I would argue this is one of the best lakes in Texas if not a top lake in the country. There is a large area by the dam with plenty of room to boat and sail and winding wide river passage for miles of exploring and boating. There are coves everywhere, and in any wind direction you can find good water for water sports or anchoring. The parks around this Corps of Engineers lake are also very well maintained with great hookups for camping and RVing. Veterans have a great location at the Fort Hood Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area (BLORA) facility with boat rentals, beach access and water park. They also have RV hookups and cabin rentals at fantastic prices. With multiple marina's on the lake you can find a place to park your boat for the weekend or forever and gas up. Dead Fish Grill is a lake dining experience few lakes enjoy. The only bad thing, as with many Texas lakes, Zebra Mussels have been found in the lake, so boats need to be cleaned and dried with proper time periods out of the water before you go to other lakes. One advantage to the Mussels, is water clarity had improved dramatically in some area. Lake Belton has the facilities and fun to be a great weekend getaway. Don't have a boat, rent one from Franks. Stay local in town or get a cabin or RV on the lake for a perfect beautiful weekend or vacation.

Had such a great time fishing today. My husband got 2 snakes instead of fish so that was exciting!

Beautiful lake and great place to spend with family. You can bring your own canopy or they have covered areas with picnic tables and some have a grill. It's not as busy as Lake Travis so you really get to enjoy the place. You stay all day or just a couple of hours.

A great place to go with family. Had allot of people there so you might want to go early to catch a good spot to sit or tan at. The picnic tables were a bit of a distance but the whole area has them in several different spots and areas. Your can bring your own canopies, chairs etc

A year ago I went here. I have to say that yes it’s clean not much trash. However the biggest downfall is the lake texture of the mud it feels gooey, pictures may kinda look good and clear. If your a texture person my family did not like the lake at all. This year we gave it another try still the same. Moved and checked out another spot is rocky. Hurts your foot. Possible solution could be a water shoe. I would never return to this place. I rather drive 30mins-hr to get a better lake. Georgetown is nice and Waco is too.

It’s a great place to go with family. Set up a little canopy by the water and have fun all day. We could even take our dog. It wasn’t crowded and we had so much fun

Hello Y'all... So, I served 15 years of Active Military Duty, All of which I spent in Fort Hood, TX... It just happens that B.L.O.R.A also known as Belton Lake Outdoor Recreational Area it's within the limits of the Base. I visited this Lake sooo many times while I was still Active Duty that I get melancholic when I go back... Needless to say Belton Lake is my Get away, my Relaxation spot ... It is also a very Family oriented place, it has 4 different Pavilions that can be use for Family Reunions or simply having a cook out ... Enjoy!
