BHU is not just a college It's love ,vibe, and a home away from home💓 When you move to a certain place, you always have some preconceived notions about that particular place. I had the same. When I first entered the city, it was a very weird reaction from my side. Dust, dirt, overcrowded, uncontrollable traffic, unhygienic food stalls yet a city which you'll feel is running some years back from the usual. But, as soon as I entered the BHU campus…Voila! What a beautiful campus!! Being the 3rd topmost university in India and Asia's largest residential campus, BHU is like a whole different world inside Varanasi. FUN FACT: I had this preconceived notion that everyone wore kurta salwar there, so I did buy a lot of those, and went on dressing up like a proper “bharatiya ladki" on my first class, just to discover later that I've been wrong the whole time. But one thing is true that I've become more fond of salwar kameez since I moved there. Now let's talk about the perks of BANARAS HINDU UNIVERSITY which I guess is the motive behind this question. BHU is wonderful guys. a) BHU is a diverse campus and completely safe. Now, you must be wondering that's how university campuses are. TRUE. But, a campus which has within it a Medical institute, IIT, a Women's College, Schools, Temples and what not, BHU is extremely diverse. A good form of cultural exchange is possible here. b) Library facilities are A1. Imagine(just imagine) you're studying 24*7 in the library and suddenly you crave chai and chole samose and there right in front of library there's our VT(Vishwanath temple) where you can have the best chai and chole samose ofcourse. Everything is sorted for you- STUDIES, BLESSINGS AND CRAVINGS!! c) No academic pressure. You heard me right. No academic pressure at all(might be different in some cases) but mostly academic pressure is very very low and the system is very flexible. So, you just have to crack the entrance, and you can pursue your interests and prepare for competitive exams altogether which most of the people in BHU are busy doing right now. Some students might now wonder that this might impact their studies, NOOO you don't have to worry about that. Your studies will not get hampered. If you are sincere about something you'll do it anywhere you are placed, be it BHU or some other place. d) Regarding hostel, its a little bit hard for girls as it is for guys.

I didn't study in BHU. I just visited the campus and the temple inside the campus which is a replica of Kashi Viswanath temple in Banaras. The campus is big and was quite clean. This university is the oldest University of India and is the largest residential University in whole Asia. I liked the traditional architecture of this university which is quite different and i liked the official seal of the university which is 'maa Saraswati' . And there is IIT BHU as well inside this campus. Please keep the place clean when you visit 🙏

This is the largest residential University in Asia. More or less every department with good faculty members, campus is totally enriched with greenary, peacock, porcupine etc. Viswanathan temple, the replica of old viswanath temple is the heart of this campus.

Banaras Hindu University (BHU), kashi Hindu vishwavidyalaya formerly Central Hindu College, is a collegiate, central, and research university located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India. It was established in 1916 jointly by Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya, the Maharaja of Darbhanga Rameshwar Singh, Maharaja of Banaras Prabhu Narayan Singh,Sunder Lal and British Theosophist and Home Rule League founder Annie Besant. With over 30,000 students, and 18,000 residing on campus, BHU is the largest residential university in Asia. The university is one of the eight public institutions declared as an Institute of Eminence by the Government of India. Banaras Hindu University is a collegiate, central, and research university located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India, and founded in 1916. The university incorporated the Central Hindu College, founded by Indian Home Rule-leaguer and Theosophist, Annie Besant in 1898. After Besant and her associates were marginalized, the university was established by Madan Mohan Malaviya with the financial support of the maharaja of Darbhanga Rameshwar Singh, the maharaja of Benares Prabhu Narayan Singh, and the lawyer Sunder Lal. With over 30,000 students, and 18,000 residing on campus, BHU is the largest residential university in Asia. The university is one of the eight public institutions declared as an Institute of Eminence by the Government of India. It is also one of the 12 institutions from India in BRICS Universities League, a consortium of leading research universities from BRICS countries. BHU has often been referred by different names throughout the history and present. Some of the English names include Banaras University, Benares Hindu University, and Hindu University. The university's main campus, spread over 1,370 acres (5.5 km2), was built on land donated by the Kashi Naresh Prabhu Narayan Singh, the hereditary ruler of Banaras ("Kashi" being an alternative name for Banaras or Varanasi). The south campus, spread over 2,700 acres (11 km2) is built on land donated later by Maharaj Kumar Aditya Narayan Singh in Sunderpur, hosts the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (Agriculture Science Centre)[18] and is located in Barkachha in Mirzapur district, about 60 km (37 mi) from Varanasi. BHU is organized into six institutes, 14 faculties (streams) and about 140 departments. As of 2020, the total student enrollment at the university is 30,698 coming from 48 countries. It has over 65 hostels for resident students. Several of its faculties and institutes include Arts, Social Sciences, Commerce, Management Studies, Science, Performing Arts, Law, Agricultural Science, Medical Science, and Environment and Sustainable Development along with departments of Linguistics, Journalism & Mass Communication, among others. The university's engineering institute was designated as an Indian Institute of Technology in June 2012, and hence forth is the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU). Centralised in 1916 through the Banaras Hindu University Act, Banaras Hindu University is India's first central university. BHU celebrated its centenary year in 2015–2016.

Being a student of this university ,I can bet on this that this university offers the largest campus , surrounded by greens and everything is well maintained. This has a mini habitat of its own. You can see peacock roaming freely. You can see various types of birds, butterflies etc. You can observe nature very closely while roaming inside the campus. One might easily get lost if visiting for the first time , atleast I got lost while exploring my campus. Loved how the colour changes in every season . Surely gives an internal peace while walking and enjoying the aroma of nature. It's surreal. Also it provides the best eduction and that's why ranked third in India. Am forever grateful to Mahamana for creating such a place where one can feel homely living still away from home .

I visited this place around 7:30 AM on Sunday. It was not crowded and quite peaceful. You must remove your shoes before entering the temple. There is no entrance fee, but it's customary to give a tip for shoe storage. There are some worshipers in the temple. The building and sculptures are well-preserved and meticulously maintained. Visiting here is a valuable experience to immerse yourself in Hindu culture. Additionally, it offers insight into how Indians uphold their traditions and religious beliefs, making it a great opportunity for self-reflection on one's own country's identity. I recommend visiting this place when you're in Varanasi.

I ever wanted to go to BHU , like my dream comes true. I love all the building inside the University and mostly the honour to be an student here. It's too away from my home, Kolkata but its too pleasant place with lot of woods, plants, parks, canteen, fields, Play ground and all that. Pursuing my CS(honour) from here is the base of my career and its start from here. The temple inside is too much calm, silent and inspiring. Again the bank of Ganga ...ohhhh yaar.. There is a lot of things to fond of. The years will pass like minutes.. I have decided to go for Mtech in CS in BHU. I will love it.😊😊😊

One of the most reputed university of India and Uttar Pradesh. Banaras Hindu University, formerly Central Hindu College, is a public central university located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. It was established jointly in 1916 by the Maharaja of Darbhanga Rameshwar Singh, Madan Mohan Malaviya, Sunder Lal and British Theosophist and Home Rule League founder Annie Besant. At the 21st Conference of the Indian National Congress in Benares in December 1905, Malaviya publicly announced his intent to establish a university in Varanasi. Malaviya continued to develop his vision for the university with inputs from other Indian nationalists and educationists. He published his plan in 1911. The focus of his arguments was the prevailing poverty in India and the decline in income of Indians compared to Europeans. The plan called for the focus on technology and science, besides the study of India's religion and culture:

On our trip to Varanasi, we had to keep BHU in our list, the whole campus is so wide spread with various departments of studies. We visited the temple to offer our prayers and saw a crowd of young students who were celebrating Holi in their own way. The vibe was different, canteen area was over crowded with Students, and we saw lot of visitors like us who were there just to witness the vibe of BHU. We enjoyed watching them sing and dance, also wanted to have some food in their canteen, especially the famous chocolate milk shake, but it was crowded that we couldn't make our way through and had to miss the shake, but our guide promised us to take us to Pehelwan Lassi, which is also a place where BHU students have their 'Adda'.

I recently had the opportunity to visit Banaras Hindu University (BHU), and I must say that it left an indelible impression on me. BHU's sprawling, open campus is an absolute delight, enveloping you in a serene environment that fosters both academic excellence and personal growth. The first thing that struck me was the sheer size of the campus. It's vast, yet meticulously maintained, with beautifully manicured lawns and gardens. This expansive space not only allows for ample breathing room but also provides an ideal setting for intellectual pursuits and recreational activities alike. Whether you're strolling along the pathways, sitting under the shade of a tree, or engaging in discussions with fellow students, the tranquil nature of BHU's campus creates an environment that is conducive to learning and introspection. The peaceful ambiance of BHU is further enhanced by the presence of the holy Ganges River, which flows alongside the campus. The gentle sound of the river's currents and the mesmerizing view it offers act as a constant reminder of the spiritual and cultural heritage that BHU embodies. Moreover, the campus is replete with state-of-the-art facilities, including modern classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, and an extensive library. The university's commitment to providing a well-rounded education is evident in the range of disciplines it offers, from the humanities and sciences to professional courses. What sets BHU apart is its harmonious blend of tradition and progress. While preserving its rich cultural legacy, the university also embraces innovation and encourages students to think critically and creatively. The faculty members are highly knowledgeable, approachable, and dedicated to nurturing the students' intellectual curiosity. In conclusion, Banaras Hindu University is not just an educational institution; it is a sanctuary for growth, self-discovery, and enlightenment. With its expansive open campus, tranquil setting, and commitment to academic excellence, BHU provides an ideal environment for students to flourish. If you're seeking a place where learning is not confined to the classroom and peace permeates every aspect of campus life, BHU is the perfect choice. I wholeheartedly recommend BHU to anyone seeking a transformative and fulfilling educational experience.

The Banaras Hindu University was jointly established by Madan Mohan Malaviya. A prominent lawyer and an Indian independence activist, Malaviya considered education as the primary means for achieving a national awakening. The plan called for the focus on technology and science, besides the study of India's religion and culture:

beautiful & best in India India Banaras Hindu University 601–800 th World University Rankings 2021 167 th Asia University Rankings 2020 Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, 221005, India OVERVIEW RANKINGS COMPARE SUBJECTS KEY STATS JOBS LOCATION ABOUT BANARAS HINDU UNIVERSITY Banaras Hindu University (BHU), formerly known as Central Hindu College, is a public university, which was established in 1916 in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. It is the largest residential university in Asia, and is one of India’s Institutes of National Importance, each of which is intended to “serve as a pivotal player in developing highly skilled personnel”. BHU was created with the aim to address India’s poverty and the lower income of Indians compared to Europeans, by focussing on technology and science to be used in their interest, as well as on Indian religion and culture. On 1,300 acres, the main campus is near the banks of the river Ganges, on the southern edge of Varanasi. The semicircular layout includes early 20th century examples of Indo-Gothic architecture. There are more than 60 residential hostels for students, as well as housing for full-time faculty. The Shri Vishwanath Mandir, a 252-feet high complex of temples at the centre of the campus, took almost three decades to complete. Bharat Kala Bhavan, the art and archaeological museum, is most renowned for its Indian paintings, though it also includes archaeological artefacts, textiles, costumes and more. Also on campus is the largest tertiary referral hospital in the region, Sir Sunderial Hospital, which is affiliated with BHU’s Institute of Medical Sciences. The 2,700-acre Rajiv Gandhi South campus in Barkachha, Mirzapur, about 60km from Banaras, houses the Agriculture Science Centre. The university’s anthem, the Kulgeet, was composed by one of India’s most renowned scientists,, Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar, who worked at BHU from 1921 for three years. BHU has many prominent alumni and faculty, including Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance author, Robert M. Pirsig, who studied Eastern philosophy and culture there. One of BHU’s administrators, Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, went on to become the President of India.
