Experienced racial discrimination today in Bemidji Candlewood. Walked in to get a hotel room we drove 7 hours, was greeted by Lynn. I asked if they had any rooms for tonight, very quickly she said no. Wouldn’t look in the computer. She said unless we had a reservation the answer was NO. We looked online after leaving and rooms were in fact available. We called 30 min later and asked for a room for tonight and quickly the answer was YES. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT STAY HERE. We have stayed here many of times in the past as I have family in this town. LYNN Is a terrible employee who needs to lose her job and find a new one in a city NOT populated by anyone of color.

Staff were nice, Rooms had a fridge with an ice maker in them. Rooms were clean and quite. Workout room is there and it's good (treadmill, elliptical and free weights)

Small details like no tooth paste available for purchase, and mold in the shower. That aside I can live with. When I checked out the young blonde hair lady wouldn't give me a receipt. I have always booked my hotels online and was provided a receipt at this location in the past. When I told her they always print my receipt she got rude and told me "like I told you if you reserve the room online we don't give you a receipt.". I have spent over 120 nights in hotels this year for work and I have been provided a receipt every single time including this location. The front desk workers here are as rude as the folks over at Hotel Bemidji.

They called and down grade my room from a 4 person 2 queen size room to only a 2 person 1 queen size room. We had 4 people going and they can't accommodate all of us. They were barely able to change the price so we had to cancel because they wouldn't let me do 2 rooms of 1 queen size.

Check in was easy. The hotel was very quiet, even with all of the rooms around me taken. All of the staff were kind, and they accommodated the couple of things I asked for quickly with no problem. My room was clean, my bed was comfortable. I would definitely stay here again if I had cause to be in Bemidji. Also, there's a good grocery store right next door and everything you need to cook in room. Really good experience. Thanks!

Ladies at the front desk weren't didn't seem to enthusiastic about anything. Floors weren't vacuumed well if at all. Our dog found a pretzel right away and my sister, in a different room, found a contact lens. There was a storm that knocked power out for a bit and apparently that keeps the refrigerators off until they come through and do something. They didn't tell anyone this and we ended throwing a bunch of food away. On the plus side, beds were comfy and the hotel is very quiet.

Kenny at the front desk went above and beyond to help me find a place to rest after a very long day. Super helpful and kind and actually found me a better rate and stay elsewhere when there was no availability! I will come back because of such excellent service. Very clean and neat rooms.

The location is great; near the lakes. The rooms are perfect for an extended stay. There's a designated area (not enclosed) for dog pottying with available poo bags and trash. There's also a covered patio out back with a ceiling fan, a couple of bistro tables, and a couple of gas grills to use. My biggest complaint is that this covered patio, which is a couple of feet outside of the back door, is often utilized by smokers, rain or shine. You can't help but breathe it in or smell it on your clothes if you're walking to and from your car parked out there, or taking a pet to the potty area, and you certainly can't enjoy the shaded shelter when smokers are using it for their break area, too. I would love to see them address this in some way that's further from the entry door and common area.
