State of lake is turning pathetic after BBMP took over from forest department. There is garbage everywhere. Parking is built inside the gate but it’s not allowed anymore. All the vehicles are parked outside and cause traffic jam.

A very good lake. It’s really huge with really good amount of water. There is boating also available in the evening. I usually go here for morning walks. The lake needs to be taken care by the government a little bit by cleaning the premises. There is also a nice seating place. Stray dogs are there at the entrance. Crowd is also good.

Beautiful lake. The boating can be improved. The ticketing counter lately is Bane. With no online payment, a single slow counter, there are people standing in queue for such a long period to enter during weekends. The lake needs at least 2 more entry points. A few years ago the lake was allotted 54 cr for development according to the newspaper article but it does not show. The lake has never gone dry as far as 2 generations can remember.

Madiwala lake is situated at BTM Layout. Earlier the lake was under BBMP and recently handed over back to Forest department. Beautiful lake with the man made island in the middle attract lot of people. Thanks to the artificial island, lot of birds visit the lake. BRICKWORK INDIA & BRICKWORK FOUNDATION have installed a informative board here showing the birds frequently visit the lake. The board with photo of the bird and other details is very informative to the public especially school children visiting the lake. There is nice vehicle parking area. Park open from 7 am to 6 pm. It is free entry for the morning walkers till 9 am. After 9 am there is entry fee. It is very calm place. People can do boating in the lake too. There is a kids play area which was built by Mico Bosch Bangalore. Though it is a very old park, the development is not upto the mark. There is no proper public toilet, no proper pathway, no safety barricade etc. Once should be very careful when come with kids.

A very beautiful lake. However there is no parking and is pretty hard to find parking. There is no entry fee. Also there are many eating stores right opposite of the lake where you can buy and eat the food at the lake. There are many places for senior citizens to sit. Overall very nice experience.

Madiwala Lake is a beautiful spot that has become famous for family as a picnic spot. Situated in the southern part of the city, this lake is one of the largest lakes in the surrounding area and is an ideal destination to observe a number of rare migratory birds. Maintained by the Karnataka Forest Department, this lake looks beautiful and an ideal nature’s spot. Ideal for morning and evening strolls, this place is a perfect one to go for bird watching as well.

Nice place to walk, though it can get a bit crowded in the evenings. The walkway doesn't go all the way around the lake, but it feels long enough to be satisfying. I think its closed in the mornings though? But it's open in the evening around 4-6 i think.

Nature and City living together. A good stretch for a healthy jog or a simple stroll in the evening. It also has a small play ground for small children. They also provide boat rides for 50rs per head. But due to the COVID pandemic, they are not allowing vehicles and cycling. It is advised to find some reliable parking on some of the pocket roads nearby. Avoid parking near the front of the gate since it is a no parking zone.

This review is just a reminiscence of the fun we had in the Madiwala Lake. Bengaluru occupies a special place in my heart as I did my graduation in Namma Bengaluru but never did I visited Madiwala lake. It was years later that I visited this place and it was wonderful indeed. The boat ride, water sprinkling over our faces as and when the boats moved, the cool breeze, the chirping of the birds around, made the ride even more joyous. The only thing that bothered me was the odour the lake emitted. Overall a good place to visit.

Beautiful and peaceful. There is only one entry gate (maybe due to security reasons), which to me has been a small problem..as for daily walkers and joggers, it makes more sense to enter the premises from a place more convenient to them, and not walk/drive 1-2 km to only reach the gate!

lovely place to get away from the city and it's loudness. The queue for boating can be long so avoid busy hours (weekends and evenings). Bring your snacks but don't litter, there are trash cans for wet and dry waste. Bird watchers and enthusiasts amshould bring cameras.

An abode of peace and tranquility amid chaos and clutter. This lake is a blessing for the residents of BTM Layout which is best known for its traffic woes. Lot many possibilities if the govt wants to improve this lake. The birds you can sight on morning walk is as good as you get on any jungle / bird watching trail.

I saw the lake today ( 03.02.2020) and felt very sad. Water HAYCINTH has covered 75% of the lake and spreading fast. This was one lake for which there was no dearth of funds but no idea why it is in such a poor condition. Under direct control of Forest Department, big plans were made and money was spent.

I went to madiwala lake on Sunday 12 January at 4:30 pm. The weather was perfect, warm and breezy. There was a 10/- inr entry fee. On entry it was quite crowded, till the point where the boating entry was. After that, crowds got thinner as I went further in. It is a beautiful and serene experience. There are lots of weeds near the edges and those need more attention. However the lake was pretty full and looked wonderful. Do try!

Madiwala lake is one of the biggest lakes in Bangalore, India spread over an area of 114.3 hectare. Legend has it that the lake was built by the Cholas in a day. The water in the lake was fit for drinking till the early 1990s. Since then it has become unfit for drinking due to industrial waste and sewage entering the waterbody. It has gradually become polluted. It is situated in the BTM Layout at 12Β° 54' 28" North, 77Β° 37' 0" East in Bangalore city. It is a home to many migratory birds. The lake comes under the administration of Karnataka State Forest Department which carries out the routine maintenance of this lake. There is a children's park as well. The lake received a Rs 25 Crore grant in 2016 from the Lake Development Authority of Bangalore

Wonderful place for a morning walk. You get clean and fresh air. After 9.30 am entrance ticket β‚Ή10 for adults and β‚Ή5 for kids is chargeable but before 9.30am it's free entry for all. There are plenty of chairs and trees to relax as well. Kids have a play area. Pedal boating is also there and it's β‚Ή50 per 30 mins chargeable. Overall nice location and maintenance is good.

Beautiful lake and place to walk. Boating would have been great if our boat worked. It was not moving in any direction, just kept going in circles in same spot. Lake is very big, but we couldn't cover it. In fact, we were worried how to return back. Somehow reached the dock and we were relieved.

It is a nice place but they are charging extra amounts of 50 rupees to Boating. But we can enjoy it but that smell in the lake.

Overall good experience. Nice place to go with friends and family. a picnic spot. And if we want to go for boating better go early or else we will made disappointment. Nice place for photoshoot. Better have cash for this place. Don't blindly go with online transaction. For childrens they have so some play time is there. Awesome place. But some disappointment is in near the side of lake some smell is coming. But good place to visit.

Overall as per ticket price, it's good. There's nothing much to see except you can hang inside the greenery. The especial attraction could be th boating which is 50 rupees per 30 minutes. While boating, lots of rare and beautiful birds can be seen on the opposite side of the lake.

We visited this lake on a Saturday evening at around 4:30 pm and had to stay in a long queue for boating. It was an overcast day with cool breeze blowing across the face that gave the place a whole different look. while we patiently waited for our turn to book tickets, we saw the sun emerge finally amidst the clouds thereby giving us a glimpse of the beautiful rainbow 🌈. We finally got our turn at 6:30 pm where it fortunately had enough light for us to do boating for 30 mins. Boating was a wholesome experience costing 50 rupees for 30 mins per person, and not allowed for children under 12 years of age. You would be asked to wear life jacket before boarding the boat which is a 4 seater. You have to self drive the boat which is equipped with 2 pedals and a steering to guide the direction. You should not cross the red flags marked across the lake. We went to the middle of the lake to get a beautiful birds eye view of the whole area. It is situated in btm layout and is hence also known as btm lake. You can find many eateries within and outside the premises. Definitely a must visit place.
