We enjoy the food at the Gin each time we go. My favorite is the fried catfish, and the regular portion is always more than enough for me to eat. They do offer all you can eat catfish on Tuesdays as well if you have a bigger appetite. Their tartar sauce tastes homemade and pairs great with the catfish.

Nice location overlooking park and creek with outside seating. Inside seating would have been OK but cold! Good portions; tasty food Service was slow. Prices were reasonable.

New to Temple, my husband and I are enjoying all the new fare in the surrounding area. We liked the looks of the menu items and chose it for today’s FOODIE adventure. I got the blackened salmon caesar salad and my Hubs got the chicken fried chicken. Then Summer B, our charming and highly intuitive waitress, tempted us with the apple pie! DELISH!!! We will most definitely be dining here again very soon! THANKS SUMMER B!

Great atmosphere. Really good service. Cute outdoor seating area! The avocado tacos were very good. Onion rings were super delicious, fluffy not greasy. The Mac and cheese was not very good and my husband was not impressed with the chicken fried steak. But over all, a nice family atmosphere with plenty to choose from on the menu.

Great place, loved the food, and the service is awesome. Will definitely be going there again. I had the ribeye which it was perfectly cooked and great quality, but it needed i bit more salt for my taste. my wife had the Mahi, she had no complaint.

Nice area to visit in downtown with shops and a creek u can swim in. You will find something u like at the Gin. The bread pudding is made with Shipley donuts.

Great atmosphere and food. The restaurant had seating both inside and outside. We came in a Saturday at lunch and there were no waits. The food was well prepared and really good. The desert recommended by the waitress was great. Service inside was great but I would improve on the service up front for seating.

I give this place two enthusiastic thumbs up. I happened across The Gin as I was passing through Belton and stopped at the town square to admire the courthouse building. The Gin was one block off the square and looked interesting. I am very glad I made the stop. The Chicken Fried Steak was excellent, the garlic mashed potatoes were as well. But the seasoned green beans were stand-out fantastic. I highly recommend The Gin when you get the hankerin’ for some down-home southern comfort food.

Great building in a great location. The Gin is in a 1927 Co-op gin that has been extremely well taken care of and is a great building for a restaurant setting. Service was good, food was okay. They have a great specialty drink menu and the Maple Old Fashioned is highly recommended. On a nice day, would recommend sitting on one of the decks overlooking Nolan Creek.

Our lunch at the Gin was very good. The service really rocked, and they definitely helped us pick great choices! It’s a nice location! We sat outside in Texas heat and it wasn’t too bad, the tables however were so sticky, even after the server wiped it down again.

This was my first visit to the restaurant and I enjoyed the food and service. Made a reservation a day before and our table was ready when we arrived. They had options for outdoor seating as well but we chose the already set table indoors. The restaurant has a rustic and Texan feel to it. Our waiter was great and offered good suggestions. The restaurant was pretty busy with many groups which slowed down service a bit. Good selection of drinks and cocktails. The stuffed airline chicken was really good. Our group ordered different dishes and everyone enjoyed their food. Gin's chocolate explosion is a big dessert that can be shared. It tasted great! Plenty of parking is available. Heaters are outdoors in winter. Pricing : Moderate Will I return? : For sure!

Beautiful location unfortunately they were out of several items and food took awhile l (Appitizers were fast). Mac N Cheese was bland, drinks took a long time. Fried Avocado was delicious. I'd give it 1 more shot for dinner but 1st go was so so.

Wonderful casual dining inside a neat historic building. Great ambiance, right on the river. Nice view. Covered patio dining. Food was delicious, drinks were tasty. Highly recommended! *One (very minor) thing that would be nice is coasters for patio dining! Drinks would sweat and leave puddles and dripped on everything each time you lifted your glass.

This place was awesome! I loved the atmosphere, the staff was extremely nice, & the food was delicious. I would definitely recommend the fried pickles & the birria brisket tacos!!! Only thing is that the food takes insanely long to get to you. We waited about 30-40 minutes for our food to show up.

The service was very good, the view of the creek is awesome. Our food came out quickly and was delicious. Thee wait staff was knowledgeable & helpful with questions about about allergy substitutions available on items of concern to me. The green beans are some of the best I've had. I wouldn't order the mashed potatoes again though.

Girls day out! Lovely creek side patio. We enjoyed the appetizer sampler & fresh salad with grilled mahi-mahi.

A totally new menu and experience in this downtown Belton restaurant. Nice atmosphere in a historic landmark building on Nolan Creek. The small bar in the sunken lower level is cozy and comfortable with friendly staff and sports viewing. Good place for a drink if waiting on a table. The menu has good variety and very reasonable prices. Not gourmet but good quality with attention to detail in the food presentation. We enjoyed the grilled (Baja?) shrimp fettuccini with garlic toast and the blackened mahi. The latter wasn't overly salty as is common with many restaurant offerings. The "donut" bread pudding was a very nice dessert finish. Overall more enjoyable and reasonably priced than the former Gin.

We live in the area and we like a good burger sometimes. I’m not talking about a fastfood burger or some thing mass-produced but some thing homemade without me having to go through the effort of cooking. We also wanted a view. The weather was beautiful today. So we went to the Gin on Nolan Creek. We’ve been here before, and had a good burger and we were not disappointed this time either. The service was excellent and the view was good and the burger was exactly what I needed. It was perfectly cooked and had so much flavor. The fries are thick cut and seasoned well. All in all a really nice visit and I’m glad it’s near my house.
