Massage therapist Massage spa

😠 I wish there were zero stars! The owner of this spa is a complete scam artist and should not be able to have a business. She changes the prices, shorts the value of the gift cards she sells and demands you tip more. My husband bought me 2 gift cards last year, the price on the sign said $50 dollar... People often mention massage, front, desk, gift, business, therapist, lady, great, price, girlfriend,

I wish there were zero stars! The owner of this spa is a complete scam artist and should not be able to have a business. She changes the prices, shorts the value of the gift cards she sells and demands you tip more. My husband bought me 2 gift cards last year, the price on the sign said $50 dollar massages. She told him the price went up to $60, he paid her $120. Then when I went to use the gift cards this week she told me they were only worth $30 each. Another example of her scam to make more money. I went home and pulled the bank statement of the charge and went back downtown to get what he paid. She was nasty, argued and tried to say prices changed after Covid. The value of the gift card doesn't change, regardless of what she charges. She reluctantly gave me the $60 she tried to scam me out of but I know others won't stand up to her. The services are worth the money, the owner is not worth dealing with. I wish someone else had a local shop to support. Avoid her at all costs, total scam artist and should not run a business!

Three stars because the massage therapist did fantastic work. My girlfriend and I dropped in for a 90 minute massage each (not a couple's massage). We were put in the same room, which was no problem. After the massage, I was still getting dressed in the room while my therapist walked in to change the bedding, so I tipped her $40 right then. My girlfriend was up front paying at the time. The lady at the front desk started asking about how much I tipped my therapist while my girlfriend was squaring up. As my girlfriend was attempting to tip $25 to her therapist, the lady at the front desk said something to my girlfriend to the effect of "No you should tip $40 too, since he tipped $40 and the girls work together... " So if you go here, be prepared to get shaken down for some extra money on the way out. This is so even if you're attempting to tip 25%, which was the case with my girlfriend in this situation. The front desk lady seems obsessed with workers being tipped, but doesn't even seem to recognize them and say hello or make eye contact with the therapists as they are walking back and forth. Of course this could be a cultural difference, but you'd think someone who was advocating so much for her fellow workers would also show kindness through body language etc. I once asked for my therapist's name, so that I can request her again, and the front desk lady said that they don't share their names. Again... rather peculiar behavior which calls me to question the business practices in general. Unfortunately, I will not be going to Yan's massage again, which is a shame because the therapist did fantastic work, and I appreciated the convenience of being able to get a massage as a drop in or same-day appointment. If you're OK with these business practices, then you can get a great massage from fantastic therapists there.

The massage itself was excellent. But the front desk service was outrageous! I paid, tipped, and left, and the woman came running OUTSIDE AFTER ME!!!!!! to demand that I tip $20 instead of $15. She obviously doesn't understand that a TIP is at the discretion of the customer. This happened a couple of years ago and I've never gone back. But the place across the street (435 Spa), which I believe is run by the same family, is staffed by a very nice man who is professional, friendly and courteous. And the massage therapists there are absolutely fabulous.

I was given a gift certificate to this business for Christmas. When I arrived, per a big sign at the front desk I realized I would be paying the tip (minimum $20) (which the gift certificate specifically says is not included) but then the man at the front desk says they had a price increase in January and I would need to pay the difference. I have a small business here in Benicia and offer gift certificates and I also I understand price increases. I would never make a client pay the difference from a past certificate they were gifted. It's just bad business practice. They made $50 from my Dad, who purchased the gift certificate and then $30 more off of me. My massage was fantastic. She really worked on all my kinks and knots. She deserves to be paid well, but they don't seem to do it in an honorable way. I really hope she made more than my $20 tip out of what was paid. My Dad mentioned he wants one too but after hearing that I had to pay more for the massage he already purchased he has changed his mind.

2 stars for the massage therapists who always did a fantastic job. Looks like 'Tip' issue with the front desk lady is quite common. I have been to this spa a few times but finally took a decision to stop coming here. Similar to all other filtered 'tip' reviews, I had exact same uncomfortable experience while paying. No tip is enough for this lady and she keeps hounding for more with ill comments. No one wants to deal with such situation after a nice relaxing spa. I feel bad for the massage therapist who work here and might be losing customers because of this woman. I prefer the other location of Yan spa that is right next to Luca. Pleasant front desk and massage experience. Give it a try!!

I have gone here many times and have taken many family and friends. The massage experience has always been great. I do recognize others comments that the woman who works the front desk can be very direct and what might be considered rude. She does ask consistently and repeatedly if you would like to upgrade the massage and tells you the deal you would get. I expect this and when I bring new people tell them to expect it. Sometimes I decide to upgrade and other times not, depending on if I am in the mood for the foot massage or full body (two very different experiences but equally great). She always asks about any injuries, any areas that need attention, and pressure preference (then double checks with you). There is a sign about tipping, but I’ve always tipped well because it’s great massage service and still a deal, in my opinion, with their price and the large tip. I have gone to several other reflexology places in different cities and feel like the customer service is similar so I’m not shocked by it. I will say this by far the nicest and best atmosphere. Since covid/remodeling, there is no longer a community room for foot massages, everything is a private room.

Avoid this place at all cost ! I went here today for a 2 hour massage. I got about a hour in a half and was freezing! It was to be 140 and she said no 180 tip and only gave my husband back 20 out of 200.00...

Avoid. The message is less than the time purchased (90min is maybe 70 min). The owner asks you to pay via Cash app or Venmo then ups the price for CC fees, while also asking for a 30% tip.

First time returning since they remodeled. My wife and I LOVE the acupressure massage. We used to be in a room together but now are in separate rooms. You get 60 minutes of rubbing starting from head to toes. Only complaint is for both of us is they seemed to stay in one spot rubbing too long. Need to roam more. Prices have jumped to where it is no longer a great deal but with the visit. They really push the “ you pay cash” so I’m guessing they don’t have to report it?

Massages were good, thier prices have increased and they have semi-mandatory minimum tip requirements that the actual therapist can't take from you, the snobby manager lady collects it from you.
