I can't recommend this place enough. The atmosphere is excellent. Old building with expertly curated decor. We visited twice and both time our service was nothing shy of excellent. Our food was delicious each time and pricing was extremely reasonable (especially happy hour!). I'd highly recommend the halibut, the french onion soup and the fish and chips. The creme brulee was 🀀🀀🀀

We came here for the Happy Hour deals. We weren't disappointed. This place has the best priced Happy Hour menu that we have seen since before Covid shut everything down. Our best treat was a full bottle of wine and a mini cheese fondue for $15. The fondue was excellent and the wine pretty good considering the price point. The place was really busy and all the staff were running full speed. The service was good considering. We were told it would be a 25-35 minute wait but it was actually 10 minutes. We will definitely be back again

The Black Cat is my new favorite brunch spot! Come in Sundays until 3 for a brunch with a view and some incredible cocktails (I had the bloody Mary with clamato juice, just perfect)! To eat, I enjoyed the Croque Monsieur, and my guest, the crab Benedict which they enjoyed thoroughly. The Croque Monsieur was fantastic, the ham was sliced thick and was of superb quality, the bread (sourdough) was flavorful and stood up to the bechamel sauce, and the egg wasn't too runny, absolutely spot on! The fries, served underneath, were perfectly crispy, too. It did take quite a while to get our food, but luckily my guest and I had lots of catching up to do! I've only been to The Black Cat once before and enjoyed the fondue. I will say the cheese was great, flavor wise and in consistency, but found it odd that the broccoli was cold and the apples were room temp. I'd rather them the other way around. Other than that, both experiences have been delightful, great service, beautiful location, absolutely would recommend!

This was my first time to the Black Cat. I will for sure be coming back. It isn’t a secret but defiantly a hidden gem if you don’t know the area. The wife and I came here for an early valentines lupper. The food was awesome. I had the crab Mac and cheese and it was so flavourful and tons of crab in it. Top it all of with the fresh tomatoes it was perfect. My wife had the crab open faced sandwich, I had a bit and it was taste. She liked it a lot too, and had it paired with the panko beans, which were very tasty. We started with the Brussels sprouts and I gotta say they are the best I have ever had!

Fun, casual atmosphere. Food was very good across the board for our party of four. I ordered the Gouda pesto chicken with Brussels and the Empress cocktail. My friend ordered the same cocktail and felt it was too sweet for her liking, but I very much enjoyed it! We ended up coming around sunset and had gorgeous views. I would recommend checking them out if you’re in Bellingham!

Basically, the Black Cat is a phantastic restaurant. A place to come in and feel comfy. The staff is very dedicated to provide the best restaurant experience possible. The selection of food and drinks is great. I'd love to award 5 stars but I can't turn a blind eye to a few bad points. First, we had to wait nearly an hour from appetizer to main course. Second, some of the sides (e.g. the rice and the vegetables) were just lukewarm to cold. Too bad.

What a charming spot to grab lunch in Bellingham! We had the clams and French dip sandwich, both of which were delicious.. The portions were plentiful, space was cozy, and the server was very kind and attentive. Also they allow dogs which is a huge plus when traveling with the pup! Would come back again.

They have a decent breakfast menu. The fish and chips was good. The Caesar salad with grilled chicken was good also. The Mimosas were perfect.

Walked from downtown Bham to Fairhaven and this was the perfect place to stop in for some food to warm up. Their grilled cheese was phenomenal! The soup was delicious for dipping and consumption without bread as well. Their drinks were stiff! Be prepared for a strong drink. We got the French 75 and the Old Fashioned and they both had some bite! Good bang for your buck.

My partner took me out here and I have to say the ambiance is spectacular- with nice window seating overlooking the beautiful Fairhaven district and woody tones throughout the restaurant. The food is absolutely immaculate, I had the crab pasta- the perfect combination of flavor crunch and texture.. My partner had the Alaskan salmon with brussel sprouts and I stole a brussel sprout off their plate oh my god I've never had a sprout so light, crispy, almost like a puff- in my life. We split the fish and chips, the batter surrounding the cod was light, buttery, crispy, and the fish was perfectly cooked. These people seriously got some wizards in the kitchen. 11/10

The building is beautiful and very old I love looking at it from the inside. The restaurant is on the third floor and the staff are friendly, with a large drink and beer list and happy hour menu 3-5. Good AC, cat themed historic room and building.

Super cute restaurant with tons of cat-themed decor, in a lovely historic building. I came by myself around noon for Sunday brunch, and there was no wait to sit at the bar. I got the crab cake benedict, which was delicious: the crab cakes were flavorful, the eggs were perfectly poached, and the sauce was rich with just a bit of a spicy kick.

We were up here visiting Bellingham for the 1st time & decided to stop here for a bite to eat. There was no wait which was awesome because we were hungry! The staff was working hard to serve the customers & Kaitlyn did an amazing job clearing the tables & get more guests seated as rush hour started. It was happy hour so we ordered off that menu & that was great! I ordered an oyster shooter the Brussel sprouts with Bacon & clams & boy was that an awesome meal for $20!! The food came out fairly fast as well! My girlfriend got the Cesar salad which was so delicious & the fish & chips & again was very good!! The place started to get busy so I’m glad we came when we did! This is a happening spot for the town it appears & we hit it at the right time.

Great food and service. Made a reservation or we would have been waiting on a Sat night. Got great seats at the window for the sunset over the bay. Lived the cocktails too. We'll go again.

Fun place on the third floor of a very beautiful building. There is an elevator for folk who need that. We were seated immediately, the service was attentive and the food delicious. We were given a table for two by a window and had a view of Bellingham bay as well as much of Fairhaven. We had the Dungeness crab cakes for appetizers- nice and light. Followed by the Gouda pesto chicken and Nana's pot roast- good American fare, good sized portions. My veggies were balsamic Brussels sprouts - I usually eat Brussels sprouts once a year but could eat these with any meal! The garlic mashed potatoes were also good. Dessert was a chocolate brownie which was extremely rich and seasonal bread pudding. I am picky about bread pudding as my dad made the best version - this was a worthy contender and I would order it again. All in all, excellent!

Always a treat to sneak in here. A hidden gem with fantastic drinks, fine food and the best view in town. Call ahead to make sure they are open and don't have a wait. We love sitting at a table next to a window or spending time at the bar reading or sketching.

I came here for brunch my girlfriend and it was quite delightful. The atmosphere of not only the building, but the restaurant is beautiful. It is in an old remodeled three story building and is a rustic industrial sort of vibe. The food was really good. I had the pork hash and my girlfriend got the crab cakes. I really enjoyed my meal as well as my coffee. My girlfriend liked the crab cakes by stated β€œit was too much crab”. Overall great experience, I really want to try their dinner, but would definitely come back for breakfast and try new items!

Everything was delicious. Wait time was long but we were seated sooner than expected. The fish dishes were all very good. Halibut fillet, the salmon entree ( tried both glaze and serrano aioli) and the sea bass special.

The crab maccoronni was delicious! Very cheesy and savory. The fondue was too liquidy according to my partner and I, but it went well with the apples in my opinion. It had a strong alcohol flavor to it, and it was a little gritty. If you like a heavly wine based fondue you would proably like it. The french onion soup was "just ok" according to my partner. Charming old fashioned setting on the upper floor of an indoor shopping center that is decorated as if it were the 1930s, it's pretty cute! I heard bar goers saying they loved their drinks, and the happy hour menu has a variety of food options that will make your wallet and taste buds happy. The waitress was friendly and sevice was quick. I would recommend giving this place a try.

A solid four. They were really popping. The happy hour menu was wonderful. Great mix of new and classic cocktais. The clams came out. They were tasty. Might have been in the window a few extra minutes before making it to the table. Fried oysters were perfect crispy goodness. Crab cakes... Hmmm. Have to question if that was Dungeness crab. Me thinks not. Brussels a bit overdone. Still delicious with the balsamic drizzle.
