Can’t say enough good things about Hato Viejo. We were recommended this restaurant by a tour guide and then decided to hop over to try it out! The staff and manager were attentive and helpful - they even went out of their way to help us split a bill (even though we should have asked for separate checks from the beginning of the meal.) Extra points because they offer a special vegetarian item that is very delicious! They also feature plenty of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Enjoy!

After visiting a sister location, I was excited to have lunch here. It was a complete letdown. Service was horrible, and we got the impression we were a nuisance to the staff because our Spanish wasn't perfect. The food was ok. Had the typical bean soup, and the beans tasted burnt and old. We waited for almost 30 minutes just to get our check to pay and leave. I do not recommend this location at all.

A great option to go to if you have a mixture of vegetarians and non-vegetarians. Their vegetarian bandeja paisa was great

The place itself, as well as the servers, are giving upscale dining experience. We had appetizers, drinks and dinner here early one evening. Everything we had was delicious. Coming from NYC we found that everywhere we dined at in Medellin has been very affordable, so don’t be afraid to try lots of different foods from different restaurants if ever in Colombia.

It was typical Colombian food. A little on the pricier side

Traditional restaurant tucked away in the heart of downtown Medellin. Cozy family vibes but was empty when we were there (7pm on a sat night) The guy who served us was so sweet and accommodating, very attentive Loved the platanos with guac. We had the veggie casserole and the mariscos soup with rice The veggie casserole came with lots of little bits on the side to add in, which was nice but the actual bean soup was a little bit under seasoned, bland My friend didn't really enjoy the seafood soup because the whole thing just tasted like mussels and was a very strong fish taste rather than coconutty Asked for salsa picante and limes to give it a bit of a punch, but obviously that's personal pref Big portions, could definitely share a soup / casserole with someone!

Very good service, food a bit above average, but not outstanding. I had fish, it was either over fried or fried in older oil. I visited May 23rd around 12:30 pm.

This place seems to be overpriced typical food. Honestly, I’ve eaten menú del día in many places for a third of the price and much better food. I will say the service was excellent and the people with me enjoyed their meals. Postre de milo is worth the visit on its own.

Lovely place and had an amazing waiter named Rigoberto who made things great. The rest of the staff were nice as well and the food was delicious!

Nice place to have lunch or dinner when you want to try the classic Colombian dishes. A bit more pricy than elsewhere but the staff is really nice and you can enjoy nice restaurant atmosphere.

I enjoyed flying into the airport and seeing Restaurante Hatoviejo Centro as I arrived in Colombia near the José María Córdova International Airport. I was able to see authentic Colombia food.

Lots of variety on the menu. They have an English menu. Staff speak minimal English but are very attentive and nice. Clean place, good food and drinks.

A good place to try bandeja paisa if you visit the Botero Plaza. The portion is huge, come hungry.

I ordered the Bandeja Paisa. One word: Speechless! So much food for so cheap. You can’t beat it. I went in face first. The whole plate has so much flavor. I’m not a pork fan but I still ate it. Everything on the plate complimented everything. I couldn’t finish all of the food in one sitting, so I took it back to my AirBNB. I could eat Colombian food everyday honestly. So delicious! I know it won’t be the same in the states so eat it while you’re in Colombia! You will not be disappointed eating at Hatoviejo.

😠 We ordered a mixed ceviche and it was very acidic, you couldn't eat it, the presentation was terrible in a plastic cup. We paid 28,900 each and it was just onion, a small fish bite and 3 shrimp.

👍👍 This is a traditional Colombian restaurant. I went around 12:40 pm, it was crowded but there were available seating. I ordered bandeja paisa. Portions were large and food was delicious. I also ordered cola zero and they brought 300 ml large bottle. Unfortunately 10% tip is included. I don’t like res...

👍 Very nice food and very good service. It's a good restaurant for typical and authentic food, but it's a little bit pricey and the menu is rather limited.
