went for lunch, had the stew and fried squash, my friend had a great burger. The squash was lightly breaded and crisp, not greasy. Service was great, Paula, our server, was very busy, but awesome. Put this place on yoir bucket list folks, a bit off the beaten path which are the places i prefer, i will return!!!

Been wanting to go here since I moved to Temple. It did not disappoint. The place is huge, the staff is friendly, the food was pretty good. If this review was just for the food it’d get 4/5 stars. It’s not gonna blow your mind but it was good. No complaints. Will be coming back for sure, hopefully when there’s music. Something for everyone in the family.

Paula was our server very nice and attentive. The burgers were moist and flavorful. The fried pickle slices we’re crunchy.

I was visiting from Dallas just to get away from the city for a few days. While had my airbnb in Temple I was looking at restaurant reviews and found Oscar Store. What intrigued me was that it was literally out in the middle of nowhere with nothing around it. Why would anyone put a restaurant in the middle of no where? Not even along side a highway. Based on that and the great reviews from other customers I went on the adventure. It was everything I had hoped and more. Friendly staff, great food, and an amazing restaurant. It is HUGE! And it is set on a nice acreage with room for outdoor events, bands, parties and more. What a hidden gem this one. Oh yes I had the Chicken Friend Chicken with mashed potatoes/gravy and onion rings, with a home made biscuit. Left them a clean plate lol. I also bought a Oscar store t-shirt to remember the occasion. If I am ever in the Temple area again I'll definitely stop by for another great meal. You might be wondering why I added a photo of a bathroom stall LOL. It was such a clean and quiet outdoor bathroom, detached from the restaurant. And it's nice and cold. You could literally fall asleep in there. =)

This place is great! The burgers are thick. Be careful when ordering the double burger. I had the meat sweats for hours.

So easy to get to. You need to go for some great food. Atmosphere is extremely beautiful along with some fantastic service. Very quick from sitting,ordering and before you know it, the food is there. I give this restaurant the best rating I can give, 5 ⭐'s and a 2 👍's up. I highly recommend this restaurant to go to. You will find you will be going back again and again.

This is a cozy and friendly restaurant with some really good food. It was worth taking the small detour to get here. We ordered the chicken fried steak with green beans and onion rings, and a fried chicken sandwich. The food was made fresh and delivered quickly. Everything was delicious.

Best catfish and fried squash of my life!!! Husband loved the home fries.

Had the beef stew daily special. Large serving for $11.95. Daily specials change constantly so you’ll have to ask. Sometimes it’s patty melt and meatloaf. The menu is a little on the expensive side. Parking lot lines are majorly faded and are in need of a major paint job.

Excellent steaks and chicken fried steak. Fantastic service. A long drive for us, but still worth the drive.

Holy Cow this place is amazing!! If you want a true Texas Chicken Fried Steak you can't go wrong. Delish! The Green Knight will be back the next time we have a Metal Roofing project in the area.

While traveling in rural areas near Temple, Tx, we found Oscar's Store and decided to stop for lunch. The building was an old antique tin barn (by design) on the outside, but beautifully furnished and cool (105 degrees outside) on the inside. The menu was great with all my favorite Texas comfort food. I chose chicken fried steak, my wife chose a grilled chicken sandwich, and another in my party chose the hamburger. All the items were fantastic! Service was quick, and our waitress was happy and friendly! We will return to Oscar's in the future! You must try Oscar's! Plenty of parking and their garden at the front door was well kept and gorgeous!

Great little comfort food place a bit out of the way, but we'll worth the trip.i love the fried pickles and chicken gizzards. How do they get them so tender. My partner recommends corn nuggets and chicken fried steak. The burgers are delicious, as well.

The food was pretty bland, missing some seasoning. But still edible. But we love how big and spacious the restaurant is! It’s a lovely place to go if u have large parties! They have an outdoor area for volleyball, bean bag toss, live music etc out back and about 4 different rooms inside to dine in . U will definitely have to google the address, it’s not a visible place from any road. I would definitely go back and maybe host a corporate event there

Oscar Store is a great place for a date with a scenic drive or for a large group. The menu includes a variety of fried and grilled food along with salads. We were here as a large group (20) after a local college graduation. We had let them know we were coming a few weeks beforehand. They asked that all be present to be seated, but once we were there, they took us to our table. The wait staff handled splitting our checks masterfully including drinks, appetizers andain courses. Everything came out as ordered and in a reasonable amount of time for the crowd that was there and the size our group was. This tells me not only is the wait staff great but so is the kitchen staff. All the food tasted great with the steaks, burgers and chicken tenders being the highlights. Get the fried mushrooms too! They do sliced mushrooms for this and it's so much better than whole buttons. They do take cards, and like many places now, their menu prices reflect cash price with the card transaction fee being added at checkout. Our family will be back for sure!

For starter I would like to say the the Sirloin was great. But I did order sides like mash potatoes and green beans but they where cold potatoes was plain and look like they was just sitting there the roll had to be replaced cause that was hard on top I went cause they went to my son school and I enjoy the meal so much I wanted to go for eating lunch I was disappointed hopefully it be better next time

My family and I had the pleasure of experiencing this place for the first time yesterday. I'm not too fond of chicken fried steaks but it was rather tasty. I didn't really care for the fried okra but overall it was nice, intimate and relaxing.
