A nice place that hosts expos from time to time. It's quite small so make sure to program other things to do on the same day. It is quite easy to reach, just a couple mintes' walk from the metro station. In fact it is right in front of the museum of fine arts' upper entrance.

The villa is in a beautiful place on a high on the mountain overlooking the capital. It has a lot of trees. The workers take good care of it, but it needs more care.

The Villa Abd-el-Tif, also known as la Villa Medicis algérienne, is a Moorish villa located in Algiers, Algeria. It is notable for having been set up in 1907 in emulation of the French Academy in Rome, the Villa Medici.

(Translated by Google) It is a beautiful place, but like in many museums in Algeria the visit part and the administrative part are mixed so at the bend of a corridor you find yourself in the administrative offices with a secretary whom you have the feeling of disturbing. At Villa Abdellatif it is practically all the rooms that are taken for offices so the visit is not pleasant.

(Translated by Google) Dar Abdellatif is one of the most beautiful houses in Algiers. It was built in the forest close to the "shrine of the martyr", which was inaugurated in the eighties of the last century, and not far from the "Cave of Servantes" where the famous Spanish novelist, the owner of "Don Quixote", spent a period His captivity, which lasted for five years, before returning to his country and writing that famous novel. It is said that Abd al-Latif was just a wealthy man who loved culture. It was also said that he was a minister, and his name was “Ahmed bin Abdul Latif”. All agree that he lived in the eighteenth century during the era of Ottoman-Turkish Algeria, which lasted three centuries before the French invasion, which changed many things, and left his mark clear after his departure, but he was unable to remember this intellectual who remained the house attributed to him as a witness to a bygone era. Nayla Pasha An engineering reference that has resisted political changes and preserved its essence The house, although Abd al-Latif was not its builder, but it was linked to his name forever, since he bought it two centuries ago, for the sum of two thousand golden dinars as the narratives indicate, and before he bought it, some notables of the city of Algeria had previously inhabited it at that time, and it was not associated with one name. From them as I related to this poet and intellectual. And it was transformed in its time to the Qibla of intellectuals, as historical sources mention that the great jurists, intellectuals and poets in the Ottoman era in Algeria were among its visitors, including Sidi Muhammad Ibn al-Shahid, the poet Sidi Ahmed bin Ammar and others. However, the fall of the "Ottoman Algeria" under the French occupation authorities in 1830, made the house go through a difficult stage that nearly eliminated its myth. Since that year, the occupation authorities have transformed it into a military hospital and convalescence center for the occupation soldiers. But Abd al-Latif's heirs fought by legal means in order to regain it, and in fact they were able since 1834, then they rented it to a Jew named Moshe bin Sherry for six years for 1,000 French francs per year, and Moshe in turn rented it to the French occupation authorities, who were then able to buy it For 75 thousand old French francs, she added it to the company that ran the experimental park in its vicinity. Hence, the second golden age of Abdellatif House began, when it turned into a workshop for plastic artists, where its name was associated with major plastic artists such as Eugene Delacroix and Eugene Fromentin, two of the major plastic artists associated with the art of plastic art. Among the most famous artists who graduated from the House of Abdellatif were Charles Dufran, a major Cubist artist, and Augustin Ferrandolloise Bertum, among others. When the house reached international fame, the French occupation authorities classified it in 1922 as one of the important historical monuments, and kept its old name, "Dar Abd al-Latif," which it continued to bear until now despite all the political changes that occurred in its surroundings and did not change its essence. It is the house, which in the middle of the last century turned into one of the largest and most famous art workshops in the world. Art enthusiasts from different countries visit it to buy the most beautiful paintings that have been completed among its walls. It is the house that Abd al-Latif did not build, but he imposed his name on it alive and dead, and after it inspired poets and jurists in its first era, and then inspired plastic artists in its second era, here it is now and has come under the custody of the "Algerian Agency for Cultural Radiation" of the Ministry of Culture It turns into a shrine for novelists, not far from the memory of Cervantes, the owner of "Don Quixote", as it overlooks a green hill of the Mediterranean. ... an architectural masterpiece made by Ottoman fingers The ancient Dar Abdellatif is considered a landmark classified within the national heritage and a masterpiece of Algerian architecture dating back to the Ottoman era. It is also a model of the summer residency models that were preferred by the notables of Algeria. And it was located at that time in the countryside, or what was called the examination area, which surrounds the city of Algeria and represents one of its orchards and a place to rest and relax in the summer. Each of these residences was called Janan, due to the large areas and lush vegetation surrounding it. The oldest title to this house dates back to 1715 before it passed to the ownership of many notables, including one of the ministers of the Navy. In 1795, Abdellatif bought it for two thousand golden dinars, and given that he was the last Algerian who owned this house, it continues to bear his name to this day. "Dar Abdellatif" is the destination of artists and painters At the beginning of the colonial era, the occupation army confiscated it and introduced many amendments to it before it was transferred to public property and employed in various uses. Young Algerian engineers and specialists to make it a residence for artists. ... valuables the house hoardes.
