We spent 5 days here, which was much too long we realized on day 2. The beach, the atmosphere was great, the lake view rooms were bare, a no frills atmosphere. The food...while the person in charge monitored the waitstaff at every service, striving to get it right, the food was just okay. There was a fly in my salad on day 3, the chicken skewers were under cooked on day 4. Both things were remedied with replacements right away. I couldn't help but feel ready to leave. If you do stay keep it short, and keep it moving.

This is a really good resort especially if you want to escape from the world a bit because it’s far from the village so you’re pretty just in the resort till you leave. It has pretty much everything you need from different types of rooms- either beach side or lake side, to a large dining area, a pool, a gold course, a basketball court, a night club, a spa, a game room and different types of games. They have quite a large space so you can get lost in adventure. I enjoyed myself, however, they have some work to do because I came in a large group and they weren’t quite ready for us the first day so they need to work on attending to crowd plus there were some slight racist undertones from some of the restaurants staff and managers which is amusing as they’re in the hospitality business.

I spent a weekend here with a tour group consisting of family, friends, and other people I'd never met before. The rooms were quite good, neat and clean, and all basic amenities were provided. The restaurant was well stocked and the meals were delicious. It's located directly opposite the beach so you get a lot of sea breeze as you eat. The service staff were cordial and responsive. Overall, I had a good time

Beautiful and serene. The sea gives a fresh breath of calm. Hospitality is beautiful with an array of well prepared meals. Their spa is also quite satisfying with soft and gentle hands

Right at the beach, lagoon front on the other side. The rooms were without toiletries even hair dryer wasn't provided. The breakfast buffet was sufficient not over the top, I recommend the croissants hopefully it remains as good as when I had it. Staff are helpful and courteous. Ouidah is quiet and laid back so it's worth it.

The resort is situated on a pristine beach, offering breathtaking views of the crystal-clear waters and golden sands. The accommodations at Casa del Papa were both comfortable and spacious. I stayed in one of their beachfront bungalows, which was tastefully decorated and equipped with modern amenities. Waking up to the sound of the waves and enjoying a cup of coffee on my private terrace was a highlight of my stay. From the beautiful location to the comfortable accommodations and friendly staff, everything exceeded my expectations. If you're planning a trip to Benin and looking for a tranquil beachfront getaway, I highly recommend considering Casa del Papa and a tour on the town regarding the slave trade history.

We were anticipating something better. The place itself is located in the middle of nowhere. Recommendation. Two days are enough. Take enough healthy snack and drinks. Wear mosquito repellent. Hold enough cash. Have a standby car. The room is basic. There are no aesthetics. No bedside fridge or microwave. One is stuck with the kitchen which provides a complimentary breakfast and limited options for lunch and dinner. There are no snack bars and you are compelled to buy only in the place because there is no where to go. There are mosquitoes everywhere so I couldn't stay outside. The waiters and other employees are not particularly friendly. They attend to you with the hope of you tipping them. If you don't, they ignore you afterwards. They also talk about you openly in their native language with the mindset that you don't understand them. A two-day trip is enough if more, you will hate it there. The wifi is almost non-existent and the people at the reception don't have comfort for you. In all, it enjoys proximity to water and that's all.

The best vacation spot for you and your family. You get to wake up to the sunshine blast on the wall of your rooms, the sound of water as they hit high notes minding their own business. While the location might be a little bit far into town, it’s a great place when you can converse in french or have a tour guide at your beck and call. Loved every bit of it

Great location ...stayed in an ocean view cottage. Very nice beach area. Spacious room had good A/C. Large, well kept pool. Large buffet area w/ good selections. Coke Zero was available....but a little expensive. Still a bargain considering it was served cold and is a scarcity in the area. Room was a good value. Staff friendly. Only drawback was a rather tortuous road along the beach to get to the hotel. Property is about 20 minuted off the paved road. I did see utility crews installing utilities along the road, so perhaps the road will be improved soon. Well worth the trip and a good value!

Looking for a vacay location. Casa De papa is the right place. From the sea view and ocean wave sound to ease your body and soul, to the dishes and activities in the resort such as kayaking etc.

La Casa Del Papa ☺️👌🏼💯🎉🎊 I was glad to be here. It’s about an hour from Cotonou with a private car. Don’t get discouraged when driving because it can seem endless but it’s worth it. You’d see construction going on on your way just know you are on the right path. Then beaches with sweet palm tree views. The resort is lovely, there is a reception at the entrance. A restaurant, swimming pool then the beach and accommodation area. On the other side is a Spa, kayaking spot and a river hut. It’s a great place to relax and spend your holiday. They don’t allow visitors on sight seeing during weekends but you can eat in the restaurant then have access to view and take pictures. 😁 Also make sure make room reservations before coming to ensure to save a spot. Sometimes their customers service line might not be reachable you can book with @bookings.com Enjoy your stay!

Lovely outdoor scenery and ambience but basic rooms. Delicious but pricey meals. Staff assistance is quite low considering that they host a lot of foreign guests. Limited payment options. Overall, I enjoyed my stay.

It’s a really cool get away place. If you want to wake with the Atlantic Ocean right in front of you. Their room are really cool. Their restaurant is also cool. So much fun. But it’s a place to go with a group if friends. You will enjoy it better with friends. Make sure you visit the places around, take a tour.

Lovely lovely place! 1. Very neat. All the rooms, the vast, the dining area, the beach were so neat. Pictures home or looking great. 10/10 2. The rooms were small and cute. The bathroom worked perfectly, with hot water running at will without any issues. The tv in the room worked well with at least one channel in English. The walls are thin so...be careful! 9/10 because the walls are too thin for couples! 3. The service was superb. Polite and helpful servers. 10/10 4. The meals are definitely overpriced. The breakfast spread is nice and free daily, but could be better. Other meals on the menu are basic and not particularly great. However, it is a resort and the restaurant is not necessarily amazing. They tried to emulate the fine dining experience but it fell short. 5/10 5. Location is perfect for visits to the python temple, fishing community, museum and other historical spots. 10/10 5. Overall, a very pleasant experience.

"One of a kind in West Africa" excellent location and facilities. we always stayed in the deluxe beach side cabins. this was our getaway spot for all the years when life in west africa was getting too exhausting and you just wanted a nice place with a clean pool, clean room and relaxed atmosphere. The only downside here is the food itself and their food prices. but they offer tennis courts, kayaking trips etc and you can have your own porch where you can hang out and enjoy company or just the peace and quiet of your surroundings

Its a very beautiful hotel, 😍 🤩 👌 i enjoyed every bit of my stay . The rooms are very clean , towels and sheets, fresh and great quality. They have rooms at the ocean side with balconies and rooms at the lagoon side. my preference was the lagoon side cos its more quiet without any restaurants 😀😀 They have complementary kayaking on the lagoon side which is great cos the hotel is in an isolated area without anything else to do😀 However i had a serious issue with the fact that there are no taxis of any sort or even hotel shuttles at the hotel, so if u have to go anywhere there is only an option of motor bikes sometimes which honestly is not my preferred mode of transportation at all. I was a foreign visitor from another country which meant i did not have my personal car. Having to go anywhere was very difficult. Id suggest the hotel gets a shuttle that leaves the premises once every hour or once every 2 hours to town at least Even if guests have to pay a token for this its far better than just not being able to go out when u need to or using a motor bike in the very sandy terrain. Also the breakfast buffet chioces was rather limited and can definitely be improved upon. But overall id give my experience an 8 over 10, 2 points lost to lack of transportation from d hotel. I will definitely visit again as the hotel is beautiful and very well maintained!

Lovely, serene environment. Spent the weekend. Breakfast was good. Rooms are neat and well maintained. All channels on TV spoke French though- even Nollywood- kindly include English-speaking options.

It’s a really nice multi purpose resort. Breakfast is complimentary and you’re treated to a buffet. Although in a French speaking country most of their staff speak little English. 4 stars because of a few things. For example, they don’t have bed side fridges in their rooms. The wall sockets in the rooms are not universal. We had to rent sockets in order to be able to charge our gadgets.

I had a great stay here. It was amazing to wake up to the sound of the beach. The resort staff are really nice too! I only wish they had female staff members, I’d have felt safer seeing women around.

Hotel Le Casa Del Papa, Benin 🇧🇯 is one of the most beautiful resort in the world. The atmosphere is awesome, the entire staff are friendly people and you just can't have enough of it. A really serene place to be, I loved everything about it. I drove there with my family to get acquainted with the place and we weren't disappointed. We didn't lodge but from our experience the restaurant was great and the food was nice and reasonably priced. The restaurant is located at the beach view where you have the pool and the beach view chalets. There's also the Lagoon view side with boats that can take you into the lagoon and a mini golf course in the area. The entire scenery is clean and calming nature at its best, La Casa Del Papa is a major Go!

It's a nice and serene environment. I particularly enjoyed waking up to the sounds of the waves. It's quite a distance from town, though. Preferably for short stays if you're on tour... you might get bored of the seclusion if that's not your goal.

I went to this place for lunch, I decided to stay at Nature luxury lodge instead as I wasn’t keen on the rooms. The receptionist didn’t have means for tourists to pay. I have a platinum naira card that works all over the world. His POS was down, we tried two different ones once each. He wouldn’t allow me to try a second time. After an hour of back and forth he finally let me try again. He was in such disbelief that the translation was successful despite it saying success on the terminal, he had to study receipts like i magically printed a fake. I thought that was awful service, the staff also don’t speak English which I find very odd for a tourist attraction. All in all, I would never eat there again let alone stay there.

La Casa Del Papa. - would I visit again? Customer service- the staff were able to answer questions and not too friendly and most of them could speak some English which makes it easier if your French is not fluent or can’t speak at all Security- felt safe through out my stay. Security presence was felt all around the resort Food - Breakfast was what I enjoyed the most. Buffet style and they had a good selection to choose from. They don’t have an open kitchen which means you are limited to when lunch, snack time and dinner is served. This doesn’t work well if you go with kids. Service of food was really slow too so it’s advised to go once lunch or dinner is open before it gets crowded Amenities- loads of activities to do. 2 adult swimming pools and 1 kiddies pool so it is not over crowded, soccer pitch, basketball, lawn tennis, mini golf, canoeing/kayaking and spa to end the relaxation. You have to bring your equipment though. Scenery- fanstastic. From the sound of the ocean, to the cool breeze. You will definitely not want to leave. Overall it’s a fun place to visit and I will definitely visit again

Stopped by for a daycation during my Benin trip. My review is based on the beach restaurant experience. Despite the attendant saying he could speak English, it was bit difficult to communicate. There were several items not available on the menu. The food order took over one hour to arrive. Drinks came before the food. Didn’t particularly like the burger, the chips were manageable. The pinacolada tasted like nothing it was meant to. The meal experience wasn’t worth the amount it costs. The beach section was quite nice. There were chairs to sit on and the breeze was really relaxing. You can get nice pictures against the beach background.

  • 3/5 Annabel D. 8 months ago on Google
The environment is serene and really lovely. But for a tourist attraction and they can’t speak English makes it difficult and annoying. They could have just employed a translator, someone that speaks English, but no. People travel from all over the world and yet they can’t make arrangement for someone that speaks English. Food is a disaster, asides from breakfast (which was perfect), you will have to wait 7pmWAT to get dinner. You can only snack on boring snacks available but you can’t get food. You will have to wait till dinner time to order what you want. For a place that is located at the outskirt and away from people, you can’t go anywhere to order whatever you want, cos it’s located in the middle of nowhere! You can’t bring anything in and you’re only allowed to eat what they have on their menu. It was really annoying. The rooms were basic and nothing extra. Just the view is breathtaking every other thing is nonsense. Go there for a day maximum 2 and leave else you will regret staying.

The place is lovely, a lot of white people and a lot of mosquitoes. You can request for mosquitoes net or mosquitoes repellant cream. It is quite far from Quidah. Has a lots of activities like kayaking, karaoke, swimming. Internet is poor too.

Casa del Papa is a grand resort located on the beach of Ouidah. Location is out of town and the roads are being constructed so its not very good. However the resort itself is located right on the beach which makes it a perfect get away. Pricy rooms but well worth it. There are two room options; room with sea view and room with lake view either with or without breakfast. We stayed at the room with the lake view and the room was minimalist, clean and just what we needed. There are free activities to engage in here like canoeing, kayaking, swimming and then playing games like beach volley ball, mini golf, table tennis etc. The food here too is good, prices are higher as expected. Free breakfast buffet for 2 if you travel as a couple which was amazing! We loved out stay here in every way and wish we could stay longer.

Amazing place for you and a love one, or family get away. Very clean and lovely rooms by the sea side. The sound from the sea waves and the air is just sweet. Nice and courteous staff, they do their best to speak your language. Great outdoor adventures, boat ride, tennis, bike ride, indoor games such as snooker and 3 Olympics size swimming pools. Altogether good place, great amenities, lots of options for activities, clean rooms, well furnished... but there is a lack of sense of service (example: even though the snack bar mentions burger and chips, sandwich and chips, they will tell you a plate of just chips is not available, once you discuss and complain, it turns out chips are available (obviously) but it could have been more painless... one example among a few, some "rules" just don't make sense but service could improved).

This place is really beautiful! A great place to relax when you need to escape from the busy city life. The rooms are cozy and spacious. There's the beach side and the lagoon side. Rooms facing the beach are a little bit more expensive than the ones on the lagoon side. The staff are very friendly and they're always willing to help. You don't have to worry about not being able to speak French as most of the staff speak English too. Hotel guests are allowed to kayak for free. My favorite relaxation spot is by the beach in the evening. I'll definitely be visiting again.
