I liked the museum, it has pretty cool modern pieces. I just wished it wasn’t so small, we got to see everything in 45 minutes

Some of the displays here are really unique and the museum has a more intimate feel than others in the area. It can be a little confusing to navigate without a clear route. I came during an exhibit on last meals and wish it was displayed in a way the pieces were easier to take in, though I believe from afar it was impressive to look at an appreciate. Overall a decent way to spend an afternoon taking in local and global art.

I would hope for more from this Bellevue located art museum, maybe it's funding or direction, not sure. Just seems to have no authentic vision. FOLLOW ME for more thoughtful recommendations as I travel the world 🌎

We took the grandparents here for their birthdays, they really enjoyed the art, and doing some artwork themselves. Excellent protest art!

*Not Infant/ Toddler friendly* I felt really frustrated after my 1.5 year old toddler being told to be more quiet twice in the museum. This is the first time my toddler had been told to be more quiet out of our numerous visits to different museums. I definitely felt unwelcomed and this is clearly a mistake for me to bring a toddler here. Also the staff were following us in the third floor the whole time. If you don't want to being watched, don't come. This is ridiculous. Apparently several Yelpers with kids mentioned the same thing, I should have read reviews before I go!

Not alot of artist and artworks. Small in size . Worth the entry fees though. 3 floors . You start from the 3rd and walk your way down to the 1st floor. Dont miss the 800 plates on the wall that depict the last meal of the inmates on a death sentence

Dropped in on a whim while I was in town. Inexpensive entry was nice, but I was through it in 30 minutes. I probably moved faster than most because I didn’t find too many pieces interesting. Pics posted by other reviewers looked better. I just caught exhibits that aren’t my style on my visit.

You can tell it’s a Steven Holl building from both it’s bold exterior and playful interior space. It has memorable exhibits. Look forward to see more.

This is a clean and sophisticated museum that rotates new art every six months. I've found it to be a great place to visit for a calm and expressive experience before heading to one of the great restaurants nearby. I've also had memorable experiences learning from the staff here who are outgoing and knowledgeable.

Indeed modern abstract art, from the subtle messages the artists wishes to convey to the head scratching (in a good way I guess lol) I just wish there were more artwork but not bad. I spent a good 90 min here and no regrets.

Love, love, love this museum. Was recently there to install Nicole Gordon’s fantastic show “Altered States” and could not have had a more delightful experience. The staff and docents are great; friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Am returning soon (from Chicago no less) and very much looking forward to my next visit. This museum is a 10 out of 10 all the way round; really interesting exhibits and great staff, what more could you ask for?

Fairly small, I probably spent an hour including some chilling on a chair. Some of the exhibits are really pretty, and I especially liked the death row plates (you can't miss it) Note that you can get free passes through either the library system or if you're a bank of America cardholder, def not a museum worth paying to visit

Building is nice, area is great fun. Free entrance for Bank Of America card holders on certain dates. Got lucky on our visit. Didn’t feel like the exhibits we saw were particularly thrilling or interesting but it was a nice place to spend some time in. I won’t judge too harsh on one visit so 4/5 for the time being.

Not as interesting as I thought it would be, too large rooms for few art pieces... I would say is more like contemporary and abstract art... Except for the 2nd floor with all the french publicity posters, which were interesting and nice... The entrance is free every 1st weekend of the month if you have a Bank of America account (card)

Nice art museum with rotating exhibitions (check website). Lots of cool and beautiful art and exhibitions, although as others have mentioned this museum is significantly smaller than ex. SAM or MoPOP. (It is also cheaper!) As a general heads up, they no longer do free first Fridays but offer a free 2nd Sunday for students, and discounts on tickets for Bellevue collection. When I went, tickets were $15 for adults/$8 for youth (17 and under). I have never seen a wait or a large crowd (except during artsfair in the summer) so it tends to be a quiet museum. Their exhibits are mainly on the 2nd and 3rd floor. On the 2nd floor there's a cool community art room which is great for kids to make their own art and hang it on the walls. On the 3rd floor there's a small outdoor patio area as well you can access behind two doors.

Fairly small art museum. For the price, which was $15 dollars- I would maybe go for experience? It was lot smaller compared to SAM (Seattle Art Museum) 🎨 but there were few interesting arts there. The gift shop was closing- so they had 70% off sale on red tag items.

To be inspired through experiencing art across a set of revolving medias. Working to interact as the curator allows, taking care to respect all aspects of my perspective, expanding what one thought was possible.

The location was easy to find and parking was free. I went on the first Friday and Admission was also free! The exhibits were spread among 3 floors and the art was amazing. I spent about an hour exploring. I especially loved the Femail and Alex Katz exhibits.

Honestly, not a bad museum but also not good. I've both visited and volunteered but have never been moved by a piece in the same way I was at the Uffizi Gallery or Musee D'Orsay. (this is not really a fair comparison. the museum is good for what it is 👍)

Great to see a local museum that has tons of volunteers and community involvement. Always make time to stop in during Bellevue arts fair/ market weekend. Exhibits are well thought out and allow you to pace the museum on your own time without feeling rushed by other patrons.

I have been to BAM for a few times and every time I go there with my family there are always some art pieces that are magnificent, like this explosion project recalling the wreckage wrought by the "natural" disasters.

The less modern the better. There are too many clear tax loopholes written off as art and not enough true art installments worthy to be incorporated into an art museum. The newest edition by Julie Green with the last meal plates certainly is informative and captavating as well as the stock market art located on the first floor. Other installments are lackluster, however, seasonal changes does offer a pleasant surprise occasionally. One that they have removed included how a druggie lives their lives. A truly disgusting yet intriguing piece that sprawled across a whole room for all to walk through and process.

I took my girlfriend to this museum for a date because we've both wanted to see the art. The art was awful. The museum was empty which surprised me at first but then when I saw the art I understood. Everything in the museum looked like a high-school project. Would not recommend to spend your money here unless you like critiquing bad art.

The handout volunteer @ 4 pm on Sunday is not very friendly. My kids went to the woodworks stand, hoping to color a top. However, the volunteer was very passive aggressive and informed my kids that the tops were prioritized for other kids. I wish the art museum is welcoming for all. Will never go again.

I enjoyed all of the exhibits. Preston Wadley is an astounding artist and I am so glad to have seen his exhibit in particular. My kids enjoyed themselves and the exposure to what they described as baffling art. I plan to return soon

This museum is not very big one but one time watch. There are 3 floors in this museum and it has elevator. Time needed to cover this museum is around 30 minutes to 1 hour

Fantastic museum! Enjoyed the exhibits and tour today with Erik! He was highly knowledgeable and his enthusiasm for the arts and artists is highly infectious! I look forward to returning!

I visited this museum for the first time in the early afternoon on a Friday and was blown away! They had just opened two new exhibits on the top floor that morning so I got to walk around and experience them practically alone, which was lovely. The glass show on the second floor was beautiful and inspiring, and I was moved to tears by Julie Green’s project on the stairwell.

Well laid out building for its purpose. Elevator to top floor walk down through the exhibits. With only temporary exhibits, there's usually something new to see. We enjoyed a couple, some didn't do much for us. But that's what art is about! Certainly worth a visit.
